1 Introduction This document outlines the test procedure to be carried out to ensure the functionality of the AeroMobile system is functional prior to the aircraft’s release into revenue service.

4 Test Plan

4.1 Antenna Test Using the spectrum analyser and di-pole antenna set to the appropriate frequency carry out the following.

4.2 Power Up

4.2.1 Ensure AeroMobile Master Power switch on the flight deck is set to OFF.

4.2.2 On the P37 Panel (Right), ensure The following circuit breakers are closed C9201 (BTSRFU) C9202 (CRFMU1) C9203 (CRFMU2) C9204 (BI Server) On the P11-8 panel ensure circuit breaker C9200 (Pico Cell Sys DC Power) is closed.

4.2.3 Set the flight deck AeroMobile Master Power Switch to ON

4.2.4 Check that the Control Panel (CP) displays the AeroMobile logo screen for approximately 15 seconds

4.2.5 Press the Maintenance button The screen will change to the Maintenance screen.

4.2.6 Check that for each of the AeroMobile LRUs, the display shows PASS. Note: SATCOM may show FAILED if not turned on/logged on.

4.2.7 Using a GSM mobile phone, perform a manual network search and confirm that the AeroMobile network is not listed.

4.3 Network Initialisation



4.3.1

Using the pitot static test set, begin simulating an increase in the aircraft altitude to 25,000 feet.

4.3.2

As the aircraft altitude passes through 20,500 feet (6.25km), confirm the CP screen displays the MAIN MENU.

4.3.3

Turn on all mobile phones.

4.3.4

Check that all GSM mobile phones can log onto the AeroMobile network.

4.3.5

Check that all GSM mobile phones receive a welcome message.

4.3.6

From the CP MAIN MENU select STATUS.

4.3.7

Check that REG’D Users equals the same number of GSM mobile phones connected to the AeroMobile network. Note: Phones previously attached may not be counted.

4.4 Air to Ground Voice Calls

Using a single GSM mobile phone with a Telenor SIM, initiate a call to the ground. Note: AeroMobile support line is available on +44791777755.

4.4.2

Check that full two-way conversation is established. Leave call connected.

4.4.3

Repeat step 4.4.1, 4.4.2 for a further five GSM.

4.4.4

Initiate a seventh call to the ground from GSM mobile phone and check that this call is rejected.

4.4.5

End all calls in progress

4.5 Air to Ground and Ground to Air Text Messaging

From a single GSM mobile phone on the AM network send text messages to another GSM mobile phone on the network.

4.5.2 Confirm messages have been received with no errors.

4.6 Ground to Air Voice Calls



4.6.1

Initiate a call from the ground to one of the GSM mobile phones on the AM network.

4.6.2

Check that full two-way conversation is established. Leave call connected.

4.6.3

Repeat step 4.6.1, 4.6.2 for five other GSM mobile phones on the AM network.

4.6.4

Initiate a seventh call from the ground to GSM mobile phone on the AM. Check that this call is not connected. Note: The number calls is dependent on the SATCOM system installed.

End all calls in progress.

4.7 System On/Off



4.7.1

From the CP MAIN MENU press the PRESS FOR OFF icon.

4.7.2

Check that the icon has changed to PRESS FOR ON. Other icons are now greyed out.

4.7.3

Check that it is no longer possible to send/receive calls or text messages.

4.7.4

Press the PRESS FOR ON icon.

4.7.5

Check all buttons are now active.

4.7.6

Check voice and text functionality has been restored.

4.8 Passenger Services – Incoming Text Messages

4.17.4 Check that the LIVE CALLS indication has incremented by one.

Set up calls for each of the other GSM mobile phones attached to the AeroMobile network.

4.17.6

Check that for each call set up, the LIVE CALLS indication increments by one.

4.17.7 End one of the calls currently in progress

4.17.8 Check that the LIVE CALLS indication decrements by one

4.17.9 End all other calls in progress

Check that for each call that is ended the LIVE CALLS indication decrements by one until the indication is zero.

4.18 Status – Total Calls and Total Texts

4.19 Status – Registered Users



4.19.1

From the MAIN MENU select STATUS. The Status screen is displayed.

Check that the indication for REG’D USERS equals the number of GSM Mobile phones attached to the AeroMobile network.

4.19.3 Turn off each of the GSM mobile phones in turn.

4.19.4

Check that the indication for REG’D USERS decrements by one after each phone is turned off.

4.19.5 Switch on the GSM phones in turn.

4.20 WAP Functions



4.20.1

Using a GSM phone with GPRS capability, enter a WAP URL address (for example www.bbc.co.uk/mobile). Check that the page loads correctly

4.21 E-mail Functions



4.21.1

Using the BlackBerry device (attached to the AeroMobile network). Compose a new e-mail message and send to a valid e-mail address

4.23 Network Defaults to ‘Fail-Safe’ mode if an LRU fails



4.23.1

Disable the Server by opening CB C9204 on P37 Right. Ensure the AeroMobile system defaults to the ‘Fail Safe’ mode.

4.23.2 Reset and close C9204. Ensure system restarts.

4.23.3

Disable the CRFMU1 by opening CB C9202 on P37 Right. Ensure the AeroMobile system defaults to the ‘Fail Safe’ mode.


4.23.5

Disable the CRFMU2 by opening CB C9203 on P37 Right. Ensure the AeroMobile system defaults to the ‘Fail Safe’ mode.


4.23.7 Disable the BTSRFU by opening CB C9201 on P37 Right. Ensure the AeroMobile system defaults to the ‘Fail Safe’ mode.


4.23.9 Disconnect the CP by its plug to simulate a CP failure.

4.23.10 Using a mobile phone, connected to the AeroMobile networks ensure it is still connected to the network. Attempt to place a call. Ensure the call is rejected.

4.23.11 Reconnect the CP and ensure the system restarts.

5 Completion / Sign off of Aircraft Shut down any aircraft systems used during testing in accordance with AMM’s. Ensure that any panels disturbed during testing have been refitted securely and correctly. Remove aircraft ground power in accordance with AMM’s, and return the aircraft to its normal pre-power configuration.
