Dear Early Childhood Parents,

Enclosed please find the Early Childhood Summer Reading List, a compilation of well-known titles and authors for young children. This list is a steppingstone into the numerous possibilities for summer reading pleasure. After enjoying a particular book, you and your child may want to look for additional titles by that author.

In the United States Department of Education report, Becoming a Nation of Readers, a simple statement highlighted the report findings: “The single most important activity for building the knowledge required for eventual success in reading is reading aloud to your children.” We, as Early Childhood educators, encourage you to set aside some reading time with your child everyday. What an enjoyable way to encourage the development of beginning reading skills and a life long love of reading!
