ABOUT THE DEPARTMENTThe Mechanical engineering department started with the institution in 1962 with a student strength 60 and staff strength of 8. Over the last 40 years it has grown from strength to strength and has an intake of 180 students in UG and offers two PG courses (Manufacturing Science & Engineering and Computer Integrated Manufacturing). The Department is approved research center of VTU with 26 registrants for M.Sc/ Ph.D. All the faculty have Masters degree and 8 of them hold Doctoral degrees and are recognized Ph. D guides. The Department has plans for starting M. Tech (Machine Design) Course from the next academic year.

Ramaiah, a great visionary, Industrialist, Educationist and Philanthropist. Today, MSRIT is one of the foremost names among prestigious Engineering colleges in India . It has acquired the coveted ISO certification well as accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation. MSRIT offers 13 UG and 10 PG programs under different disciplines. Eight of the departments are also recognized research centers for Ph.D. and M.Sc Research Programs of VTU.
