WHAT IS DUAL ENROLLMENT?

Dual Enrollment is an opportunity for eligible high school students to earn college credit during regular school hours at their home high school.

The credit earned may be used to complete an Associate’sDegree as well as a Bachelor’s Degree at a transferUniversity (depending on the receiving institution’s requirements).

Some Dual Enrollment classes receive weighted grades.

Reduce college completion time

Eliminate duplication of course work during freshman year

WHO IS IT FOR? Dual Enrollment courses are primarily designed for high school juniors and seniors, however, under classmen are eligible for designated courses.

To be eligible to take a Dual Enrollment course, students must meet the pre-requisite criteria for the course and may need to take a free assessment test of current skills in:

•English•Math•Science•Foreign Language

Dual Enrollment classes are $81.00 per credit hour

Dual Enrollment classes can be worth 3, 4 or 5 creditsdepending on subject area.

WHAT ARE AP CLASSES?

Advanced Placement classes allows students toparticipate in college level course and possiblyearn college credit while still in high school.Students may take an examination at the completionof the course. Acceptable scores allow students toearn credit toward a degree, certificate, or otherformal award.

WHAT CAN AP CLASSES DOFOR YOU?

The main advantage of taking an AP course is better preparation for college. Students also acquire sophisticated academic skills and increased self-confidence in preparationfor college.

WHO CAN TAKE AP CLASSES? AP classes are primarily designed for high school juniorsand seniors, however under classmen are eligible for designated courses.

Students who wish to receive college credit for an AP classmust take an AP exam at the end of the year. Students must meet a qualifying score in order to receivecollege credit.

HOW MUCH ARE AP CLASSES?

AP classes are FREE!!!

AP exams cost approximately $85.00 per exam. students must take and pass the AP exam to receive college credit for the class. Financial assistance from The College Board is available for students in need.

WILL MY STUDENT RECEIVECOLLEGE CREDIT?

YES!!!!Students will receive college credit if they meet aqualifying score on the AP exam. Scores range from 1 to 5.

The AP exams are given every year in May. Each collegedetermines the score to be accepted for credit. Collegesmay award 3 and sometimes 6 credits per test. Studentsshould contact individual colleges to find out about theirAP Policy.
