IntroductionWHY INVEST IN BELARUS?The Republic of Belarus is one of the Eastern Partnership countries located in the centre of Europe at the shortest communication lines from central and eastern regions of Russia to the countries of Western Europe as well as between the Baltic and the Black Seas.

The present brochure provides foreign enterprises interested in the Belarusian market with an overview of 49 investment and cooperation proposals, representing the following sectors: Agribusiness, Tourism, Alternative Energy, ICT, Textile, Transport and Logistics, Sustainable Construction.

In the last few years, the legal framework for doing business in Belarus has substantially improved. Active efforts are being made to simplify legislation, reduce administrative barriers and make it easier for foreign investors to do business in Belarus.

The brochure was prepared in the frame of the East Invest project with active contribution of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

East Invest is a regional investment and trade facilitation project for the economic development of the Eastern Neighbourhood region, launched in the framework of the European Eastern Partnership initiative. It targets Business support organisations (BSOs) and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from the 6 Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine), who have potential for developing mutual cooperation and investment relations with the European Union.

In orderto reduce the payback period it is suggested to install a used wind turbine, which has a lower price (4-5 times) in comparison with a new one and shorter delivery time (2-3 months, while the term ofproduction and supply of new wind turbines is more than 1 year). In the presence of timelymaintenance and service of used wind turbines give the same generation, as new and worksuccessfully for a long time. Besides in funds and companies engaged in similar equipment theinformation is constantly updated and you can choose the models in a wide range of capacities from80kW to 2.5 MW. This allows finding the right turbine or even a wind farm for any project.The total amount of the investments required is 230 000 euro. About 70% of the project cost are thecosts of equipment, the rest are building and construction works, design works and startup-setupoperations. Expected investment of a foreign partner is € 160 000. Anticipated payback period is 1.8years.
