Feeding of Antibiotics to Farm AnimalsThe Agricultural and Medical Research Councils have set
up a joint committee to examine the possible consequences ofthe feeding of antibiotics to farm animals and to considerwhether this practice constitutes any danger to human oranimal health. Lord Netherthorpe is to act as chairman, andProf. A. A. Miles has agreed to take the chair of a scientificsub-committee which will examine the evidence in detail andplace its findings before the main committee.
Current Trends in CardiologyThe Chest and Heart Association will hold a symposium on

First British Congress on the History of Medicineand Pharmacy .
This congress, organised by the faculty of the history ofmedicine and pharmacy at the Society of Apothecaries ofLondon, in cooperation with the Royal College of Physicians ofLondon, the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and theRoyal Society of Medicine, will be held in London, on Sept. 29and 30. Leverhulme Trust FundThe third report of this Trust-which is to be the first
of a series of triennial reports-covers 1956 to 1958. Duringthese years the Trust allocated E593,000, of which almosta third was given to medical research.
Grants include: E9100 to the Institute of Laryngology and Otology,London, for research fellowships; E35,000 to the Middlesex HospitalMedical School, London, for scholarships at the Institute ofClinical Research; E10.700 to the Mental Health Research Fundfor research fellowships; E9500 to St. Mary’s Hospital MedicalSchool, London, for biochemical research; ESS, 100 to the RoyalCollege of Surgeons of England for research fellowships in dentalsurgery, anaesthetics, physiology, and for general research; :E14,OOOto the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine for researchin industrial medicine.

International Federation of Surgical CollegesA meeting of the Federation is to be held at the Royal
