KFPS NEWS: No 10 Wednesday 22nd April 2020 Dear Parents and friends, I hope you are all well and managing to stay safe and physically distant but socially connected! I appreciate that this may be a difficult time for families as you assume the role of educator in the household. I was at an appointment last week and overheard an older gentlemen telling another in the waiting room that he had assumed the responsibility of his grandson’s education whilst on remote learning. I had to smile when he said that he was the teacher and grandma was the principal! It really does seem like all of us are in this together! REMOTE LEARNING We appreciate the efforts that families are making with regard to the learning packages and working within them. Although it may be tempting for some students to pick and choose the activities and perhaps not choose to do some, we ask that you do encourage them to attempt the work. We understand that some work might be a little challenging but have a go at it and write a note to the teacher in the handout if you have had difficulty or message your child’s teacher. Students should not choose to avoid certain subjects as all areas of the curriculum will be assessed by teachers prior to the next report writing time. We shall be moving to online check-ins with students. For those families able to download the Webex Meeting App onto a device at home, I ask that you do so as this will be the platform that teachers will start to commence a check-in and teaching component online with our students. Please refer to the instructions provided in this newsletter. PLEASE PICK UP and RETURN HOME LEARNING PACKS This Friday 24 th April, we shall be asking families to collect their Week 3 Home Learning package from school. This will be collected from the amphitheatre and basketball courts. You will be asked to enter our school site at the pedestrian gate on Olympic Parade gate. . Home Learning packs will be available for collection from 2pm – 4pm on Friday. Due to DET & health requirements, we will be expecting families to adhere to the requests of staff to attend to hygiene practices on site and keep to the social distancing measures. Put simply - “Use the sanitiser like we do at the supermarket!” We ask that students return their first Week 1&2 workbook that has the completed work tasks in it on this same day. Our teachers will assess their efforts and this will guide their planning for each student. You will receive a new workbook with the Week 3 learning tasks in it. We are gathering up student’s pencil cases and adding glue sticks for children to sue at home also. PREMIERS’ READING CHALLENGE The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is led by the Premier with support of former premiers. As our families would know, the Anzac Day service held locally here at the Kangaroo Flat cenotaph is always an important occasion that our school is honoured to attend. It will be unusual not to be in attendance this weekend but there are other ways that you can commemorate this very special day. The most important thing on Anzac Day is for us to stop, pause and remember. There has been a call for people to stand in the driveway at dawn and light a candle. KFPS NEWS: No 10 Wednesday 22nd April

2020

Dear Parents and friends,

I hope you are all well and managing to stay safe and physically distant but socially connected!

I appreciate that this may be a difficult time for families as you assume the role of educator in the

household. I was at an appointment last week and overheard an older gentlemen telling another in the

waiting room that he had assumed the responsibility of his grandson’s education whilst on remote

learning. I had to smile when he said that he was the teacher and grandma was the principal! It really

does seem like all of us are in this together!

REMOTE LEARNING

We appreciate the efforts that families are making with regard to the learning packages and working within them. Although it

may be tempting for some students to pick and choose the activities and perhaps not choose to do some, we ask that you do

encourage them to attempt the work. We understand that some work might be a little challenging but have a go at it and

write a note to the teacher in the handout if you have had difficulty or message your child’s teacher. Students should not

choose to avoid certain subjects as all areas of the curriculum will be assessed by teachers prior to the next report writing

time.

We shall be moving to online check-ins with students. For those families able to download the Webex Meeting App onto a

device at home, I ask that you do so as this will be the platform that teachers will start to commence a check-in and teaching

component online with our students. Please refer to the instructions provided in this newsletter.

PLEASE PICK UP and RETURN HOME LEARNING PACKS

This Friday 24th

April, we shall be asking families to collect their Week 3 Home Learning package from school. This will be

collected from the amphitheatre and basketball courts. You will be asked to enter our school site at the pedestrian gate on

Olympic Parade gate. .

Home Learning packs will be available for collection from 2pm – 4pm on Friday. Due to DET & health requirements, we will be

expecting families to adhere to the requests of staff to attend to hygiene practices on site and keep to the social distancing

measures. Put simply - “Use the sanitiser like we do at the supermarket!”

We ask that students return their first Week 1&2 workbook that has the completed work tasks in it on this same day. Our

teachers will assess their efforts and this will guide their planning for each student. You will receive a new workbook with the

Week 3 learning tasks in it. We are gathering up student’s pencil cases and adding glue sticks for children to sue at home
