Degree College Thannamandi organised an online Extension Lecture cum interaction ses- sion on on the topic "Career after graduation and Entrepreneurship". The pro- gramme was organised under the patronage of Principal of the College Prof. (Dr.) Javaid Ahmed Qazi. Tajinder Singh, Marketing Head, Akaal University, Punjab was the resource person who has talked about career avenues after graduation and entrepre- neurship. STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: To review the status of estimation of various works approved under District Capex 2021-22 BDC, DDC and PRIs grants and other ongoing schemes of RDD sec- tor in the District, Additional District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Kanta Devi chaired a meeting of Rural Development Department officers. She also reviewed the progress of other RDD schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), 14th FC and RGSA etc and assessed the status of convergence plan to be taken up with the line departments. During the meet- ing, Executive Engineer REW apprised that against the total of 2323 number of works under District Capex Budget, the estimates of 740 have been checked technically so far. He informed that the estimation of all the approved works shall be completed by the mid of July 2021. Directions were issued to RDD to work with dedication and in a transparent manner to complete the works within the stipulated time frame ensuring desired quality and progress of the works in rural areas. The ADDC exhorted upon the officers to maintain transparency and accountabili- ty in the execution of all the works. The Deputy Commissioner said that common formats devised for the survey includes details related to migration route, family par- ticulars, educational status, health and animal hus- bandry facilities, Livelihood and skilling requirement among other parameters. He also informed that Additional District Development Commissioner has been nominated as District Nodal Officer for the Survey and District Sts. & Evaluation Officer as Coordinating Officer, who shall also organise Trainings for the staff being engaged and conduct IEC Activities. The Deputy Commissioner informed that based on the survey a range of different facilities will be provided by the department which include transit facilities, livestock services, health- care, education, Livelihood initiatives, essential services and infrastructure. The Deputy Commissioner apprised that on completion of family the process of digi- tisation and smart card with complete family details will be initiated. The smart cards will serve multiple purposes for a range of facil- ities to be extended to the tribal migratory population. "The Tribal Affairs Department will provide assistance to migratory nomadic families under vari- ous schemes and the plan also includes capacity build- ing of the nomadic popula- tion", the Deputy Commissioner added. "Special Tehsil level com- mittees have been constitut- ed and Tehsildars concerned have been designated as the nodal officer for enumera- tion and survey of migratory tribal population of the dis- trict. Education, Forest, RDD and Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department will assist the Revenue Department in the process of collection of required data ", the Deputy Commissioner informed. He also asked the concerned officers to take full assistance of the PRI members in this regard. The Deputy Commissioner said that the survey would start from July 1 this year and special training sessions would be organised for the staff engaged in this data collection process. The Addl. District Development Commissioner Pawan Kumar, who is also Nodal Officer Tribal Survey* asked the con- cerned officers to put in place added efforts to ensure that the whole data collec- tion exercise as per the for- mat is completed by 21st of July so that the same can be submitted to the higher authorities for necessary action at their end. District Sts. & Evaluation Officer, Rajouri Bilal Rashid, who is also Deputy Census officer, elaborated the Formats during the meeting and the details need to be captured during the Survey. He also threw light on the Focus areas, to be kept under consideration during the Survey and also sought the detail of Employees from Concerned Departments who shall work as Enumerators and Supervisor to create a data- base for their Trainings & providing of Logistics. DDC seeks authentic data for providing vital Smart Cards to nomadic families STATE TIMES NEWS DODA: District Development Commissioner Doda, Vikas Sharma on Tuesday reviewed the progress on Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) road projects of Sub division Assar, Bhagwah, Bhaderwah, Doda, Thathri and Gandoh, here at a meeting held in his office Chamber. The meeting was attended by Joint Director (CPO) Parshotam Kumar, SE PMGSY, Executive Engineer PMGSY, and AEEs of con- cerned sub divisions. The District Development Commissioner was apprised that out of 111 ongoing roads in Doda Division (Subdivision Assar, Bhagwah, Bhaderwah and Doda) 65 roads have been blacktopped till May end this year. Similarly, in Thathri Division (Subdivision Thathri and Gandoh) out of 63 roads 20 have been black- topped till March 2021. It was also given out that these 174 road projects shall bene- fit 238 habitations in the dis- trict. The DC expressed dismay over slow progress in PMGSY Division Thathri and directed the SE con- cerned to fix the responsibili- ty of poor performance and take strict action accordingly. He directed the authorities to set the target of blacktopping 25 KM in a fortnight to com- plete the BT work by November this year. Further the DDC directed the officers to review the pending projects for want of any clearance from revenue or forest department to com- plete these projects at the earliest. DDC Doda reviews progress of PMGSY road projects DDC Doda, Vikas Sharma chairing a meeting. STATE TIMES NEWS RAMBAN: Property worth lakhs were reduced to ashes in the devastating fire in which more than a dozen residential houses were gutted at Hijwa- Mahu area of Tehsil Kharri in Banihal Sub Division of Ramban District on Tuesday morning. According to reports, more than 13 residential houses came under mysterious blaze at Hijwa area, which is one of the far-off area in Banihal Sub Division. Incharge Police Post Kharri Inspector Zaheer Iqbal said that the fire, which started at 11:00 AM completely destroyed 13 residential hous- es. He said that after getting information, Army, Police and locals rushed to the spot and tried to douse the flames, but as of now about 13 residential houses got completely gutted as the structures were made of dry cedar. No injury or casualty has been reported in the incident, while the exact loss could not be ascertained yet. Police said that Fire Tenders also reached near the spot but it's 3 KM from road and they were unable to douse the fire. Later, an Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter has been pressed into service in Dal Lake to facilitate the ongoing firefighting operation launched to put off the mas- sive blaze. The helicopter was deployed near Char Chinari with 'Bambi bucket' attached to it to facilitate the ongoing fire- fighting operation. When the last reports came in, the fire is under control. DDC Ramban Mussarat-ul- Islam also visited the village and directed officers to pre- pare the loss. GDC Jindrah holds awareness campaign on 'Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojna' STATE TIMES NEWS JINDRAH: The NSS unit of Government Degree College (GDC), Jindrah on organised a door to door awareness campaign for locals of Jindrah village in respect to center sponsored scheme 'Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojna' (PMUY) which was launched by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on 1 May 2016 to distribute LPG con- nections to women of Below Poverty Line families. The NSS volunteers of GDC Jindrah visited the families of village Jindrah who are below the poverty line and gave them details of PMUY and how they can avail benefits from this scheme which aimed at safe- guarding the health of women & children by provid- ing them with a clean cook- ing fuel - LPG, so that they don't have to compromise their health in smoky kitchens or wander in unsafe areas collecting firewood. The campaign was well organized by Dr. Sunil Sharma, Programme Officer, NSS unit of GDC Jindrah under the guidance of Prof. Rajshree Dhar, the Principal of GDC Jindrah. STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Senior Congress leader Sumeet Magotra alleged Govt. had adopted biased attitude towards Gym and health club owners. While address- ing a press conference he said while Govt. has opened and gave partial relaxation in many business establish- ments, then why gym and health clubs were kept at bay. Magotra expressed that Govt has allowed to open and to initiate business activities after a more than month long lockdown but surpris- ingly, didn't allowed gym and health clubs to restart their activities resulting their owners are facing hardships. Magotra further said that Govt has allowed transport, banquet Halls (large public gathering establishments) to restart their activities but gym and health clubs are still not allowed to open their establishments. He said owners of gym and health clubs are reeling under immense mental agony and facing business crisis. STATE TIMES NEWSDODA: DistrictDevelopment CommissionerDoda, Vikas Sharma onTuesday reviewed theprogress on Pradhan MantriGram Sadak Yojana(PMGSY) road projects ofSub division Assar,Bhagwah, Bhaderwah,Doda, Thathri and Gandoh,here at a meeting held in hisoffice Chamber.

The meeting was attendedby Joint Director (CPO)Parshotam Kumar, SEPMGSY, Executive EngineerPMGSY, and AEEs of con-cerned sub divisions.

The District DevelopmentCommissioner was apprisedthat out of 111 ongoing

roads in Doda Division(Subdivision Assar,Bhagwah, Bhaderwah andDoda) 65 roads have beenblacktopped till May end thisyear.

Similarly, in ThathriDivision (SubdivisionThathri and Gandoh) out of63 roads 20 have been black-

topped till March 2021. Itwas also given out that these174 road projects shall bene-fit 238 habitations in the dis-trict.

The DC expressed dismayover slow progress inPMGSY Division Thathriand directed the SE con-cerned to fix the responsibili-

ty of poor performance andtake strict action accordingly.He directed the authorities toset the target of blacktopping25 KM in a fortnight to com-plete the BT work byNovember this year.

Further the DDC directedthe officers to review thepending projects for want ofany clearance from revenueor forest department to com-plete these projects at theearliest.

STATE TIMES NEWSRAMBAN: Property worthlakhs were reduced to ashes inthe devastating fire in whichmore than a dozen residentialhouses were gutted at Hijwa-Mahu area of Tehsil Kharri inBanihal Sub Division ofRamban District on Tuesdaymorning.

According to reports, morethan 13 residential housescame under mysterious blazeat Hijwa area, which is one ofthe far-off area in BanihalSub Division.

Incharge Police Post KharriInspector Zaheer Iqbal saidthat the fire, which started at11:00 AM completelydestroyed 13 residential hous-

es. He said that after getting

information, Army, Police andlocals rushed to the spot andtried to douse the flames, butas of now about 13 residentialhouses got completely gutted

as the structures were madeof dry cedar. No injury orcasualty has been reported inthe incident, while the exactloss could not be ascertainedyet. Police said that FireTenders also reached near the

spot but it's 3 KM from roadand they were unable to dousethe fire.

Later, an Indian Air Force(IAF) helicopter has beenpressed into service in DalLake to facilitate the ongoingfirefighting operationlaunched to put off the mas-sive blaze.

The helicopter was deployednear Char Chinari with'Bambi bucket' attached to itto facilitate the ongoing fire-fighting operation.

When the last reports camein, the fire is under control.DDC Ramban Mussarat-ul-Islam also visited the villageand directed officers to pre-pare the loss.

The NSS volunteers ofGDC Jindrah visited thefamilies of village Jindrahwho are below the povertyline and gave them details ofPMUY and how they canavail benefits from thisscheme which aimed at safe-guarding the health ofwomen & children by provid-ing them with a clean cook-ing fuel - LPG, so that theydon't have to compromisetheir health in smokykitchens or wander in unsafeareas collecting firewood.
