AP govt unveils Swechha to provide free sanitary napkins to girl students

• Andhra Pradesh launched the Swechha

programme to provide quality sanitary

napkins free of cost to over 10 lakh girls

studying class 7 to 12.

• Each girl will be given 10 napkins per month

or 120 napkins a year.

• The programme will be implemented at the

cost of Rs 32 crore.

• Under the Clean Andhra Pradesh Programme

(CLAP), separate dustbins and 6,417 incinerators will be set up.

Power Ministry Revised Policy to Use Biomass Pellets in Coal-Burning

Thermal Power Plants

• Ministry of Power has set a revised policy to use

biomass pellets in coal-burning thermal power plants.

• The revised policy has made it mandatory for 3

categories of thermal power plants to use a 5% blend of

biomass pellets along with coal.

• The revised policy will come into force in October

2022, with a requirement to increase the proportion of

biomass to 7% within 2 years of the power plant.

• Union Minister of State for Information and

Broadcasting Dr L. Murugan inaugurated Prasar

Bharati Auditorium at All India Radio Srinagar earlier

today.

• With a capacity of more than 170 seats, the

auditorium is equipped with state-of-the-art digital

technologies. This auditorium was damaged in 2014

floods.

APEDA signs MoU with ICAR-Central Citrus Research Institute,

Nagpur for boosting exports of citrus and its valued-added products

• For boosting exports of citrus and its valued

added products, the Agricultural and Processed

Food Products Export Development Authority

(APEDA) has signed a Memorandum of

Understanding with ICAR-Central Citrus

Research Institute (ICAR-CCRI), Nagpur.

• The MoU envisages promoting export by

focussing on creation of product specific

clusters along with development of technologies

by APEDA and ICAR-CCRI with a focus on efficient and precision farming.

• For boosting value-addition and farmers’ income, APEDA has signed a series of MoUs with ICAR-Indian

Institute of Millet Research (ICAR-IIMR), Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, University of

Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore. National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd

(NAFED) and others.

• Federal Bank has upgraded its mobile banking app ‘FedMobile‘ with an investment platform equipped with superior wealth management capability for the convenience of its users.

• The Federal Bank has been authorised by the Reserve Bank of India based on the recommendation of Controller General of Accounts, Ministry of Finance, for collection of Direct and Indirect Taxes, on behalf of CBDT (Central Board of Direct Taxes) and CBIC (Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs).

CCI imposes penalties upon firms for bid rigging in tender floated by GAIL

• The Competition Commission of India passed a final order against two firms, viz ; PMP Infratech Pvt. Ltd. and Rati Engineering, for indulging into concerted practices leading to bid rigging of tender floated by GAIL in 2017–18 for the restoration of well site located in Ahmedabad and Anand areas of Gujarat.

• The CCI imposed a monetary penalty of Rs. 25 lakh on PMP Infratech Pvt. Ltd., Rs. 2.5 lakh on Rati Engineering and Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50 thousand on

• The Adani Finserv has acquired 10% equity stake in the CSC Grameen eStore.

• Common Service Centre Grameen eStore is a wholly-owned subsidiary of CSC e-Governance Services

• This investment follows HDFC (Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited) Bank, which owns a 1.5 % stake, and Tata Digital, which bought a 5% holding in CSC Grameen eStore.
