Dear Parents, We come to the end of another incredible and incredibly busy school year here at Crissman and what a year it has been! I am so proud to be able to serve the wonderful students here and the entire Crissman community. I have the best job in the world and on a daily basis this is reinforced to me as I see students beam with pride as they show growth in their learning. Parent Survey -I do want to share the results of the parent survey that we sent out earlier in the year. Your support has been heart-warming, but we believe we can do better. We are never complacent and every child de- serves the best that we can possibly give. We will not rest until we believe that this is consistently the case, and we know that there are still areas we need to improve, such as our ongoing work on effective communication about our school vision/mission and our established goals with our plan for improving student learning. We also know that the strengths we have aca- demically needs to continue to grow and we will continue to improve our efforts in this aspect. The survey questions were divided into five sections. The scores for each section are as follows: Purpose and Direction 75.00% Governance and Leadership 76.60% Teaching and Assessing for Learning 82.80% Resources and Support Systems 76.80% Using Results for Continuous Improvement 81.20% Summer Reading Incentive - We will be having a school assembly to motivate students to read during the summer by participating in our sum- mer reading incentive. At the assembly, we will show our Crissman “Read with Me” video with the message to keep reading during the summer… Keep your mind sharp bring those stories to life reading makes us better people there should be no strife.” “Readers are Leaders, Readers are Lead- ers.” The school video and the summer reading information will be posted on our Crissman website for students to access throughout the summer. Report Cards -During June, Crissman Elementary will once again distribute re-ports cards electronically. The fourth marking period grades will be sent electron-ically to families at the end of the day on Thursday, June 15, 2017. To receive the report cards, parents will need to have a secure PowerSchool ac-count. Parents who do not have access to a PowerSchool account will need to reg-ister for one prior to June 13, 2017. The report cards will then be automatically e-mailed to the address that is used to register the PowerSchool account. If you already have a PowerSchool account, you do not need to take any further action. The report card will be automatically sent to you electronically. Our school will no longer automatically print and mail report cards to parents. More information on how to register for secure accounts can be found at http://uticak12.org/studentinfocenter

I want to wish you all an excellent summer,

wherever you may be, and I look forward to having a great next school year!

Sincerely,

Renee A. Fiema Principal

BLOOD DRIVE UPDATE THANK YOU to all of Crissman’s Pint Size Heroes for making our 13th annual Ameri-can Red Cross Blood Drive a success. On Monday, May 8th, the Red Cross collected 33 whole units and 3 double red units of lifesaving blood for a total of 39 units. We al-so had 6 first time donors at our Drive in Crissman’s gym. An extra special THANK YOU goes out to Mrs. Caruso, our parent volunteer. We can credit her with overseeing the blood drive and registering many of our donors. Finally, as you all know, our blood drive would not be a success without the support of our Crissman families and teachers. I would like to personally thank all of you who took the time out of your busy lives to donate or attempt to donate during our blood drive. Kathleen Poole Physical Education Teacher
