FRESH SPONSORSHIP: Nairobi Restaurant Week

During Nairobi restaurant Week, 50 of Nairobi’s finest restaurants come together to applaud the finest food the city has to offer. The top chefs therefore put their culinary skills to the test so that restaurant-goers can experience a one-off, limited edition, celebratory menu.

It celebrates the ingenuity and innovation of our favourite local restaurants. The foodies can try out different cuisines from as many restaurants as they want at a subsidized fee.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AAKASH MEHTAAakash Mehta is an Accountant at KI. This smart and talkative colleague was born and bred in Nairobi. He acquired his Bachelors in Business Administration from a collaboration programme with the University of Greenwhich. He joined KI in November 2012 as an Accounts Assistant and rose to become an Accountant. Aakash resides in Parklands, Nairobi.

MORNING AND PREPARING FOR WORKHe wakes up at 7:15am and swears that he only needs 15min to prepare before strategizing as he comes to work.

WHY FINANCE?Aakash says that Finance runs in the family, more like an expertise you acquire as you grow up with your parents. He is also fascinated by numbers. He however laments that business courses have a bad perception. They are viewed to be suited for academic failures, with the brightest students opting for Medicine, Engineering and Law. Finance provides a wider scope for career opportunities. It requires co-ordination, concentration and enables practitioners to follow their dreams, as one can work in any industry.

CHALLENGES The two main challenges of pursuing a career in Finance are monotony and too much paperwork. He however cherishes the members of his department because they are cheerful and lively, thus making work more exciting.

END OF THE DAYAfter work, he catches up with ACCA evening classes at Oshwal College. He then gets home to watch his favorite television series, have dinner and plan for the next day.

WHY KI?He actually cherishes that he gets to work in the same company as his father. In addition, he resonates to Kenafric’s family culture and its values. WHAT DRIVES HIM?Aakash has an ambition to grow and drive his dreams. He is driven by the motto “Yes I can” and “Nothing is impossible”.

LIKES Aakash likes to travel. In December, he travelled to Mombasa and Lake Bogoria. He has however gotten the chance to travel to Dubai and India. He loves movies and likes to keep up to date with technology and the latest gadgets. And that’s a day in the life of Aakash Mehta.
