Background

• This is a follow up from last year’s meeting whereby SENKO presented results from various cleaning method on non-AR Coated expanded beam connectors

• This year we expand testing investigate the effectiveness of the various cleaning methods/materials on oil based contaminant on AR Coated expanded beam connectors

• Quantify the effectiveness of the cleaning method in terms of IL & ORL of the interconnector which will allow iNEMI to evaluate the impact/significance of the various cleaning methods against the transmitted signal’s BER/Power Penalty.

Summary• AR Coated connectors were not damaged by the cleaning process

• Nevertheless, the non-abrasive cleaners (i.e. compress gas & gel) provides best consistency on the before & after IL & ORL

• Traces of residue dust around guide-pin areas are found after cleaning by pen-type cleaners

Future work• Continue discussion between HPE and Resolute Technologies on Dust Maze to

further investigates effect of dust on connectors in a controlled/predictable environment

• Any other suggestion regarding to cleaning?
