COMMUNITY SPIRIT AT CHOBHAM RUGBY The Community team at Chobham Rugby Football Club was delighted to be handed the keys to a new
Community car sponsored by West End Garage Kia. You will see the car out and about in the community visiting
local schools and colleges where Chobham’s Ed Wynne and his team will be delivering PE sessions and after
school rugby clubs; encouraging local children to get active and enjoy rugby.
Chobham’s Head of Community Rugby Ian Woodley said, “Our huge thanks to Damian Dunne of West End
Garage Kia for supplying our new community car. The ongoing support for our community programme and
generosity is very much appreciated by everyone at Chobham Rugby and makes a positive difference to our
ability to deliver rugby in the community.”

A BIG THANK YOU!
On Saturday 21st January Chobham Rugby 1st
XV played Dover at Fowlers Wells and as well as
the usual club officials we welcomed Chris
Bessant vicar of Chobham St Lawrence Church
for our pre match lunch.
You will no doubt all be familiar with the beautiful
fifteenth century church and tower on the High
Street in the heart of the village. As is common
with many of these listed heritage buildings their
upkeep is a constant struggle and Chobham St
Lawrence is no different. Following an inspection
in 2015 significant problems were identified with
the fabric of the stonework and as a result the
church council is planning to carry out repairs in
2018. They need to raise in the order of
£200,000.
As a way of supporting the restoration efforts Chobham Rugby members have helped raise a fantastic £473, by
way of a £1 contribution from the cost of the pre match lunch, a raffle and collection. Mike Riley, Chobham
Facilities Manager, is shown handing over a cheque to a very grateful Chris. A big thank you to all who
contributed or helped on the day.

UNDER AGE DRINKING - A REMINDER OF OUR OBLIGATIONS
Chobham Rugby Club is a licensed premises. A reminder that to legally comply with the terms of our bar licence
we are not permitted to either serve alcohol to anyone under the age of eighteen or to anyone we believe will
give that alcohol to someone under the age of eighteen. Chobham staff are required to ask for proof of age if
they suspect that anyone under the age of eighteen is attempting to purchase alcohol or is being supplied with
alcohol by an adult.
Our bar team and management committee reserve the right to refuse to serve anyone not complying with these
legal regulations; since failure to do so will become a police matter and could well lead to the suspension of the
Club's licence. Furthermore, any member found to be in breach of these regulations will be subject to the Club
disciplinary procedures.

TOUCH RUGBY AT CHOBHAM
There are many ways you can take part in touch rugby at Chobham:
WOW : Women only Wednesdays this is exactly what it says on the tin ... we are keen to get new playersalong and its a fun way to improve your fitness. We also do compete in a number of events too so youcan get involved at any level.
TNT : Thursday Night Touch is a pitch up and play for anyone in the u14s age group and above - it's fastbut not too furious and runs all year round
Legends League : We run an over 40s session on the last Friday of each month. As a number of ex-players have found it's a tough format so we are now running a few drills each session to familiarise folk
with the O2 format. This is followed by an hour of touch Rugby and some light hearted banter at the bar
Competitions : We play competitive formats with the ladies heading over to a ladies only league eachmonth and we also play a mixed team in the Surrey and Middlesex touch league
