The club has been progressive ever since it opened in 1994 with developments continually being made to the club complex in order to expand and improve the facilities for both members and visitors.

We have all of the facilities that a golfer would expect at a well-established club. The Pro Shop stocks a full range of equipment and also has trolleys, clubs and buggies available for hire.

Founded in 1994, Chobham Golf Club was originally designed by

Peter Alliss and Clive Clark creating a beautiful 18-hole par 69 golf course in picturesque surroundings on the site of an old tree nursery.

Some of the names now renowned in the world of golf are linked with the creation of Chobham, including 2010 Ryder Cup-winning captain Colin Montgomerie.

Montgomerie laid the final brick during the construction of our Clubhouse and for a number of our early years we also had the privilege of having Monty as our Touring Professional.

The course, with tees and greens built to USGA specification, has certainly become one of the finest in the area. It is set in a beautiful and secluded location and laid out across the naturally undulating land between mature woodlands.

Among the many attractive features of the course are six strategically placed man-made lakes and many established trees that give it a maturity beyond its years.

The toughest hole on the course is the 425-yard par four 12th. This hole requires two straight and accurate shots to a left-to-right sloping green which is flanked by bunkers on the left and right hand sides.

Our signature hole is the challenging par three 15th. This hole has a lake that extends 170 yards from the tee and a picturesque view of the clubhouse.

We continually invest in our course to ensure you have the best golfing experience possible and this is reinforced by the Golf Monthly Silver award we received in the HSBC Regional Course Rankings in 2007.

A testament to the quality of our course is that Surrey Golf Unions have selected Chobham to host a number of prestigious events such as the Ladies Druce Trophy in 2011, the Surrey Under 12 Championship in 2013 and a number of County Junior matches.

• Course tour •

If you have never played at Chobham Golf Club before you are in for a treat.

Make the most of your trip by learning about some of the pitfalls that lie in wait and how to avoid them as you follow our hole-by-hole tour.

Hole 1, 364 Yards, Par 4 A challenging opening hole which requires a long but straight blind tee shot. Once again, a straight shot is required for your second in order to avoid the two large oak trees and the ditch running through the fairway. Beware the bunkers either side of the green.

Hole 2, 188 Yards, Par 3 The first of the par threes requires a long iron or fairway wood off the tee to reach the green. A mishit shot will either find the lake or the bunkers, while caution should be taken when putting on the back to front sloping green.

Hole 3, 365 Yards, Par 4 A left to right dogleg par four which requires a long tee shot to avoid the large lake. A medium to short iron is required on the approach shot but beware the two bunkers that surround the back to front sloping green.

Hole 4, 161 Yards, Par 3 A straightforward par three which requires a tee shot hit just right of centre because anything played to the left will find one of the bunkers next to the green. Once again the back to front sloping green makes putting tricky.


Hole 5, 353 Yards, Par 4 A short right to left par four which requires a straight drive to the downwards sloping fairway. A medium to short iron is required for the approach shot over the two mature trees which guard the green. Be cautious of the borrows in the green which make it difficult to read.

Hole 6, 480 Yards, Par 5 The first par five of the course demands a tee shot hit to the left of centre to avoid the hidden lake that runs almost the entire right-hand side of the fairway. A risk-reward second shot requires a long iron or fairway wood to hit over the bunkers which cross the fairway.

Hole 7, 147 Yards, Par 3 The shortest par three on the course requires an accurate tee shot with a medium to short iron to see you on to the green. Beware the four bunkers which surround the steep back to front sloping green.

Hole 8, 373 Yards, Par 4With a lake to the right-hand side and woodland on the left, a long straight tee shot is required to hit the dogleg. Be cautious with your approach shot to avoid the ditch at the back of the green, although hit too short and you may find the deep bunker to the front left.

Hole 9, 493 Yards, Par 5 A tough right to left dogleg par five which demands a well hit drive to avoid the lake to the left and the trees on the right. To be safe, an iron or lofted wood for your second shot would leave you around 100 yards from the green. The deep bunker to the front right of the green lies in wait for any mishit approach shots.


Hole 10, 327 Yards, Par 4 A relatively straight par four that requires accuracy from the tee to secure a good score. Take extra care when the hole is cut on the right side of the green.

Hole 11, 361 Yards, Par 4 This uphill par four requires a straight drive to avoid the trees on the left and the bunkers on the right. Be cautious on the approach to avoid the three bunkers surrounding the green.

Hole 12, 425 Yards, Par 4 The hardest hole on the course and Stroke Index 1 for good reason. It requires a drive hit to the left centre of the fairway and you will need a long iron or fairway wood to reach this left to right sloping green.

Hole 13, 539 Yards, Par 5 The toughest par five on the course requires three long yet accurate shots to reach the green. When hitting the approach, make sure to hit to the right hand side to avoid the bunkers on the left and back of the green.

Hole 14, 177 Yards, Par 3 This downhill par three requires accuracy from the tee to ensure your ball avoids the ditch in front and to the right of the green. Be cautious when putting because the green is deceptive and rolls from back to front.

Hole 15, 222 Yards, Par 3 Chobham’s signature hole requires a long iron or a fairway wood to clear the large lake that extends 170 yards from the tee. The well guarded green with four bunkers makes this hole a true test.

Hole 16, 326 Yards, Par 4 This short left to right dogleg par four demands a straight tee shot thus avoiding the trees that line the fairway to left and right. The approach requires a short iron onto a right to left sloping green. Beware the large bunker to the front right of the green.

Hole 17, 336 Yards, Par 4 The penultimate hole is a sharp left to right dogleg par four. For the long hitter, club selection is crucial to avoid hitting the ball into the lake at the end of the fairway. Accuracy on the approach is crucial if you are to finish with a relatively easy putt on the course’s most deceptive green.

Hole 18, 226 Yards, Par 3 The finale is the longest par three on the course which requires a well struck shot to carry the lake and avoid the trees to the right. Take care not to three putt on this large green which slopes from back to front.

Our clubhouse offers great comfort and a welcoming atmosphere

in which to socialise and relax either after a round of golf or as members of the club. Its location, with views over greens, trees and lakes provides a peaceful setting.

It has excellent facilities for members as well as those visiting the club for the first time. There are spacious changing rooms, a comprehensive Pro Shop and first class bar and catering including our excellent restaurant.

The restaurant serves a host of tempting meals including those from the chef’s special board which changes daily but which features some of the members’ favourites as well. Whether it’s a quick coffee before a round, a drink at the 19th with a bar meal, or a more substantial meal in the restaurant, our accommodating staff provide first class customer service that will make your visit to Chobham Golf Club a memorable one.

A successful innovation introduced to Chobham recently is our Golf

Academy Membership which offers the chance of lessons and to play the course. This is an ideal way for adults to sample the game before taking the step to full membership and will be particularly attractive to both beginners and those returning to golf after an absence.

It offers a fantastic all-round package including golf, tuition and the chance to make use of the club’s excellent off-course facilities. This membership is overseen by the Club’s PGA Professional and includes monitoring of playing standards, allocation of handicaps and assessment of readiness for full membership.

Whilst the membership is of one-year duration, fast improvers will be encouraged to upgrade to full membership as soon as they are ready.

We enjoy reciprocal golfing arrangements with the following courses:-

CorhamptonFounded in 1891 and situated 10 miles south of Winchester in southern Hampshire, Corhampton Golf Club is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, enjoying stunning views across hills, valleys and woodlands. The course plays 6378 yards off white tees, 6082 off yellows and 5788 off reds. A combination of natural contours, mature woodland and artfully placed bunkers provides a test for low and higher handicappers alike.

CuddingtonEstablished in 1929 on 166 acres of Surrey downland, the course was designed by the great Harry Colt. Easy walking and a great challenge for all players, each hole on the downland layout has been constructed to have its own individual character. What’s more, the chalk subsoil and USGAspecification greens ensure that the course dries out quickly in wet weather, meaning it plays on main tees and greens all year round.

Goodwood Park Golf CourseDesigned by renowned golf architect and player, Donald Steel, the Park Course winds effortlessly around the beautiful 18th Century parkland surrounding Goodwood House. The easy walking 6,650 yard course meanders through woodland and tree lined fairways to closely guarded greens.

Weybrook Park Golf ClubWeybrook Park was opened in May 1997 by 2 time US Open champion Retief Goosen, and European Tour Players, Howard Clark, Peter Hedblom, Paul Broadhurst. The course is a challenging layout but playable for all standards of players with generous fairways and small fast greens. The course has good length and from the front tees measures 6433 yards whilst from the white tees a healthy 6746 yards.

Woodcote ParkWoodcote Park is a part parkland, part downland course measuring 6,814 yards. Founded in 1912, the course consists of two parts – 8 holes at the “top” of the course and on the same level as the clubhouse, and 10 holes which slope down about 150 feet to flat ground before gradually rising again to the original level.

Members at Chobham enjoy a full programme of golf throughout the

year. There are fixtures against other clubs, together with much competition to be enjoyed alongside fellow members, some for silverware and some of a more social nature.

One of the big attractions to new and established members are the ‘Roll up’ games we host at weekends and in midweek, while our non-competition days are also available for members to come along and enjoy a friendly day of golf.

There is always something to suit your handicap, age and golfing desire at Chobham and you will certainly not be short of playing opportunities.

MenThe Men’s section at Chobham Golf Club has a regular programme of events including some with silverware on offer to the winners.

We have a busy calendar with medals, stablefords and trophy competitions played throughout the year, as well as ample opportunity for social golf.

As with all sections of the club, there is also a chance to represent Chobham in friendly matches, which are very relaxed affairs where enjoying good golf on fine courses and in good company is of more importance than the final result.

Two teams are fielded in local leagues - up to 14 handicappers playing matches for the Tigers with higher handicappers also being able to test their skills playing for the Rabbits.

LadiesThe Ladies section at Chobham is very well supported with a large programme of golfing events catering for all levels of ability.

Medal and stableford qualifying competitions are organised in the spring, summer and autumn months with qualifying stablefords in the winter. These are played both at weekends and midweek

We also play a number of friendly matches against other clubs on a home and away basis both midweek and at the weekend. These matches are very sociable occasions, with the chance to socialise and catch up with old friends as eagerly anticipated as the opportunity to play golf itself.

Ladies will find Chobham the ideal place to play and improve their golf and new members are assured of a warm welcome.

Mixed An important aspect of the golfing activity within the club is mixed golf and many members take part in the various events which are organised during the year. Every month there is a weekend competition and also a Mixed Texas Scramble which takes place on one Monday each month. Friendly matches are played against neighbouring clubs both home and away.

SeniorsThe Seniors are a very strong group within the club. Anyone aged 55 and over is welcome to join them at the roll ups on Tuesday mornings when they play either fun competitions or qualifying medals and stablefords.

A number of smaller groups also get together on other days for social golf.

We also play a number of home and away matches against other clubs and everyone is welcome to play, whatever their handicap.

JuniorsAt Chobham Golf Club we welcome juniors of all ages and standards to come and have a fun, safe and positive experience when playing golf.

Juniors and Students have the opportunity to play regular medal and stableford competitions and there are also matches against other clubs.

All activities are coordinated by our Junior Organiser who ensures that new members are introduced to other Juniors as soon as possible.

There isn’t a golfer on the planet who wouldn’t like to improve some area

of their game and those coming to Chobham for instruction and guidance are in very good hands.

Our professional, Michael Harrison’s, holistic approach to golf coaching sets him apart from many other instructors. He dedicates much of his time to player development and treats each facet of the game as a separate entity, covering the full swing, pitching, chipping, putting, course management and the psychological side of golf. This enables him to formulate a plan, tailored to the individual, to maximise that person’s potential in the least amount of time possible.

It is Michael’s willingness and application in treating every student differently, rather than impose the same universal swing theories on all, that have been the foundation behind his success.

Half hour and hour long lessons are available, with video analysis if required. If you feel you are playing well but perhaps not quite scoring as you would like, then a 9-hole playing lesson can be the answer with expert guidance how to swing like the pros, plot your way round like the pros and think like the pros.

of members, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the off-course benefits of being a member at Chobham Golf Club.

An extensive and varied programme of social events is organised throughout the year. Our aim is that there should be something to appeal to everyone, whatever their taste in entertainment.

The Club prides itself on the amount of social golf on offer to members with golf followed by entertainment in the clubhouse proving to be an appealing combination.

For instance, every June and August our members meet up for 9 holes of golf that are followed by a barbeque where the good natured competition on the course quickly gives way to post-match banter and where long-standing friendships are struck or rekindled.

The Club also likes to put on one social event a month, especially in the winter, and recent entertainment has included quiz nights, curry nights, beer and sausage tasting, race nights and a carol concert.

We also hold a Summer Party and a formal Christmas Ball.

Visitors are always welcome at Chobham where we provide a warm

welcome and a day out to remember.

You will find that the course provides an interesting challenge for golfers of all abilities. Although handicap certificates are not mandatory, we do prefer golfers to be of a sufficient standard for them to be able to enjoy their round.

The well stocked Pro Shop will allow you to stock up on consumables and to browse the wide range of golf equipment and clothing.

The staff can arrange for one-on-one tuition should you wish to brush up your skills before play. Golf trolleys and electric buggies are available, although booking in advance is advisable.

After the game, head to the clubhouse where you can relax with companions in the comfortable lounge or on the patio area from where you can view the stunning course as players negotiate the treacherous 15th hole. A full range of catering facilities is also available.

When used to its full capacity, the Montgomerie Suite can accommodate up to 200 people for a buffet or 140 for a sit-down meal. It can also be screened to achieve a more modest size if your guest list is not that large.

Chobham Golf Club is situated on the Chobham Road between

Knaphill and the picturesque village of Chobham with Woking and Camberley both within a ten-minute drive.

For satellite navigation purposes our postcode is GU21 2TZ.

Directions

From M3 Junction 3 Follow the M3 to Junction 3. From the south take the 3rd exit at the roundabout and from the north take the 1st exit both onto the A322. Follow the A322 until the signpost to Knaphill where you turn left at the traffic signals onto Limecroft Road. At the next traffic signals turn left onto Chobham Road. Continue for 1 mile and the entrance to the club is on the left.

From M25 Junction 11 Follow the M25 to Junction 11 where you turn off. At the roundabout follow the signs for Woking i.e. the 1st exit if travelling clockwise and the 3rd if travelling anti-clockwise. At the next roundabout take the 1st exit (A320). At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A319 signposted Chobham. Continue until turning left at the T-junction onto the High Street. At the mini-roundabout bear left onto the A3046 and then continue straight over the next mini-roundabout onto Castle Grove Road. At ‘The Grove’, bear left onto Guildford Road. Continue for ¾ mile and the entrance to the club is on the right.

Public Transport The nearest railway station is Brookwood which is just over two miles away. Eight trains an hour depart from central London with an estimated journey time of between 35-45 minutes.
