2019 CLASS STRUCTURE AND STAFF ORGANISATION We like to keep our school community well informed, however, in providing you with current organisation for 2019, we must strongly emphasis that structures and staffing can change at any time of the year due to student numbers, department policies and other events beyond our control. At this stage, we are very pleased to announce the following structure:

Early Stage One (Kindergarten) - if 10 or more students - Miss Anna Jenner

Stage 1 (Years One & Two) – Mr Sky

Stage 3 (Years Five & Six) – Mr Priestley

Library, music, Learning and Support – Mrs Slee

Learning and Support - 1 day a week – Ms Northey

Stage 2 (Year Three & Four) – currently advertised across the region and to be selected by staff & P&C representative through CV and reference selection process.

KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION DAYS Dates and times for Kindergarten Orientation sessions are as follows:

* Thursday 8th November 9am to 11am (including a parent session in library with the Principal and guest speakers.)

* Monday 12th November 9am to 11am * Thursday 22nd November 9 – 12noon * Thursday 29th November 9 – 1pm

Our year 5 students will meet their 2019 kindergarten buddies in the third session. Please spread the word if you know anyone with a child coming to Kindergarten in our Clunes zone in 2019. Y7 SELECTIVE SCHOOLS APPLICATIONS If you would like further information regarding application for 2020 Year 7 placement in a Selective High School please contact the office. There are no Selective High Schools in our local area. The closest is Grafton Agricultural School. SCHOOL PLAN FORUM Our school community will soon begin planning directions and goals for our 2019 – 2020 management plan. Meetings will be held prior to P & C meetings on Monday 5th November and 3rd December. Please contact the office if you would like to be part of this consultative committee. BYO DEVICES FOR 2019 We have received strong support for the introduction of BYO devices for Stage 3 students only in 2019. Mr Priestley is currently investigating all elements of this new initiative and will inform our school community of all information and requirements once this has been completed. Please do not purchase any devices as there may be an opportunity to purchase the devices at a discounted parent rate. The school is also looking at purchasing a set of upgraded iPads to support this program when it is ready to be implemented.

YEAR 6 DINNER It has been a tradition at Clunes Public that the Year 5 parents cater for the Year 6 dinner. Laura Hayward has kindly offered to coordinate this event and would appreciate other people to assist in the coordination. This role involves organising the dinner and delegating different dishes and tasks to Year 5 parents. If you are willing to take on this job, could you please contact the office and we can provide you with further information if you haven’t been involved before. This year the Year 6 students have again requested an Italian theme. Michelle Slee Principal

Expectation of the week “Follow instructions and consider others”

Don’t our Year 6 commemorative shirts look good! Assembly Our first assembly for this term will be on Friday 2 November at 2.15pm. All families welcome. Piano and singing lessons Lessons with Miss Mish started this week. Due to the intensive swimming program there will only be 7 lessons this term – weeks 1-6 and then week 9. Invoices will be sent out in the next few weeks. Head Lice Alert We again have cases of head lice in various classrooms. With the Canberra excursion happening next week, please take the time this weekend to check and treat your child/children. It is also recommended that long hair is tied up to reduce spread. Planned Electricity Outage From 10:00 am on Wednesday 7 November there is an electricity outage planned for the school whilst a new power pole is erected on the adjoining property. There may also be changes to traffic in Walker Street. Book Club Issue 7 brochures were distributed this week. Orders need to be in by Tuesday 30 October.
