CLUNES COMMUNITY NEWS PAGE 1 By Pat Hockey The first Clunes Farmers' Market of 2016 saw a good turn- out in warm conditions, with many holidaymakers evident among those attending. The relaxed crowd enjoyed the new main street venue where we were entertained by the Ballarat Ukulele Group (BUG) with renditions of several up- beat standards that had a good number in the crowd toe-tapping. The attendance of BUG contin- ues a program of entertainers at every market. Some terrific acts are already booked in for 2016. The range on offer at the market is never static and the January event saw the introduction of a new seller offering food with a Lebanese influence. A number of the stallholders commented on the fact that they enjoyed good sales despite having anticipated that the heat may keep the crowds away. For many visitors to Clunes the market is their first introduc- tion, so it's great to see the town putting on its friendliest face to greet all the newcomers. The historic streetscape of which we are all so proud, framing the finest local produce, is bound to leave a lasting impression. For anyone looking for a way to support this major event, help is always welcome with set-up or pack- down on market day. Just come along and say hello prior to start time on the occasion of the next market on Sunday, February 14. Keebles to Re - open Keebles Country House has new owners, Peter and Shelley Chandler. They intend to carry on Keebles' long tradition of outstand- ing hospitality. Peter and Shelley will reopen the guest house in March and return it to its boutique bed and breakfast model. Guests will be able to book individual rooms while still enjoying access to the grand reception rooms downstairs and the magnificent gardens, tennis court and putting green. Breakfast will be offered in the informal dining room, and a fun happy hour in the late afternoon will allow guests to sample local wines, beers and produce. Peter and Shelley are also keen to offer Keebles as a venue for weddings and special celebrations. Peter says, "When we told people we were buying Keebles House, so many had wonderful memories of the property; from a wonderful wedding to a glamorous party. We just want to carry on that experience of people enjoying special moments of their lives in such a beautiful and historic property." Enquiries: (03) 5345 4011, via AirBnB or www.keeblescountry- houseclunes.com.au. Pancakes and More Pancake Tuesday, February 9, will be held at St Paul's Anglican Church in Templeton St between 12 and 2pm. Sweet and savoury fill- ings will be on hand, plus a range of salads. Imagine the Possibilities Every two years, the Regional Arts Council of Victoria offers a Small Towns Transformation Grantto small communities who come together to seehow art can transform a town. In mid-December, the Regional Arts Council of Victoria held an information session about the 2016/2017grant round. The information session featured the many innovative, arts driven projects that added additional depths to some of Victoria’ssmallestcommunities.

PLUMBING INSPECTIONSThe vibration of the drilling and truck movement can be very damaging to the environment of the town and the ground surface and surrounds. In order to prove the current position and condition and state of your underground pipes and sewer systems and under house pipes and condition of fixtures, you need to get an independent plumbing inspection conducted which will have a written report and CD or USB footage included.I do not do plumbing repairs so will not try to drum up business for my self.I am very experienced with over 29 years in the industry including teaching at Fed Uni in Ballarat. My specialised inspection will cover underground sewer and storm water inspection using CCTV and water and gas inspection. These are the main components that are underground that can be damaged due to movement.I am conducting plumbing inspections in Clunes for the next 6 months to ensure residents have all the ammunition that they may require in order to help prove the condition of your plumbing NOW, compared to 6 or 12 months down the track.
