ALLOWANCES COORDINATE WITH BID PROPOSAL FORM
PART 1 GENERAL
1.1 SECTION INCLUDES

1.3 REQUIREMENTS
A. The purpose of cash allowances is intended to provide adequate budget and bonding to cover cost of items not precisely determined by Owner prior to bidding. Allow with the Contract Sum the amounts described in this Section.
B. Costs Included in Cash Allowances: Cost of product to Contractor or subcontractor, less applicable trade discounts; delivery to site and applicable taxes.
C. Costs Not Included in Cash Allowances but included in the Contract Sum: Product handling at the site, including unloading, uncrating, and storage; protection of products from elements and from damage; labor for installation, and finishing; and all accessories necessary to complete the job not listed in the description of the allowance.
D. Architect Responsibilities:
1. Consult with Contractor for consideration and selection of products.
2. Select products and estimate cost of repairs in consultation with Owner and transmit decision to Contractor.
3. Prepare Change Order, Construction Change Directive, or Architect’s Supplementary Instruction, if necessary.
E. Contractor Responsibilities:
1. Assist Architect in selection of products, suppliers and installers.
2. Present cost proposals from three suppliers and installers and offer recommendations.
3. On notification of selection by Architect, Owner will execute purchase agreement with designated supplier.
4. Promptly inspect products upon delivery for completeness, damage and defects. Submit requests for transportation damage.
5. Determine the quantity of product or material required to complete the job.

F. Product descriptions given in the specific specification Sections and listed below are given for reference to describe the type of product that may be selected.
1.4 ALLOWANCE SCHEDULE
A. Section 09 30 00, Ceramic Wall Tile; Grout joint repair – Include cost per square foot for re-grout of all existing wall tile area in need of repair (that are otherwise not called out to be removed) when submitting repair proposal. Allowance total for project is $7,500.
B. Reference Section 15772, Radiant Heat Flooring; include a per reconnection cost when submitting repair proposal. Cost should be for labor to make reconnection, tubing material, and testing. Allowance total for project is $10,000.
1.5 VERIFICATION OF QUANTITIES
A. Contractor will submit a list of quantities estimated for each unit price towards allowances listed above at the time of submittal, for the schedule of values. This does not relieve Contractor of responsibility for all quantities and takeoffs.

PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 SUMMARY
A. This Section includes radiant heating piping, including pipes, manifolds, fittings, and piping specialties.
B. See Division 15 Section "Hydronic Piping" for pipes and connections to hydronic systems.
1.2 SUBMITTALS
A. Product Data: Radiant heating piping specialties, including rated capacities and water flow and pressure drops of selected models.
B. Shop Drawings: Show piping layout and details drawn to scale, including valves, manifolds, controls, and support assemblies and their attachments to the building structure.
C. Operation and maintenance data.
1.3 COORDINATION
A. Coordinate layout and installation of radiant heating piping and suspension system with building and structural components.
B. Coordinate size and location of access panels to allow access to manifolds concealed in ceilings, walls, and floors.

2.2 HEAT-TRANSFER PIPES AND FITTINGS
A. PE Plastic: ASTM D 2239, SIDR-11.5 for service at 30 psig (210 kPa) and 140 deg F (60 deg C).
1. Fittings: ASTM F 1807, copper with stainless-steel clamps.
B. PEX Plastic: ASTM F 876.
1. Fittings: ASTM F 1807, [copper or brass compression] [copper crimping] type.
C. Single-Tube Rubber Hose: Braided-fiber-reinforced, EPDM elastomeric with extra carbon steel with high-temperature, oxygen-barrier cover; for service at 100 psig (690 kPa) and 210 deg F (99 deg C).

2.3 PIPING SPECIALTIES

2.4 RADIANT HEATING SPECIALTIES
A. Distribution Manifolds: Brass modular design with three mixing valve, main shutoff and balancing valves with thermometers, zone shutoff and balancing valves with flow meter, and identification plate.
1. Mixing Valves: 125 psig (862 kPa), 230 deg F (110 deg C) maximum operating pressure and temperature, brass or cast-bronze body, EPDM seals, and threaded connections.
2. Identification Plate: Valve plate shall identify room served and loop number.
3. If more than one loop serves a room, provide identification plates on manifolds to identify rooms served.
2.5 CONTROLS
A. Thermostats: 32 to 160 deg F (0 to 71 deg C), 3 position, 24 V for day and night setback and clock program.
B. Radiant Heating Control Sequence: Flow-through radiant heating piping is modulated to satisfy space thermostat.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 HEAT-TRANSFER PIPING INSTALLATION
A. Install piping downstream from manifolds without joints.
B. Secure piping in concrete floors by attaching pipes to concrete reinforcement using plastic tie straps.

1. Install a sleeve of foam-type insulation around tubing and extending for a minimum of 6 inches (75 mm) on each side of the slab penetration to protect the tubing passing through expansion joints.
C. Install manifolds in accessible locations.
D. Fill system with 30 percent of ethylene glycol-to-water solution.
3.2 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
A. Test Preparation:
1. Temporarily restrain expansion joints so they are not damaged due to test pressure. If temporary restraints are impractical, isolate expansion joints from testing.
2. Flush with clean water, and clean strainers.
3. Install relief valve set at a pressure no more than one-third higher than test pressure.
B. Tests:
1. Subject piping to hydrostatic test pressure that is not less than 1.5 times the design pressure but not more than 100 psig (690 kPa).
2. After hydrostatic test pressure has been applied, examine piping, joints, and connections for leakage. Eliminate leaks by tightening, repairing, or replacing components, and repeat hydrostatic test until there are no leaks.
3. Prepare a written report of testing.

Handicap Capital Column Showers Two to Six Station Models - Non ADA Compliant
Handicap Capital Column Showers Two to Six Station Models - Non ADA CompliantColumn Shower is heavy gage, type 304 stainless steel with satin finish. Column showers are completely pre-piped to the valve, showerhead, and optional soap system. All Column Showers are hydrostatically tested to 150 PSI.
Handicap Station is located at Station #1 and includes a lever handle diverter valve for hand shower and fixed upper head. Hand shower includes 60" long stainless steel hose and mounting bracket. Diverter valve is located at 48" above the floor (6'-0" discharge). Handicap station includes welded vertical 24" grab bar. Shower does not conform with ADA Accessibility Guidelines.
Showerheads are solid brass, triple chrome-plated and include a 2.2 GPM flow restrictor (not available in California, see Showerhead Options for alternate choices). The Acorn Logan Wizard Showerhead design provides self-cleaning with every use, and has an adjustable spray pattern from a coarse stream to a fine mist.
Bronze Manifolds and valve bodies are used for long life and maximum corrosion protection in all Column Showers. Fittings for connecting to 3/4" NCT inlets are furnished by others.
Control Valve type is indicated by selected Capital model number. All valves have replaceable cartridges, which contain all wearing parts and are serviced from the face of the shower for easy maintenance. Valve is tamper-resistant with an easy to close mechanism and low leverage handle to protect the operating parts from excessive torque. Control valve at handicap station includes lever handle when applicable. Note: Air-Control and Electronic Valves (-MVC, -EVS) must be located remotely or positioned above unit within -SC Supply Cover. Refer to appropriate factory installation detail for additional information.
Circular Soap Tray is furnished standard, except when Diana compartments are used. Built-in Liquid Soap is optional.
Drain Base is cast iron with a rust preventative coating, and provides a secure mounting for the column. If a separate or area drain is to be utilized, an Acorn drain base may be installed to provide column anchoring only or column may be mounted directly to floor. Option -LD Less Drain Slots is recommended on these types of installations.
Fasteners. Acorn furnishes all exposed tamper-resistant fasteners necessary to complete the on-site shower assembly installation; however, supply cover ceiling fasteners are not furnished.
GUIDE SPECIFICATION
Provide and install Acorn Handicap Capital Column Showers (specify model number and options). Column shall be 16 gage, type 304 stainless steel with satin finish. Column shall be factory pre-piped and hydrostatically tested to 150 PSI. Drain base shall be heavy cast iron with a rust preventative coating. Provide handicap station complete with diverter valve, fixed upper head, handshower and vertical grab bar. Showerhead discharge height shall be (specify). Shower shall be provided with the following optional equipment: (example -GG Unit Shutoff Valve). Installation shall be made in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations and details.
