Pastor Tom
Are you gearing up for our nation’s celebration of freedom and patriot-ism? We live in the land of the free and the home of the brave. What does that mean? At the beginning of our country and for many, it means the right to have a gun in order to protect yourself. We live in a country that gives us many freedoms. I am personally proud to have the blessing of living in a country where I have the freedom to assemble in a house of worship to openly praise and worship Jesus Christ. The Bible clearly teaches that Jesus Christ left Heaven. We learned last week from Scripture that “he gave up his divine privileges; he took the hum-ble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s
death on a cross.” Jesus took our sins on Himself as He took our place in paying the ultimate price for the pen-alty of sin. He was buried after dying for sin, and Scripture teaches us that He was raised from the dead on the third day. Jesus came out of the grave conquering death to prove that He is God. Scripture is clear when it states, “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved…for “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” So what do you do when you hear the name Jesus? This coming Sunday, we will follow Scripture which says,
“Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” I started this article with the idea of freedom to worship Jesus. Scripture is clear when it says, “And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” As a church family, we have the freedom to come together in excitement to worship Christ. As we do, I know the best is yet to come!
We want to thank you for the visits, the calls, the cards and especially
the prayers for John through his heart surgery and hope you will
continue to pray for his recovery. Jesus shows His love for us
through people like you.

I don’t know how to begin to say “Thank You” for everything! Through-
out my childhood and high school career, I couldn’t imagine having a better or more supportive church family. Thank y’all so much for the
NLT Study Bible. It is definitely “heavy” with knowledge!! Thank y’all for remembering me at this special time in my life.
Thank each of you for helping show me the way God expects Christians
to be. Please keep me in your prayers, as I begin this next journey in my life.
Love to all, Blake Lanier
