Zalita lives in Lusaka, Zambia where she has attended Awana for the last nine years. At the age of fourteen, she says, “When I first joined Awana, I did not know how important it was to know and love God. As I continued to attend Awana…I grew more spiritually and eager to learn more about Christ.” Zalita is very

excited about being trained as an Awana leader in the upcoming months.

Just as is the case with Zalita, Awana International works around the world training national leaders to reach children in their communities with the gospel and long-term discipleship.

This year, we are introducing Awana International’s 2012 Project Giving Catalog! This is a new opportunity

The Mtabila Refugee Camp has become the home of

40,000 Burundian refugees who have fled their home country to

escape violent guerrilla warfare. Country-less, homeless, and

haunted by tragedy and the fear of more attacks and death,

half of the refugees in Mtabila are children.

This year Awana is starting 60 clubs in the Mtabila Refugee

Camp to reach an estimated 4,200 children with the eternal refuge

that can only come through Jesus Christ. In the process, local

churches in Mtabila will be strengthened as 120 Christian leaders

are trained and equipped to run Awana in their local churches.

Through a gift given in your honor, the hope and refuge of Jesus

Christ is being shared with these children.

Children make up half the population of Kenya’s Mathare Valley Slum. These children are constantly

at risk of abuse, disease, violence, HIV/AIDS, drugs, and prostitution, just to name a few of the

horrific challenges they face.

This year Awana International will start fifty Awana clubs in this slum, reaching an estimated 5,000 children with evangelism and

Individuals in the slum areas of the Philippines make an average of 76 cents or less a day. Children in these communities face a lifetime of poverty and difficulty.Over the next two years the Awana Philippine ministry is expanding to bring evangelism and weekly, long-term discipleship to children in the poorest communities in the Philippines.
