Home News Venues & Events Church House supports Dreams Come True
Category: Venues & Events Created on Friday, 19 June 2015 09:45
Church House Conference Centre has adopted Dreams Come True as its chosen charity. This national organisation helps to realise the dreams of children
and young people with serious and life-limiting conditions.
Dreams Come True ensures that each child has an unforgettable experience fulfilling their dream, with long lasting memories to share with families, loved ones
and friends. From helping children to meet their celebrity hero and swimming with dolphins to providing vital sensory equipment and wheelchairs, the charity
helps hundreds of children every year.
Church House first supported Dreams Come True when the Westminster venue made a donation to the charity at its annual client showcase - Revel & Reveal – earlier this
year. The first official fundraiser for the charity will be at Church House’s annual Tea Party on June 19 with further fundraising and support planned throughout the year.
Sue Tiplady, fundraiser at Dreams Come True, comments: “We’re delighted to be working with Church House Conference Centre. It’s a real pleasure and a privilege to
welcome them and their team and we look forward to their support.”
From running the London Marathon for MacMillan Cancer to wearing red noses in support to Comic Relief and embracing pink for Breast Cancer Care, Church House’s
staffs have always been involved with charity work.
Robin Parker, General Manager at Church House Conference Centre, comments: “We work with many inspirational people. For us, to choose to support a charity on a
regular basis is not just ‘a nice thing to do’, it is a real part of our ethos as it echoes our team values. Dreams Come True is a fantastic charity with a dedicated team of
people working relentlessly to realise the dreams of hundreds of children. We are thrilled to be involved with such a great cause and are looking forward to help to make many
dreams come true together.”

Home News Venues & Events Church House serves up Dream Tea in aid of charity
Category: Venues & Events Created on Wednesday, 24 June 2015 13:45
Last Friday (June 19) saw Church House Conference Centre open its doors for its annual Tea Party, and this year’s event had extra significance as the venue
was participating in Dream’s Tea Week, a national fundraising campaign held by Dreams Come True to help realise the dreams of ill children.
A traditional English tea as well as summer garden inspired cakes and deserts, prepared by Church House’s catering partner Harbour & Jones Events, were served up, and
guests were also invited to decorate their own cupcakes.
There were also a number of fundraising activities to support Church House’s chosen charity – Dreams Come True – including predicting the weight of handmade fruit cakes
to guessing the number of sweets in the jar. There was also the opportunity to win afternoon tea at the Ham Yard Hotel. Church House matched the donations made by guests
during the event raising over £300 for the charity.
Robin Parker, General Manager at Church House Conference Centre, comments: “Our annual team party was a great success, and was made even more special through
our support of Dream Tea Week. Events like this not only give us the opportunity to showcase our event spaces but also the culinary expertise of Harbour & Jones Events.
The event is one of many we will be holding to support Dreams Come True over the coming months as our chosen charity and we are delighted so many people donated
towards such a worthwhile cause.”
Sue Tiplady, fundraiser at Dreams Come True, says: “We would like to thank Church House and their team for supporting our Dream Tea campaign. Every single person
who has organised, donated or taken part in a Dream Tea has been directly helping to release that power of dreams into the lives of some very special children.”
Church House Conference Centre is an AIM Gold accredited venue which offers 19 event spaces accommodating between 2 and 664 guests for a wide variety of events
including meetings, conferences, awards ceremonies, gala dinners and receptions.

Home News Venues & Events European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery goes under the knife at Church House
Category: Venues & Events Created on Monday, 29 June 2015 09:20
Experienced surgeons and medical residents from all around the world gathered at Church House Conference for a two day training programme (June 24-25)
organised by The European Association Centre for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACT).
The Westminster venue played host to the association’s latest course which focused on the subject of minimally invasive surgery, aortic valve replacement and
rapid deployment valves.
During the two days, cardiac surgeons honed their skills through interactive lectures, panel discussions and case studies, and watched surgical cases streamed live from St
Thomas’s Hospital, which gave delegates the opportunity to see an aortic valve replacement from start to finish including preparation, anaesthesia and how to set up the
operation for valve implantation. The event also enabled delegates to put their training into practice during a web lab, staged in one of the venue’s room.
Sharon Pidgeon, EACTS’ Event Director and Executive Secretariat, said: “Choosing to host the training at Church House Conference Centre was logical for us. The layout of
Church House‘s Assembly Hall was perfect for this event as it allowed a great interaction between speakers and delegates. The venue is also very close to St Thomas
Hospital, where the surgery was actually taking place, and being in the centre of Westminster is definitely a great added bonus for international delegates.”
Robin Parker, General Manager at Church House Conference Centre comments: “The European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery event is possibly one of the most
unusual we have had at Church House. It is a demonstration of our commitment to quality and high standards that they felt our venue provided them with all the facilities and
technical support they needed to hold their event. The two day programme was a great success and we are delighted to have been a part of such a ground-breaking event.”

Christians opposed to the arms trade will hold a vigil
outside Church House Conference Centre in
Westminster at the end of June.
The campaigners are calling for the Church of England
to stop promoting arms trade events.
The conference centre, which is the administrative
headquarters of the C of E, will play host to The Royal
United Services Institute (RUSI) Land Warfare
Conference 2015 on 30 June–1 July.
A second RUSI Conference, the Chief of the Air Staff’s
Air Power Conference, will be held at the venue
between 15 and 16 July.

speak at the event which is sponsored by arms companies, including the
world’s biggest arms manufacturer, Lockheed Martin.
Pat Gaffney of Pax Christi said: “The CofE statement on
ethical investment states that its investment bodies do
not wish directly to profit from activities that are inconsistent with Christian
values. How then is it comfortable to host and accept money from some of the
world’s biggest arms companies?”
Emma Anthony, of Fellowship of Reconciliation, said: “The Archbishop of
Canterbury, Justin Welby, should intervene and reject the arms trade for good.
Church House Conference Centre’s hire conditions state that not all events are
appropriate to the venue; surely this includes arms-funded events? St Paul’s
Cathedral will not take money from arms companies and Church House
Conference Centre must follow their lead.”
Symon Hill of the Campaign Against Arms Trade Christian Network said:
“These companies are not hiring Church House Conference Centre because
they want to support the Church. They are doing it because it’s good for
business. Unfortunately, Church House Conference Centre is giving practical
support and a veneer of legitimacy to an industry that profits from war.”
Robin Parker, general manager at the venue, told CN: ‘RUSI is a long-standing
and well-respected client. It provides a forum for debate on military affairs. We
are well aware that the campaigners plan to hold a small silent vigil at the start
of event.”
