We are all so proud of the kids, they did such and awesome job at LTC!! They are already excited and preparing for next year. They will be studying 2nd Samuel and the theme will be "Rescued." On page 2 and 3 is a list of the events and the awards they all earned. The puppet and drama team earned diamond awards. From what I understand they don't just hand those out. Congratulations to all the kids for all of your hard work and a big THANK YOU to all of the teachers, parents, and church family for your loving, dedicated support for our future Christian leaders.

An Easter Irony Responding to the terrorists attack in Sri Lanka By Greg Asimakoupoulos April 26, 2019

The irony can’t be denied. On Easter Sunday Christians cried as in Sri Lanka hundreds died while celebrating life.

A day for joy gave way to grief. The night was long. And sleep was

brief. An Easter nightmare terrorized the faithful and their young.

The One who robbed death of its sting who welcomes praise we freely sing now weeps with those with broken

hearts who bury loved ones lost.

Boys and Fifth Sundays I have talked with the elders that when we have a fifth Sunday in a month, we should have the boys lead most of our evening worship service. For this year, that is June, September, and December. During those months, I will work with the boys on song leading and speeches. I will give you, especially the parents, more information later.

Trials vs Blessings “We are too prone to engrave our trials in marble and write our blessings in sand.” – Charles Spurgeon

Beth-Shemesh: House of the Sun An archaeological dig in Israel

In 1948, some fighting took place at Beth-Shemesh in the Arab-Israeli war. Denise Fry’s research shows, “Beth-Shemesh was destroyed in the late eighth century B.C.E., during the famous military campaign of the Assyrian monarch Sennacherib. By 721 B.C.E. the Assyrians had put an end to Is-rael, the northern kingdom. They then turned their sights on Ju-dah and Philistia, to the south: ‘In the 14th year of King Hezeki-ah [of Judah], Sennacherib of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah’ (2 Kings 18:13). In a cuneiform account of this military campaign, Sennacherib boasts that he destroyed 46 of Hezekiah’s ‘strong cities,’ driving out over 200,000 peo-ple. One of our new findings is that Beth-Shemesh was indeed a ‘strong city’ at that time and therefore was worthy of attack by Sennacherib.”
