Three Reasons to Attend >>>>>

Practical Topic to Address Real Workplace Challenge: Coaching in organization has gained popularity in recent years for a good reason. With fast growth, shortage of capable leaders and the rise of the Y generation, organizations in China is facing huge engagement and productivity challenge. Coaching Culture may be a pathway to the optimal organizational resilience and performance.

World-class Speakers and Coaching Culture Practice: This conference hosts world-class experts and thought leaders, from world-famous Marshall Goldsmith to famed executive coaches such as Damian Goldvarg, Carol Wilson, Lance Tanaka, Brenda Bence and Jesse Hsu.

Passionate Peer Participants: The participants for the CECC are senior executives and HIPO managers from top companies. Companies keen to drive the coaching culture are growth-focused and forward-looking ones that win through talents and the coaching leaders.

Conference Overview >>>>>

The prestigious Chief Executive China (世界经理人) magazine named "Leader as Coach" as the #1 China Business Practice for 2012.

Executive coaching is today a buzzword in China as in a good part of the rest of Asia, and for a good reason. While still boasting the highest growth rates, China increasingly faces a bleak growth outlook not only due to the shrinking international demand for the made-in-China products, inflated house prices, the structural flaws in having too many powerful but inefficient SOEs, weak consumer spending, but also due to a dire shortage of global leaders and the LOWEST workforce engagement and productivity level among the major economies.

With the rise of the Y generation (80后和90后), who are more self-centered, independent and hungry for the coaching and development support from their supervisors, the game of engagement has now totally changed. In order to create working relationships and build a future for sustainable growth, organizations have to embrace new models of engagement based on trust, alignment, collaboration and development. In today’s global business environment of profound change, the leadership style that is based on hierarchy and control no longer works.

That’s why in recent years we have seen increasing interest, investment and use of executive coaching and China today is home to many world-class Coaching Culture initiatives with amazing outcomes. With more success stories being created by the China-based companies and elevated awareness of the benefits of coaching among senior business and HR executives, the demand for coaching will continue to soar and the eagerness for the experience to introduce coaching into organizations will spark further interest in the Coaching Culture topic.

Keynote Speech: Questions That Make a Difference

By Dr. Marshall Goldsmith, the world’s best-known executive coach and

best-selling author of What Got You Here Won’t Get You There and MOJO

In this fast-paced, interactive keynote, Marshall will share his latest research on how

daily questions can make a positive difference in both personal effectiveness and

employee engagement. While almost all previous work on employee engagement

has involved passive questions that lead to attributions about the environment,

Marshall will show how active questions can increase personal responsibility and

make a huge difference in engagement. Participants will learn how to build their own

daily questions checklist and how to use this process with their coaching clients.

Opening Speech: Inspiring Coaching Success Stories That Demonstrate the Power of Coaching and How Coaching Helps Develop Better Leaders

By Gary Wang, CEO of MindSpan Development, the Organizer of the CECC

In his speech, Gary will share a number of uplifting coaching success stories such as

Mead Johnson Nutrition, Lenovo, H&V and Neusoft to illustrate the power of

the competitiveness of the organization.

China Executive Coaching Conference2nd

In a Coaching Culture, all members of the culture fearlessly engage in candid, respectful coaching conversations, unrestricted by reporting relationships, about how they can improve their working relationships and individual and collective work performance. All have learned to value and effectively use feedback as a powerful learning tool to produce personal and professional development, high-trust working relationships, continually-improving job performance, and ever-increasing customer satisfaction.

Only 6% of the people who work for the Chinese organizations report being engaged at their jobs. To put that into perspective, the U.S. workforce is about 30% engaged. China's national workforce will be transformed - becoming highly productive and engaged - when its organizations hire and develop managers who inspire employees to give high scores on these items.

Creating Conditions for People to Perform: Coaching Linked to Positive Business Performance and Results

By Alan O'Neill Ph.D, Head of Executive Development, Jardine Matheson

Five years ago, Dr. Alan O’Neill, Head of Executive Development, GHR, Jardine Matheson Limited, was tasked with establishing a credible “coaching process” to support the ongoing development needs of the Group’s senior executives. After approaching several external coaching service providers it was decided to develop an “in-house” process specifically designed to meet the unique business and contextual needs of one of Asia’s leading conglomerates. This presentation will cover how the design team crafted the “Jardine Leadership Performance Coaching Process (JLPCP)” to equip a group of Jardine CEO’s / Executive Director level executives with the skills and tools to coach other senior executives across the Group. Alan will touch on some of the unique aspects of JLPCP and its emphasis on developing executives with the insights that contribute to the achievement of meaningful business results. The presentation will touch on how JLPCP is managed, why it is not an HR initiative, and perhaps more importantly, some of the valuable lessons learnt along the way.

Panel Discussion:

Facilitator: Rachael Regan-Paterson, HR VP China and India, Fonterra

China is now one of the key markets for most MNCs and for many sectors, still the only untapped big market in the world. With the American economy just out of recession and EU still deep in trouble, most MNCs bank on China and Asia for their continued contribution to global growth. While many CEOs know coaching works effectively for organization and leadership development and supports their winning strategies in the long-run, they do have their short-term pressure for numbers, especially for the public companies. How can companies balance their short-term pressure and their longer-term commitment to building a coaching culture?

Panel Discussion:

Today, the most serious customers for executive coaching in China and the rest of

Asia are still MNCs with HQs in the US or Europe and there are still a few roadblocks

to prevent the adoption of coaching in the Chinese companies such as lack of

openness, hierarchical organizational structure and culture and the corresponding

command-and-control leadership style, as well as the fact that they newer to

empowerment practices compared with their Western counterparts. How can the

Chinese companies introduce coaching into their organization? What might be the

2-3 first steps they can take in pursuing their Coaching Culture goal?
