Leprosy

Leprosy is……
A disease that is caused by the bacterium Mycobacteriumleprae
Causes skin sores, nerve damage, and muscle weakness
The two forms of leprosy are tuberculoid and lepromatous
Symptoms
Skin lesions that are lighter than your normal skin
Lesions that have decreased your sensation to touch, heat or pain
Muscle pain Numbness in arms, feet, legs and
hands
Treatments
Antibiotics, like dapsone and minocycline, are used to kill the bacteria
Aspirin and thalidomide are also used to control inflammation
Preventions
The best way to prevent leprosy is to avoid living really closely to people that have leprosy.
