BVROP INSTRUCTIONAL SCHEDULING MODELS

1. Distance Learning2. Blended Learning (Hybrid)3. Traditional Instruction

NOTE: We are starting with distance learning in alignment with Governor Newsom’s mandate on July 17, 2020. As COVID-19 stages

change, Baldy View ROP instructional scheduling models will accommodate accordingly.

Page 3: BVROP Educational Services

● Students participate in structured online or virtual instruction and learning with a class.

● Fully online model for all courses taught by BVROP instructors.● Online virtual instruction for whole group one day a week and online

virtual instruction for small groups (A, B) one or two days a week depending on originally scheduled days/times for each course.

● Having virtual instruction for small groups allows students to have contact in smaller learning communities and provides a manageable teacher to student ratio for any additional supports or clarification of lessons needed.

● Having one day of whole group virtual instruction allows for students and instructors to have whole group discussions mirroring traditional classrooms yet in an online setting.

● Smaller groups allow for better online connectivity.

Due to various bell schedules for each course, each BVROP course may be constructed based on one of the following models: 1. Day rotation 2. Early/late staggered 3. Combination of Day rotation and

early/late staggered

BVROP INSTRUCTIONAL SCHEDULING MODELSBlended Learning -- Overview

● Students are divided into Group A (Last Name A - L) or Group B (Last Name M - Z). ● Combination of learning occurs in the classroom setting and the remainder of student work is

completed independently at home. ● Traditional, in-person learning at specified set times for smaller assigned groups of students.

(Number of days depending on originally scheduled days and hours for each course)● Scheduled online virtual instruction for whole group one day a week.● In-person interaction/socialization with one another and instructor.● Social distancing and facial coverings in use at school.● Transition time allowing cleaning/disinfecting classrooms.● Parent commitment necessary.● Social/Physical Distancing at School● Hand Washing/Sanitizing at school with scheduled times for instructors.● Face coverings at school for students and instructors.● Seat markers to highlight social/distancing guidelines in the classroom.● Administrative scheduled break times for instructors to adhere to for each course● Student restroom use will require for a sign out/in prior to leaving class, only one at a time.

Campus security will be outside restrooms to ensure social distancing and physical separation occurs between two students at any given time..

Page 6: BVROP Educational Services

● Same Day: Groups A and B on the class roster come to school during a specified set time while the other groups come during another specified set time.

● Students divided alphabetically, in order to keep siblings on the same schedule as well as have a balanced group. ○ Group A (Last Name A - L) ○ Group B (Last Name M - Z)

● This schedule avoids some bottlenecks, including arrival, departure, and breaks.

● All students would get in-person instruction daily in smaller learning groups.

BVROP INSTRUCTIONAL SCHEDULING MODELSBlended Learning -- Day Rotation Schedules

BVROP Fall 2020 GRADING POLICY

Page 23: BVROP Educational Services

GRADING PROCEDURE

Instructors will provide instruction, assignments, and assessments using online resources. There will be a minimum of two (2) Google Meets per week (one small group and one whole group). Participation and assignments submitted will be used to determine grades.

The responsibility for determining and reporting student grades is a fundamental responsibility of the instructor.

Each ROP instructor will develop a grading procedure, which includes the objective criteria used to determine student grades. A class syllabus containing the grading procedure will be distributed and explained by the instructor during students’ orientation. This grading procedure should be based on objective performance appraisal and written instructor records, rather than on arbitrary judgment or a totally subjective viewpoint.

Final letter grades will be determined using all assigned work through the Term. Instructors may award letter grades based on the latest and best evidence of learning.

Page 24: BVROP Educational Services

GRADING RUBRICS will be used to determine grades as follows: A = 90-100%B = 80-89%C = 70-79% Certificate of Achievement and competency list only issued for a grade of C or higher.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------D = 60-69% pass

F = 59% or below fail

Baldy View ROP’s full Board Policy 5121 and Administrative Regulation 5121 for Grades/Evaluation of Student Achievement may be found at:https://www.bvrop.org/Content2/board-policies-administrative-regulations

Page 25: BVROP Educational Services

Final Grades for CTE and Performance Based Courses

Alternative assignments will be completed by students for requirements to meet certifications, participation in performances, competitions, and/or set number of hours of training, or similar tasks, to the extent that is practical, possible, and allowable per accrediting agencies.

Grade Communication

Instructors will use Google Classroom, AIM, and email to continue to provide students and parents with grade information. Our BVROP Student Records staff emails schools weekly as well as sends progress reports via US mail to students’ listed home address.
