UB Projects for 2014 Successfully Implemented Written by Ms. Cleopatra Simon The Laoag City government, through the leadership of City Mayor Chevylle V. Fariñas, has successfully implemented all the Bottoms Up Budgeting (BUB) Projects for Skills Training that were funded by the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for CY2014. The skills training covered Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) NC II, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC II, Small Engine/Motorcycle Servicing NC II and Consumer Electronics NC II. The program amounted to a total of Php 1.9 M. The City Government provided the travelling expenses of the 141 participants. In line with the skills training program, the Laoag city Government is coordinating with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), through the DOLE Kabuhayan Starter Kit Project,

The Laoag City government, through the leadership of City Mayor Chevylle V. Farias, has successfully implemented all the Bottoms Up Budgeting (BUB) Projects for Skills Training that were funded by the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for CY2014. The skills training covered Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) NC II, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC II, Small Engine/Motorcycle Servicing NC II and Consumer Electronics NC II. The program amounted to a total of Php 1.9 M. The City Government provided the travelling expenses of the 141 participants.

In line with the skills training program, the Laoag city Government is coordinating with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), through the DOLE Kabuhayan Starter Kit Project, for the provision of starter kits to Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) graduates who were assessed and certified by TESDA as home service workers. Through the Community Training and Employment Coordinator (CTEC) of the City Government, 38 recipients were recommended and later graduated with different Skills Training Courses, to wit:

Laoag City Mayor Chevylle V. Farinas personally awarded the Starter kits during the December 01, 2014 flag raising ceremony in front of the Laoag City Hall.
