My dear parishioners, Last weekend, a few parishioners asked me if I was feeling okay. I am grateful for the concern, but the answer is I was just exhausted, but a good exhaustion. The previous week I was away at the Priest, Deacon, Seminarian conference at the Franciscan University of Steubenville. Our seminarian Mi-chael joined me along with two other priest friends. We left on Father’s Day and arrived there on Monday. We came back Friday evening. After we returned, Michael and I immediate-ly went out to St. John’s University to meet up with our par-ish group attending Steubenville NYC. Fr. Evans was stay-ing with the group for the weekend this year. I heard confes-sions until 11:30 pm and then came back to the rectory. I had three Masses that Saturday and went back and forth a few times to St. John’s to help with confessions and came home around 12:30 am. I then celebrated the three Masses here on Sunday so Fr. Evans could remain with the eight youth (we wanted more, but a few dropped out at the last minute for different reasons). It was a beautiful but exhausting week. It was especially worth it when I saw the faces of our youth at the healing service with the Blessed Sacrament on Saturday evening. Our group was part of over 1600 youth who attend-ed the conference. It was a glorious sight to see all those youth on their knees, adoring our Lord Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. The healing service was preceded by the keynote address given by Sister Miriam Heidland, SOLT. Her Twit-ter name is onegroovynun. (Haha) She spoke of her life and how broken and hurt she was, before allowing Jesus into her life. She is the child of two 17-year-old high school seniors and her birth mother contemplated abortion before given her up for adoption. She lived in a foster home for three months before being adopted. Although she was loved at home, she suffered great pain. At 11 an older boy stole her innocence, at 12 she turned to alcohol to deal with the pain, at 13 she was raped, full-fledged alcoholic by 21 while attending a Division I college on full scholarship for volleyball. She lived a pro-miscuous lifestyle before giving her life over to Jesus and then found her vocation. I was so moved by her talk and grateful for her words; because I knew so many of the youth were suffering similar pain. Her witness and her pain helped so many of the young people to open their hearts to Jesus. So, yes, I was exhausted, but it was worth every second of the time spent leading others to Christ. Please pray for the youth so that this blessed time will have an impact on their lives forever. God bless, Fr. O’Connor P.S. Mis Queridos feligreses, La semana pasada, unos feligreses me preguntaron si me sentía bien. Estoy agradecido por la preocupación, pero la respuesta es que estoy agotado, pero del bueno. La semana previa estuve en la conferencia de Sacerdotes, Diáconos y Seminaristas en la Universidad Franciscana de Steubenvi-lle. Nuestro seminarista Michael y mis otro dos amigos sacerdotes me acompañaron. Nos fuimos el Día de los Pa-dres y llegamos allá el lunes. Regresamos viernes en la no-che. Después, Michael y yo inmediatamente nos fuimos a la Universidad de St. John’s para encontrarnos con nuestro grupo parroquial que asistía a Steubenville NYC. Este año el P. Evans se quedó con el grupo el fin de semana. Yo es-cuché confesiones hasta las 11:30pm y después regresé a la rectoría. El sábado tuve tres Misas e iba y venía unas cuan-tas veces a St. John’s para ayudar con confesiones y regresé a la casa alrededor de las 12:30am. Y luego el domingo celebré tres Misas para que el Padre Evans se pudiera que-dar con los ocho jóvenes (queríamos más, pero unos se sa-lieron a último minuto por diferentes razones). Fue una semana hermosa pero agotador. Valió la pena cuando vi las caras de nuestros jóvenes en el servicio de sanación con el Santísimo Sacramento el sábado en la noche. Nuestro grupo fue parte de más de 1600 jóvenes que asistieron en la confe-rencia. Era una vista gloriosa ver a todos los jóvenes de rodillas, adorando a nuestro Señor Jesús en el Santísimo Sacramento. El servicio de sanación ocurrió después de las palabras de presentación por la Hermana Miriam Heidland, SOLT. Su nombre de Twitter es onegroovynun (unamonjaestupenda). (Jaja) Ella habló de su vida de cómo fue roto y lastimado, antes de que permitiera a Jesús en su vida. Ella es hija de dos estudiantes de preparatoria de 17 años de edad y su madre biológica considero abortar antes de darla en adopción. Ella vivió en una casa hogar por tres meses antes de ser adoptada. Aunque en casa la querían, ella sufría un gran dolor. A los 11 un muchacho mayor le robo la inocencia, a los 12 se tiró al alcohol para lidiar con el dolor, a los 13 fue violada, a los 21 era una alcohólica totalmente que asistía a una universidad División 1 con beca completa por volibol. Ella vivió una vida promiscua antes de entregar su vida a Jesús y después de encontrar su vocación. Me conmovió su charla y estoy agradecido por sus palabras; porque yo sabía que mucho de los jóvenes estaban sufriendo algún dolor similar. Su testimonio y su dolor ayudó a muchos de los jóvenes abrir sus corazones a Jesús. Entonces, si, estaba agotado, pero valió la pena cada segundo del tiempo compartido guiando a otros a Cristo. Por favor oren por los jóvenes para que este tiempo bende-cido sea un impacto en sus vidas para siempre. Dios los Bendiga, P. Daily Mass A reminder that starting Memorial Day, May 30, we will not have

the noon daily Mass (Monday – Friday) until after Labor Day. This does not affect the 12 noon Mass on Sundays. We have many

open Mass intentions for the rest of the year, therefore the Mass book for 2017 will not be opened until September.

Flower Baskets Would you like to keep our altar

beautiful during the summer? How about donating a flower basket for the week? Each basket is $75 and can be donated in memory of a loved

one or given in thanksgiving. Donations received by Monday of

each week will have the memorial mentioned in the bulletin.

Bus Pilgrimage to the Holy Doors As Pope Francis has declared this the year of Mercy, Brooklyn has established Holy Doors at six churches

throughout the diocese. You have read in the Tablet and Nuestra Voz that other parishes have visited one or some of the Holy Doors. Now is your chance to visit all six in

one day. The comfortable coach bus will depart the parish on Saturday July 23rd @ 6:30AM and return at

approximately 9 PM. The bus ticket cost is $40 for adults and $20 for youths 6 -16 and free for children 5 or

younger accompanied by an adult or older sibling. Bus tickets are on sale at the rectory starting Sunday.

Sr. Mary Conroy’s Food Pantry and Outreach is sponsoring a raffle for JetBlue tickets to anywhere JetBlue flies: almost 100 domestic and international destinations! Two sets of a pair of tickets (4 in total) will be raffled on Monday, September 19th after the

12Noon Mass. Raffle chances go on sale at the rectory this weekend for $20/chance. Don’t miss this

El Papa Francisco ha declarado este año de la Misericordia. Brooklyn estableció las Puertas Santas en seis iglesias de la diócesis. Han leído en Nuestra Voz y en el Tablet que otras parroquias han visitado

una o algunas de las Puertas Santas. Ahora es su oportunidad de visitar los seis en un día. Un

autobús cómodo partirá de la parroquia el sábado, 23 de Julio a las 6:30 AM y regresará aproximada-mente a las 9 PM. El costo del tiquete de autobús es
