Intelligence down to the last detail.

Henry David Thoreau, American writer and philosopher

«The question is not what you look at, but what you see.»

Those who have developed high-quality products are faced with two options: to declare

themselves satisfied with what has already been achieved or to improve his performance

systematically. We have decided on the second option and have invested more than others

in research and development. In that we regard nothing as given and are dogged in our

insistence on following new paths, surprising prospects with respect to both general and

economic efficiency open up for you.

We set ourselves the highest standards in respect to convenience and energy savings. This

is why we consider efficiency to be a comprehensive attitude. We define added value for

customers and the environment as a triad made up of uncompromising quality, ecologically

long service life and intelligent thriftiness.

We question what is already there. That is how we create something new.

Our gear wheels have been given a completely new, non-linear geometry. This unconventional

adaptation is exceptionally effective: The motors become smaller and are given a new break-

away – precisely when they need it. For example, when a butterfly valve moves out of the

sleeve gasket while opening or closing. This means that you are getting actuators with even

greater ease of handling and thriftiness.

conventional motor and gearbox combinations create a linear torque.

This makes the actuators very energy-intensive. The S gearbox in

the Belimo motors achieve a very high torque for the first couple of

degrees of rotation – a so-called breakaway torque with unchanging

current – and reduces this to an absolute minimum for the remainder

of travel to the required angle of rotation.

Our patented motor control is equipped with a dynamic holding force detection. This means

that only exactly the required curret is used to keep the dampers or valves in their position.

This results in a lowering of the annual energy consumption of the actuator by as much as 70%.

Dampers and valves are in movement only 5 to 15% of the time.

At the same time, the actuators are used to hold the final controlling

elements in their current position – independent of changes in the

forces or pressures, respectively. conventional motor controls do

not recognise such changes. In order to ensure that the dampers or

valves do not move, they must apply twice as much safety current

as the Belimo actuators.

We detect the holding force dynamically. You save energy.

The trend-setting Supercap technology is the intelligent and energy-efficient alternative to

the mechanical spring-return. Because of the fact that the final controlling elements move

electronically into their safety positions, the permanent energy against the spring is dispensed

with. This means that you reduce electricity consumption of the actuators by up to 80%.

conventional emergency control actuators with spring assemblies

require considerable energy in order to tighten the springs on a regu-

lar basis and hold the final controlling elements in position. Supercap

actuators with condensers store energy – in a way comparable to a

reservoir – and do not release it until there is an electricity interruption,

in order to move the damper or the valve into the desired safety posi-

tion. The specially low-friction gearbox makes it possible to keep the

size of the condensers small and the design of the actuators compact.

We put our faith in Supercaps. You require less current.

If valves do not close completely tight, heating or cooling energy disappears unused in the

pipe network on a continuous basis. Our compact, air bubble tight closing characterised

control valves prevent such circulation losses – even with high differential pressures. In

contrast to conventional metal seats, the spherical valve cones with precisely fitting resilient

jointing do not cause any additional losses as they age. You then save energy on a perma-

nent basis throughout the entire service life.

The secret lies in the spherical shape of the valve cone and in the

special arrangement of seals which adjusts itself dynamically to the

sphere. The air bubble tightness is ensured for years as a result. By

contrast, conventional valves with metal seats experience increasing

wear and leakage losses can double over time. The patented charac-

terising disk of the characterised control valves ensures in addition an

equal-percentage valve characteristic curve. This means that you can

dispense with solid globe valves in many cases.

We make valves leak-proof. You avoid circulation losses.

In addition to the flow rate, the sensors in our electronically regulated valves also measure

the temperatures in the supply and return lines, e.g. with heat exchangers. The values are

saved in the integrated webserver for up to 13 months and are visible, e.g. onsite on the

laptop. The current consumption can also be depicted on the management system. This

way, you can analyse and document which direction the energy is flowing to and optimise

the energy flows of the hot and cold water circuits at any time.

The consumption of energy-intensive component such as coolers,

boilers and pumps is often much too high if heat exchangers are not

working efficiently. The integrated monitoring in our Energy Valve offers

points of reference for recognising this. The «ΔT Manager» that is also

included permits a fine-tuning of the system and ensures that the

exchanger is operated only within the range of its optimum performance

in terms of energy.

More comfort and at the same time massive energy savings: The Mp-Bus® from Belimo con-

veys the actual damper positions of the volumetric flow units and the needs signals from the

room temperature controllers to our Fan Optimiser on a continuous basis. The Fan Optimiser

calculates from this the actual requirements of the system and generates the control values

for the ventilators. This way they achieve a considerable reduction in pressure loss and elec-

tricity consumption and an audible reduction the flow noise.

real-time information at the field/room level is required in order to operate

a system in an optimum manner in terms of energy. With the Mp-Bus®

technology from Belimo, temperature, pressure cO2 and other sensors

can be integrated in higher-level field bus systems in the simplest manner

imaginable. This means that the system can be readily monitored at

any time and that energy consumption can be optimised. The marked

reduction in cabling requirements (in terms of both material and time)

also has a positive influence on the ecological balance.
