This home in the German speaking part of Belgium was designed in 2007 by the architect Josef Kirschvink, who was inspired by Bauhaus. Yvonne Hennes (Project by PHYL) realised the total layout of this striking country estate with approximately 360 m2 of living space. The challenge consisted of creating both an ideal living environment and a workplace: both functions had to be combined harmoniously and still be kept separate. The left wing of the residence consists of the garage, carport and the living area. The offices of the interior architecture firm are to the right. These two wings are separated by a piece of “sliding furniture”: a sliding bookcase adjoining the offices. Thanks to the size of the site (c. 60 are) the home could be designed in the width. The drive also leads to the entrance of the office wing. At the back of the home large windows provide the optimal incidence of light all day long. The covered patio also provides protection against both sun and rain. The top floor comprises separate areas for the parents and the children, with a bathroom, bedroom and dressing room. The discrete colour palette is in perfect symbiosis with the architecture.
