BARMERA PRIMARY SCHOOL
Newsletter Our mission is to educate, inspire and assist all children to value and respect differences and achieve their full potential.
No. 17 - 25th October 2017
Hi everyone
Welcome to Term 4! I hope you had a wonderful break
with your child/ren. We look forward to another
fantastic term of learning and school events.
A reminder that the next Student Free Day is on
Monday 6th of November. Teachers will be designing
high quality Mathematic tasks and assessing work
samples to ensure continued consistencies in
assessment and moderation.
At the end of Term 3 you would have received your
child’s Individual Learning Plan. These plans are an
important tool to show you your child’s learning goals,
next learning steps and progress. If you wish to
discuss your child’s plan or did not receive an updated
plan, please contact your child’s teacher and request
an appointment. Parent/carer, teacher and student
connections are very important to us at Barmera
Primary as we work together in the education of your
child.
Later this term, on the 20th and 21st of November,
2017, our school will be involved in an external school
review with a panel. The purpose of the review is to
support our school to continue to raise achievement,
sustain high performance and provide quality
assurance to build public confidence in our school. We
will find out the aspects of the school’s improvement
that have been verified through the review processes
as well as the improvements that we need to make in
the future. During the external review some students,
parents/carers, governing council members and staff
will be asked to provide information to the panel in a
number of ways including: interviews, group
discussions, meetings and visits into the classroom.
More information will follow over the next few weeks.
Have a great week! I hope to see you at Assembly on
Friday 27 October at 2:45pm.

MILO in2CRICKET Program – Boys and girls 5 – 8 years old
MILO in2CRICKET is a super fun, safe and social program. It teaches kids of all abilities the
basic skills of cricket. Each week your child will play game based activities that will keep them
active, whilst having fun and making new friends.
Berri has a MILO in2CRICKET centre starting Sunday October 29. The first session is a FREE
‘Come & Try’ session where you can come along and check out what it is all about.
For more information about the program or to register, go to www.playcricket.com.au and search Berri.
Hello everyone,
I hope you had a refreshing break. I’m
looking forward to a great term at Barmera
Primary. Term 4 always seems to go
quickly, with all the different activities,
concerts and end-of-year celebrations.
Before we know it, it’s Christmas! I hope
you have a chance each week to take
some time out and recharge. This is
essential for enjoying life and not becoming
burnt out. Find things which you enjoy,
which ‘fills your bucket’. It might be
Walking along the river or lake
Catching up with a family member or
friend for coffee
Swimming
We have submitted an application for funds to redevelop the
outdoor “classroom” on the lake foreshore. Classes use this
area already, but we would like to eventually have a
“classroom” structure there and provide on-site outdoor
learning experience for our students as well as students from
other schools. The site needs lots of work and money to reach
our goal.
You can support us by following these steps:
1. Go to, https://fundmyneighbourhood.yoursay.sa.gov.au/
2. Click “Vote Now”
3. Choose your location, type in Barmera and select it. Save your
location.
4. Zoom in on Barmera and select the brown pin point labelled
“Lakeside Learning Classroom”
5. Add to short list, either log in or register. You can add a minimum
of three and a maximum of five to your shortlist.
6. When you are ready click “My Shortlist”, make sure you have a
minimum of three and a maximum of five in your shortlist.
7. Click “Vote Now”
Watching a movie
Reading a good book
Getting a massage
Playing music
Baking or cooking
Relaxing in nature
That’s only a few ideas of many you could do
to recharge your batteries. I hope you have a
great term and if I can help in some way,
please come and see me or make an
appointment through the front office.
Best wishes,
Erin Harrald
