Sống đạo là gì? Điều đầu tiên chúng ta nghĩ đến có thể là sự đóng góp của chúng ta tại nhà thờ vào ngày Chủ nhật. Mặc dù đó có thể là một phần của việc Sống đạo, nhưng đó không phải là tất cả việc Sống đạo. Sống đạo là một lối sống, một cuộc sống hoàn toàn có ý thức và trách nhiệm. Đó là sự thừa nhận Thiên Chúa là Đấng Tạo Hóa và Chủ sở hữu của vạn vật. Người Kytô hữu Sống đạo coi mình là người ‘quản lý - đầy tớ’ tất cả các ân huệ của Chúa ban. Lòng biết ơn đối với những ân huệ này được thể hiện qua lời cầu nguyện, sư thờ phượng, đóng góp và hành động. Sống đạo là một cách sống. Đó là một cách để cảm ơn Thiên Chúa về tất cả các ơn lành mà chúng ta (đã lãnh nhận)
bằng cách trả lại cho Thiên Chúa một phần những ân huệ (chẳng hạn như mọi thứ chúng ta có, thời gian, tài năng và tài sản) mà chúng ta đã được ban cho. Đây là việc tự nguyện có chủ đích, có kế hoạch và tương xứng với tất cả những gì chúng ta có. Sống đạo khuyến khích mọi người tham gia vào nhiệm vụ xây dựng Nước Chúa. Khi chúng ta giải thích rằng Thiên Chúa đã ban cho mỗi người chúng ta một số những ân huệ nào đó, rằng những ân huệ này được ban cho để ‘sinh lời’ và chúng ta phải chịu trách nhiệm về những gì chúng ta làm với những ân huệ này, thì chắc chắn rằng tất cả mọi người đều nên cộng tác (việc xây dựng Nước Chúa). Sống đạo bác bỏ quan điểm rằng chúng ta phải "có tất cả" và thay vào đó, giá trị thực sự là sự cho đi, trong tình yêu thương, sự phục vụ và công lý. Sống đạo dựa trên các điều luật của Cựu Ước và những lời dạy của Chúa Giê Su Ky Tô. "Thân xác Đức Kitô không còn hiện diện trên trái đất này, nhưng chính các anh chị em, Ngài không có đôi tay nhưng là những đội tay của các bạn, chính quí ông bà và anh chị em là đôi mắt mà qua đó Ngài làm điều tốt, quí vị là đôi tay mà Ngài đang ban phước cho mọi người bây giờ ..." (Thánh Têrêxa Avila) Sống đạo sẽ tạo ra sự khác biệt gì trong cuộc sống của chúng ta? Sự khác biệt là động lực để cho đi. Chúng ta dễ dàng lười biếng và trì hoãn tất cả những mục đích tốt đẹp của mình. "Một ngày nào đó khi tôi có nhiều thời gian hơn" hoặc "Khi tôi đã đạt được mục tiêu của mình" hoặc "Tôi sẽ chia sẻ thời gian, tài năng và tài sản của mình, nhưng không phải lúc này". Chúng ta sẽ nói gì với những người cần cầu nguyện, cần một đôi tai nhân hậu, hoặc hàng trăm hành động sống đạo khác sẽ không được hoàn thành và những ân huệ mà Chúa đã ban cho chúng ta sẽ không được chia sẻ, nếu tất cả chúng ta đều nghĩ như vậy? Sống đạo thừa nhận rằng Thiên Chúa là nguồn gốc của tất cả các ân huệ và tài năng của chúng ta, và chúng ta là người ‘đầy tớ’ của những món quà này. Stewardship: Unwrapping God’s Gift in Us
What is Stewardship? The first thing that comes to mind could be our Sunday Offering at Church. While that might be part of it, it is not the be all and end all of Stewardship. Stewardship is a lifestyle, a life of total accountability and responsibility. It is the acknowledging of God as the Creator and Owner of all. Christian Stewards see themselves as the caretakers of all God’s gifts. Gratitude for these many gifts is expressed in prayer, worship, offering and action. Stewardship is a way of life. It is a way of thanking God for all our blessings by returning to God a portion of the many gifts (everything we have, for instance, our time, talent and treasure) that we have been given. It involves the intentional, planned and proportionate giving of all we have. Stewardship encourages everyone to participate in the task of building the Kingdom of God. When we explain that God has given each of us certain things, that these gifts are our responsibility to care for, and that we are accountable for what we do with these gifts, then there is no doubt that everyone should be involved. Stewardship rejects the notion that we must "have it all" and instead, demonstrates the value of giving, in love, in service and in justice. Stewardship is based on the spiritual principles of the Old Testament and the teachings of Jesus Christ. "Christ has no body now on earth but yours, no hands but yours, yours are the eyes through which He is to go about doing good, yours are the hands with which He is to bless people now…" (St. Teresa of Avila) What difference will Stewardship make in our life? The difference is the motivation for giving. It is so easy to put our lives on hold and with it all of our good intentions. "Someday when I have more time" or "When I’ve reached my goals" or "I’ll give my share of time, tal-ent and treasure but not right now." What will we tell those in need of prayer, in need of a kind ear, or the hundreds of other acts of stewardship that will go undone and the gifts that the Lord has given us that will go unshared, if we all were to think that way? Stewardship acknowledges that God is the source of all of our gifts and talents, and we are the caretakers of these gifts. Effective stewardship education and formation relies on leadership by example. Stewardship encourages us to make a difference and to become involved. It challenges individuals and families to re-examine their relationship with God, with each other, and with the workplace, the community, and the parish. It increases awareness and appreciation of the presence of the Lord in our lives. Where Stewardship has been implemented, both givers' and receivers’ lives have been changed. True conversion has taken place in the hearts and minds of many who embrace Stewardship as a way of life. May we always be grateful as we unwrap God’s gifts in us, and always show our gratitude by sharing those selfsame gifts. Fr. Andy C. Ligot, Pastor

The Legion of Mary will be celebrating the Centenary of their founding in Dublin, Ireland, with a Novena of Masses commencing on August 30 and ending on September 7 at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Joseph at 6:00 pm with Bishop Oscar Cantú presiding. Doers of the Word The second reading for today begins a five-week series of selections from James, a letter that is classified among the so-called “catholic” (or universal) epistles because they are addressed to a general audience rather than to one particular community. Today’s text offers important advice for Christians of every generation. God is first cited as the author of all gifts, and in particular, reference is made to the gift of baptism by which we have been made the “first fruits” of the new creation. What follows is advice based on a very Jewish understanding of the “Word” as an active force, operative in the world. We are reminded that unless we, too, become “doers” of the Word, our claim to faith is empty. Today and in subsequent weeks the author reminds us that it is equal-ly important to do the “works” of love, for example, by caring for the “orphans and widows in their affliction.” Copyright © J. S. Feast of Faith What Jesus Did, What Jesus Said
The oldest account of what happened at the Last Supper comes to us not from the Gospels but from the First Letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians: “I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus, on the night He was handed over, took bread, and, after He had given thanks, broke it and said, ‘This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me’ ” (11:23–24). In our celebrations of the Eucharist, we are obedient to Christ’s command to “do this.” The priest, acting in the person of Christ, does what Jesus did and says what Jesus said. He takes bread, gives thanks, breaks it, and gives it to the Lord’s disciples. He takes wine, gives thanks, shares it with us. We believe that the entire Eucharistic Prayer is consecratory, but we continue to hold these words of Jesus in special reverence. They are called the words of consecration, and the elevations of the host and chalice, the genuflections of the priest, and the optional ringing of a bell and use of incense remind us that we are in the presence of the Lord. —Corinna Laughlin, Copyright © J. MAYORDOMÍA: DESENVOLVIENDO EL REGALO DE DIOS EN NOSOTROS
¿Qué es la Mayordomía? Lo primero que viene a la mente podría ser nuestra Ofrenda dominical en la Iglesia. Si bien eso puede ser parte de ello, no es el todo y el fin de la mayordomía. La mayordomía es un estilo de vida, una vida de total responsabilidad y corresponsabilidad. Es el reconocimiento de Dios como Creador y Dueño de todo. Los corresponsables cristianos se ven a sí mismos como los cuidadores de todos los dones de Dios. La gratitud por estos muchos dones se expresa en oración, adoración, ofrenda y acción. La mayordomía es una forma de vida. Es una forma de agradecer a Dios por todas nuestras bendiciones devolviéndole una porción de los muchos dones (todo lo que tenemos, por ejemplo, nuestro tiempo, talento y tesoro) que se nos ha dado. Implica la entrega intencional, planificada y proporcionada de todo lo que tenemos. La corresponsabilidad anima a todos a participar en la tarea de construir el Reino de Dios. Cuando explicamos que Dios nos ha dado a cada uno de nosotros ciertas cosas, que estos dones son nuestra responsabilidad de cuidar y que somos responsables de lo que hacemos con estos dones, entonces no hay duda de que todos deberían participar. La corresponsabilidad rechaza la noción de que debemos "tenerlo todo" y, en cambio, demuestra el valor de dar en amor, en servicio y en justicia. "Algún día cuando tenga más tiempo" o "Cuando haya alcanzado mis metas" o "Daré mi parte de tiempo, talento y tesoro, pero no ahora". ¿Qué les diremos a los que necesi-tan oración, a los que necesitan un oído amable o los cientos de otros actos de mayordomía que no se harán y los dones que el Señor nos ha dado que no se compartirán si todos pensára-mos de esa manera? La mayordomía reconoce que Dios es la fuente de todos nuestros dones y talentos, y nosotros somos los cuidadores de estos dones. La educación y formación en mayordomía eficaz se basa en el liderazgo mediante el ejemplo. La corresponsabilidad nos anima a marcar la diferencia y a involucrarnos. Aumenta la conciencia y el aprecio de la presencia del Señor en nuestras vidas. Donde se ha implementado la mayordomía, tanto la vida de los donantes como la de los receptores han cambiado. La verdadera conversión ha tenido lugar en los corazones y las mentes de muchos que abrazan la corresponsabilidad como una forma de vida. MENSAJE DE LA CATEQUESIS Estimadas familias: Les informamos que a partir del 8 de Agosto se abriran las registraciones para la Catequesis 2021-2022: Primera Comunión, Seguimiento, y a Padres de Familia. Como dice el Papa Francisco: nuestra fé católica es una jornada que nos acerca cada vez mas a Dios Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo.
VOLUNTARIOS PARA LA CATEQUESIS Necesitamos voluntarios para que ayuden en la catequesis, como saben este es una llamada de Dios quien toca al corazón de la persona y le pide que hable en su nombre. La Legión de María celebrará el Centenario de su fundación en Dublín, Irlanda, con una Novena de Misas que comenzará el 30 de Agosto y terminará el 7 de Septiembre en la Catedral Basílica de San José a las 6:00 pm bajo la presidencia del Obispo Oscar Cantú. La Legión de María invita cordialmente a todos los feligreses a unirse a nosotros en cualquiera o todas estas Misas mientras celebramos este histórico evento de nuestra historia.
