Report for the period from January 29, 2021 to August 31, 2021

1. Examinations: a) First Monthly Examinations for classes V to VIII (online) and IX-X (offline) were held from

2. Admission Test: i) The Admission Test for class XI was held online on Jun 20, 2021. This year, the number of boys appeared was 555. Total 122 students have been admitted to class XI after an interview which was held from 22nd to 29th June.

3. Madhyamik Result 2021:

As the Madhyamik Examination was not conducted this year, marks have been awarded on the basis of

performance in class-IX annual exam. This year, 47 out of 129 students secured 90% and above marks;

while all 129 students got 75% and above marks.

This year, in preparing the mark sheet of the Higher Secondary Examination, marks of Class XI annual examination have been taken into account. 59 out of 87 students secured 90% and above marks; while all students got 80% and above marks.

5. Students’ achievement and Best School Award-

a. Our school was bestowed the Best School Award in MATHEMAZIC (an Inter-School Mathematics Contest) organized by Mayurakshi, a Creative Advertising & Communication Agency. Our Vidyalaya was awarded a cheque of Rs. 1,50,000 and a Gold Trophy for being the Best

Performing School 2019-2020. Moreover, 10 of our boys won the Certificate and Prize Money for their excellent performance.

b. Two of our students from HS Batch-2021 Sri Arijit Saha and Sri Avijit Saha, have been selected for ISI (Indian Statistical Institute), a premier and internationally acclaimed research, teaching and training institute. They have also made their way to CMI (Chennai Mathematical Institute).

c. Our school was adjudged as the Best Performing School- 2020 by JAGADIS BOSE NATIONAL

SCIENCE SENIOR TALENT SEARCH. Vidyalaya was also identified for the Special School Award for the year 2020 (Junior Group) on the basis of the performance of our boys (HS Batch- 2022).

(KVPY) is a scholarship programme funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, aimed at encouraging students to take up research careers in the areas of basic sciences, engineering and medicine. xiv) Sri Emon Suin of class VIII had the written online International LIMIT exam conducted by ISI, Bangalore on 19th(Objective) and 20th(Subjective) June, 2021 under Category A (Classes X and below). He successfully cleared the exam with All India Rank: 13. He got the chance to attend the online camp on and from 16th August to 22nd August. He was fortunate enough that the lectures were delivered by some of the most renowned Mathematicians of India.

6. Celebration & Cultural Programme: – a) Bhavana Jayanti:

Swami Yogananda Jayanti was celebrated on 1st April, 2021. The Bhavana was well decorated by the students as they were, at that time, in our campus. Special puja was organised and noon Prasad was served. Bhavana Jayanti of Gadadhar Bhavana was held on the auspicious occasion of Snan Yatra on 24th June, 2021. Special puja of Sri Sri Thakur, Maa and Swamiji was held at the shrine of Niranjanananda Bhavana on Sunday, 22 August, 2021 on the auspicious Janmatithi of Swami Niranjananadaji Maharaj. Some of the members of the teaching and non-teaching staff of our Vidyalaya attended the shrine and had noon Prasad at the dining hall of the

Bhavana.

b) Saraswati Puja was organised, as in the previous years, in

the Senior Section Assembly Hall on 16th and 17th February. The present as well as the Ex-Students of different sections of our Ashrama, teachers, guardians and the devotees took part along with Sanyasis and Brahmacharins. The school building was artificially decorated. Prasad was served to everybody present.

c) Vidyarthi

Vrata (Students’ vow taking ceremony) for the newly admitted boys of classes V and XI was held on 28th February 2021 in the Junior Section Assembly Hall. Our respected Secretary Maharaj, Headmaster Maharaj, other monks, Brahmacharins, teachers and staff were present to bless the newly admitted boys. The parents

were also present. All took lunch – Prasad after the function.

d) Maha Shivaratri was celebrated on 11th March, 2021 at Junior Section Assembly Hall. Students of classes IX, X and XI observed fast on that day and took part in the Puja in the evening. They chanted hymns, sang devotional songs and

offered prayers to Lord Shiva. After offering ‘Anjali’ they partook of Prasad. e) Sri Sri Ramakrishna Jayanti was observed on Monday, 15 March, 2021. The program was held at Swami Lokeswaranada Auditorium (New College Building). ‘Phalguni’, the annual magazine of our Vidyalaya was published by our Secretary Maharaj.

f) Special Puja was held at Junior Section Assembly Hall on the occasion of Dolyatra on 28th March, 2021.

g) The Annual Prize Giving Ceremony-2021 was held on 13th April, 2021. Mr. Mani Shankar

Mukhopadhyay (Shankar) was the Guest of Honour and was felicitated by our school on the occasion of his getting honoured with the Sahitya Akademi Award-2020. Swami

Shivapradananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith, Purulia presided over the

ceremony and Dr. Anindya Narayan Biswas, IAS, Commissioner of School Education, Govt. of West Bengal was the Chief Guest. After the program was over, members of the teaching and non-teaching staff partook of lunch at the dining-hall of Turiyananda Bhavana.

A Cultural programme, in this connection, was organised

in the evening. This included a Mime Act by our teachers and a Creative Dance by the students. Students of classes IX and X staged a drama ‘Rathayatra’ (based on Rabindranath Tagore’s ‘Kaaler Yaatra’). A musical programme by Sri Tridib Parui and his band ‘Prayas’ was also arranged on 14th

April, 2021. The whole program was held in Swami Lokeswarananda Auditorium of the new college building.

h) Rabindra Jayanti was observed virtually on 9th May, 2021. Sri Chandril Bhattacharya, eminent

lyricist, writer and an alumnus of our Vidyalaya delivered the keynote address.

i) Shankaracharya Jayanti was observed online on 17th May, 2021. Prof. Shantanu Bhat, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Philosophy, Ramakrishna Mission Residential College, Narendrapur was the keynote speaker.

j) International Yoga Day- 2021 was celebrated online on

21 June, 2021. Boys of classes V to VII attended. k) Ratha Yatra was celebrated on Monday, 12 July, 2021. Members of the teaching and the non-teaching staff of our Vidyalaya who were inside the campus gathered and pulled the well decorated chariot (Ratha) around the campus of our Ashrama jubilantly. l) The 75th

Independence Day was celebrated online on Sunday, 15th August, 2021. Students participated in the virtual program comprising of song, recitation, speech and yoga dance. Swami Sarvapriyananda, Minister and Spiritual Leader of the Vedanta Society of New York delivered the keynote address. He spoke on the topic 'From Political Freedom to Spiritual Freedom'. The program was streamed on the YouTube channel of our Vidyalaya.

m) Sri Krishna Jayanti (Janmastami) was observed on 30th

August, 2021 at the Prayer Hall of Vijnanananda Bhavana. In the morning prayer, chanting from Gita was performed and Shyamnam Sankirtan was held in the evening prayer.

7. Cultural Competition: -

a) Annual Music Conference-cum-Competition-2021 for classes VIII to X was held on 12th March, 2021. Students of Classes IX and X attended the program physically as they were present at that time.

Batch 2020 of our Vidyalaya organised the online Quiz Competition with much sincerity. Class XII became champion. 8. Popular Talk: - a. A popular talk show on International Women’s Day was

arranged on Monday, 8th March, 2021 in the Assembly Hall of the Senior Section. Prof. Achintyam Chatterjee, Former Professor, Department of Political Science, Ramakrishna Mission Residential College, Narendrapur and Dr.

Gopa Dutta, Former Vice-Chancellor, Gour Banga University delivered lectures. Students of classes IX and X attended the program.

b. A popular talk was delivered by Sri Krishna Mandal, Philosophy teacher of our Vidyalaya on 28th March. He spoke on the subject ‘Gaudiya Vaishnava Philosophy and Literature in Light of Shri Chaitanya Mahapatra’.

c. A popular talk was delivered by Sri Narayan Das, Residential Teacher, Vijnanananda Bhavana on 22 March, 2021. He spoke on the subject ‘Status of Indian Women: From Ancient Age to Present Day’.

d. A Motivational Speech was delivered on 4 June 2021 for the boys of class XII by Dr. Jyotirmoy Samadder, a Psychiatrist and an alumnus of our Vidyalaya. 9. Development: - a. The new Conference Hall named after Swami

Krishnamayananda was inaugurated on 23rd July, 2021. No formal inauguration program was held. The

first meeting of the Managing Committee of our Ashrama for the session 2021-22 was held in the hall after the inauguration.

b. Inauguration of Swami Asaktananda Seminar Hall on Independence Day: The newly decorated Swami Asaktananda Seminar Hall was inaugurated on 15th August by our Secretary Maharaj and the Independence Day program of our Ashrama was held in the hall. The chief guest of the program was Col. Tamojyoti

Das, an alumnus of our Vidyalaya. The hall was renovated with the financial assistance of

1968 Higher Secondary Batch of our Vidyalaya.

10. Miscellaneous: -

a) Sri Jaharkali Chatterjee, Asst. Teacher, Dept. of Life Science and Sri Lalmohan Parua, a non-teaching staff member of our Vidyalaya retired from their job officially on 31st January, 2021. The farewell function was held on 1st February, 2021 and a friendly cricket match was arranged between teaching & non-teaching staff and Housemasters & PG brothers.

b) Our Vidyalaya got a brand

new Toto on 3rd February, 2021. It was an initiative of 1973 Madhyamik Batch. c) Swami Tatparananda (Somesh Maharaj) took charge as the Senior Section Coordinator and the Chief Housemaster of Akhandananda Bhavana on 16th March, 2021. He is also in the charge of Sports

department of the Vidyalaya.

d) A Formal Inaugural Meeting of the HS Batch: 2020-22 was held on 22nd February, 2021 in the Senior Section Assembly Hall. Prof. Sushobhan Sengupta, Associate Professor, Dept. of History, Ramakrishna Mission Residential College, Narendrapur and Prof. (Dr.) Kiranmoy Das, Associate Professor, Applied Statistics Division, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata were present as guests.

e) COVID-19 Vaccination: Free vaccination camp was held at our Vidyalaya on Sunday, 20th June, 2021 for the staff members of our Vidyalaya and their family members along with few Praktanis and their family members. It was an initiative by the Vidyalaya Praktani Association (NRVP) in

collaboration with RN Tagore Hospital, Kolkata. f) The farewell meeting of Sri Gopal Jana and Sri Biswanath Naskar of our Phalguni Press was held on 26th June, 2021 at the Conference Hall of the Senior Section. g) A Formal Inaugural Meeting of the HS Batch: 2021-23 was held on 8th July, 2021 in the

Senior Section Assembly Hall. Our Secretary Maharaj presided over the meeting. Swami Vedapurushanandsa, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Jhargram and Ex-Headmaster of our Vidyalaya addressed the students online.

h) We lost Sri Sagnik Chatterjee, a student of Class-XII (HS Batch-2021) on 2nd July, 2021 as he passed on most unexpectedly and surprisingly. He could not be found from the afternoon and

after a frantic search his body was found in the second floor of his maternal uncle's house. i) E-Orientation Program for the Teachers: All the teachers of our Vidyalaya participated in an e-Orientation Programme conducted by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies on 25th, 26th and 27th August, 2021.
