GIST OF OFFENSE: Early Saturday morning on June 17; 2006, at or about 4:00 am, the abovenamed five victims were inside of a blue SUV located on Josephine Street. At some point in the

. early morning, a gunman (later identified as Michael Anderson) opened fire on the SUY and its occupants. As a result, all five oCllupants died.

STATEMENT BY DEFENDANT: Yes; Unrecorded statement to NOPD.

Upon hearing that he was a suspect in this multiple homicide, Michaei Anderson went to the Sixth District Station. According to Anderson, on Friday, Junl; 16, 2006, he and his girlfriend (Amika Jones) checked into the BourDon Orleans Hotel at approximately noon. After checIcing in, he and Jones went down Bourbon Street to Chris Owens Club (but could not specifY the time at which he left the hotel). Anderson further stated that he and Jones returned to the Bourbon Orleans at about 2:00 am (Saturday, June 17,2006) and remained in the hotel room with Jones the remainder of the morning. According to Anderson, the only person who could verifY their presence in the hotel room at that time was the hotel clerk.

Anderson further stated that he and Jones checked out of the hotel at 12:00 pm (noon) on Saturday, June i 7, 2006, Anderson does not explain his whereabouts during Saturday afternoon and night except that he spent the night with a female (whom he refused to name). Anderson stated that he spent the following night (Sunday, Jun 18,2006) in Room 1004 of the Quality Inn with a person known to him as "Warren C." No other information was forthcoming from Anderson.

.. Checked in Quality Inn on st. Charles & Thalia,at or about 515:30 pm Three left hotel to get daquiri and then walked to RC's moms' house (Jeanette Cobbins) located on Clio in the Melpomene Projects

~ Jeanette upstairs getting hairdone-:-waiked back to hotel about 9pm • \0:10:30, the three went to SAM's CLUB to get hands stamped • walked back to hotel and stayed for I hour • All three returned to SAMS where RC and Kentrelle purchased Ecstacy (X) and

comsumed it. NOTE: RC had been "popping pills" and "smoking" crack.

W told RC to leave--RC witnes~ and Kentrelle left for hotel • W left hotel for Popeyes around 1:30 - bOUght Family Meal • Returned to hotel & ate and watched TV wI RC and Kentrelle • RC and Kentrelle smoIcing crack in bathroom • At 2:30 RC left to go to Club to find more crack • At 4 am RC returned accompanied by "Thomas" • W was pissed and asked Thomas to leave--iJrug transaction completed for $40.00

Proceeds down Saratoga where the crackheads stay • ·Then decided to go look for RG at Aunt Mabel hoUse on Josephine • Hears Gunshots and glanced towards shooter ... , Made eye contact with MA-only hear/saw 3 SHOTS • Ran to side alley ofMabels house ;; Ran up the steps to Mabel's porch while beating onthe door. .. Mabel let her in door • .', W tells Mabel that five boys were shot and MA was the gunman • Then all ran to back room of house .' RC was NOWHERE in the area nor was he ever seen during this incident • Denies ever receiving any monies from Crimestoppers or othet sources.

Please be familiarize yourself with the following:

any and all police reports, medicals, crime lab reports, photos, diagrams etc.) You must detennine what-if anything-has been given to the defense counsel. If you cannot determine what documents (if any) have been turned over OR if there is any question at all as to compliance, you must provide all responsive documents to the defense counsel without delay. If you do not know what is discoverable or have any questions regarding particular documents, see me immediately. Any documents turned over to the defense must be accompanied by the attached State's Response (V.O.U. Form 1). BE SPECIFIC IN YOUR RESPONSES-Clarity noW avoids scrutiny later. (e.g., indicate number of pages in each report, type of report provided, etc.)

8. Make certain that all documents provided to defense are readable, cleat and copied within the margins of the page.

9. As to pretrials, be prepared to discuss the number of and the call order of all essential witnesses and your voir dire.

10. Before calling your first witness, a REQUEST for SEQUESTRATION is always required.

1. All files must be arranged according to the mandatory file organization chart provided to all attorneys.

2. In victim cases, I will not pre-try with you if you have not spoken in depth about the case with the victim and/or witnesses.

3. Activity Sheets must be contained in all files. Documentation of all of your contacts/efforts is essential..

4. The Bills ofInformation MUST be carefully reviewed upon receipt. The 1301 is yout CHARGING INSTRUMENT and the FOUNDATION OF YOUR CASE. If the BOI is incorrect, missing information or if it contains grammatical errors, it must be amended in court at the first setting.

5. Ifthe Defendant has used an alias, the BOr must be amended to include any and all such names.

6. All papers contained within the file must be properly secured (i.e., hole-punched).

7. Do not give me any files to review without a complete work-up sheet.

8. You must assure that all prior convictions of a defendant are properly documented. Determining the correct bill status is essential for trial andlor any multiple offender hearing.

9. The Bill Status for each defendant should be written on the front of the case file.

10. Files to be reviewed should be placed in the basket on my bookcase. Once reviewed, they will be returned to you.

11. All pre-trials MUST occur 72 hour PRIOR to motions and trial, without exceptioh.

12. Any Defense discovery MUST be answered within 10 days of being propounded on the State. If the discovery was previously answered·by your predecessor, you must carefully review all State responses as they may be incorrect or may have changed. Arty Responses to Defense Discovery must be accompanied by the attached samp1e form and be filed in the court record. .
