IN ORGANIZATIONAL ANALYSIS, MANAGEMENT IS VIEWED AS A

    SUBSET OF ADMINISTRATION?

Firstly we will discuss that what is administration and management:

    ADMINISTRATION:

Administration can be defined as the universal process of organizing people and

resources efficiently so as to direct activities toward common goals and objectives.

    MANAGEMENT:

Management is the act of getting people together to accomplish desired goals and

    objectives.

Now we will discuss that how management comes under administration.

Administration is concerned about the determination of objectives and major policies of

an organization while management puts into action the policies and plans laid down by

the administration. Administrators are the one who create rules and managers are the

    one who implement the rules.

Administration decides what a business is going to do--big-picture decisions like

changes in products/services, expansion. While management oversee the work of

departments and of individual workers, making sure certain goals are met.

Administration is wider in scope and it is a top level activity while management is

narrower in scope because it takes decisions within the framework set by the

administration and it is middle level activity.

Administration is an administering which is then to manage the affairs of or to direct or

superintend the execution use and in contrast management is the development of

people and not the direction of things.

Administration deals with planning, organizing, budgeting or financial part oforganization while motivating and controlling functions are involved in management.

Finance is the most important department of any organization and control on finance

takes the administration above the management.

Administration is a process while management consists of activities and it is said that

    process contains activities.

Administration connected with keeping record, information processing and paper work

while management associated with the technical and mundane elements within an

organizations operation. It stands distinct from strategic work.

    VIEWS OF PHILOSOPHERS:

Here views of some philosophers are given in the favor of the discussion.

    OLIVER SHELDON:

Management is defined as the function concerned in the execution of policy within the

    limits set up by administration.

Administration is the function concerned in the determination of the corporate policy.

    SPRIEGEL AND DAVIES:

Management is a part of administration, That phase of a business enterprise which

concerns itself with the overall determination of the major policies and objectives is

Administration whereas the executive function which concerns itself with the

carrying out of the administrative policies laid down by administration is

    Management.

    CONCLUSION:

After going through all the points and views of philosophers, we can clearlyunderstand that all the activities of management come under administration however,

management is a vital part of administration but it is proved that in organization,

management is a subset of administration.
