Dear all
At the back of this newsletter you will see a cartoon which was drawn by Angela Man. As you can see this is a classic example of how talented students are at APA - not only in Art and Multi Media but also Sport, Music and Drama. As I have mentioned before, recently there has been a lot of books written about what makes a person successful and is it just examination results? Most people would agree that this is not the case and that the whole person is important. Certainly when you apply to university or for jobs, people are looking to recruit more rounded individuals who can demonstrate skills such as dedication, teamwork and resilience. When reading through a CV or application form usually people look for evidence of this through a person’s personal interests and hobbies, many of which they have developed during their school years. So, seeing as it is January, it might be the right
time to make a resolution to expand your horizons and join one of our extra-curricular clubs featured in this newsletter and make yourself a more rounded individual!
Have a good weekend !

Message From the Heads of HouseBRUNEL: Mr Glyn
I would like to congratulate all of the students below on their excellent progress last term. Hopefully they will continue to maintain these high standards that they have set and I look forward to seeing some new names among
the end of term nominations this time round. Remember the old saying, ‘as long as you have done your best, then no one can do more’ and ask yourself the question, have I really tried my best consistently?

Message From the Heads of House
School Council
TURING: Ms Brimacombe
Well done to all KS3 students for completing their holiday homework and handing it in on time. Some of the projects I saw were brilliant!
A reminder to all students please; facial piercings are not allowed and you should only be wearing one small pair of plain studs in your ears.
Also, we came third last week in the attendance, so we need to try really hard this week to pick it up. Remember, all of you should be aiming for at least
95% attendance.
An update on my marathon training. I ran 17.5miles last Saturday. It took me 2hours 48minutes, so I am on track to complete the marathon in approx. 4 and a half hours! If any of you have any training tips then please feel free to let me know!
I hope you all enjoyed our talk from Genni from the Rainbow Trust on Thursday. Please let me or your tutors know if you have any new fundraising ideas.
I hope you have all had a peaceful week!
TURNER:Mr Richards
Dearest Turner House.
Well done on getting top of the attendance board for last week and to Mr Solari’s group for being the highest attending tutor group out of any as well.

I hope everyone can keep their commitment to getting into school as much as possible up, as we only four points behind Dickens on the overall leader board. You must also remember to show courtesy to Mrs Scully and your tutors by signing in when you come in late after registration and seeing your tutors at the end of the day for your late detentions.
There will be a School Council next Friday, so tutor reps will be gathering your thoughts on the new school lunches and any ideas for Sport Relief, which is coming up soon. Have a thin over the weekend so there is plenty to say next week. Also think about any other business you would like your House Council and School Council Reps to address as it is through them that you can have your say about anything that might be concerning you.
Have a great weekend.
