Château Musar, Bekaa Valley, Lebanon
For over 6,000 years, wine has been produced in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley. Founded in 1930,
Château Musar has become one to the most esteemed wineries in the world. In 1984, when
Britain’s “Decanter Magazine” named their first ever “Wine Man of the Year,” it was given to
Gaston Hochar of Château Musar.
Page 14
Château Musar White 1998 ~ A blend of two ancient varieties, Obeideh and Merwah, thought to
be ancestors of Chardonnay and Semillon. Partially barrel fermented, and then barrel aged. It
receives four years of bottle age prior to release. Very full, complex, nutty. This was a great treat
to share with Chef Lou on his wedding anniversary. Musar is a really long lived dry white.

complex with solid tannins. Some tea and vanilla aromas, coffee brown sugar. These wines are so
amazingly complex and seem to age forever. There is some style similarity to an older Rioja of
Spain, but these flavors are unique. Pair with one of our great aged steaks and enjoy the ride.
