American Central Transport, Inc. April — June 2017 ACT’S DRIVERS BUILT THIS COMPANY, SO WE BUILT THIS FOR OUR DRIVERS BY: Phil Wilt, President & C.O.O. ACT ION L INE At American Central Transport, family has always been important to us. But on June 6 th , our desire to be a home away from home became even more of a reality, as we celebrated the Grand Open- ing of our new ACT Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri. It was an exciting event for us as we dedicat- ed our new building with a blessing of the building, facility tours, DJ music and a lunch featuring ACT’s famous steak sandwiches. The new ACT Plaza houses our Corporate Office, Maintenance Facility, Training Center and Services Center and allows all of our ACT family to be headquartered in a single location. This new building doubles the size of our previous Liberty, Missouri location and allows us to catch up with drivers, work through problems and to get questions answered on the spot,” said President & CEO Phil Wilt. “I am pleased that we will see each other more often. We are a family company and having everyone be known and heard is a big deal to me, as well as our whole management team. The office side will be open from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, always with an open door policy.” To me the most exciting part is the Services Center and all of the new things that we will be able to offer our drivers, office associates and mainte- nance staff. It will be open 24 hours so when drivers come in for scheduled maintenance or just to reset their hours of service, they can use the Services Cen- ter to rest and relax,” said Wilt. “We’ve designed the place to feel like they are home; a place that is com- fortable and secure. You can do a load of laundry, work out, take a hot shower, rest your eyes, watch TV or get caught up with fellow associates in a varie- ty of seating options in the Café or outside patio.” We built this facility to directly support our core values of family and respect. We appreciate our employees’ hard work and we want to take good care of them,” said Senior Vice President of Sales/ Chief Marketing Officer Bill Kretsinger, Sr. “It’s all about providing amenities and convenience for our drivers. The former building worked fine for the of- fice employees but not for the drivers. Now, conduct- ing business will be easier for drivers since they’re next to the terminal and they can relax and improve their quality of life with beautiful amenities that pro- vide a quiet oasis.” The response to this impressive new facility has been overwhelming. “Everyone has loved it. It’s been amazing. Most have said the videos and pic- tures don’t do it justice,” said Recruiting Director Josh Mecca. “Drivers have been amazed by the at- tention to detail put into the building, and can’t wait to come back and visit. This facility really helps to provide a peace of mind while you are here: being in such a modern, secure location. We’re happy that when our drivers get back on the road, they are not only physically refreshed, but also mentally refreshed as well.” We hope to see you soon. ACT’S DRIVERS BUILT THIS COMPANY,

SO WE BUILT THIS FOR OUR DRIVERS

ACTIONLINE

At American Central Transport, family has always been important to us. But on June 6th, our desire to be a home away from home became even more of a reality, as we celebrated the Grand Open-ing of our new ACT Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri.

It was an exciting event for us as we dedicat-ed our new building with a blessing of the building, facility tours, DJ music and a lunch featuring ACT’s famous steak sandwiches. The new ACT Plaza houses our Corporate Office, Maintenance Facility, Training Center and Services Center and allows all of our ACT family to be headquartered in a single location.

“This new building doubles the size of our previous Liberty, Missouri location and allows us to catch up with drivers, work through problems and to get questions answered on the spot,” said President & CEO Phil Wilt. “I am pleased that we will see each other more often. We are a family company and having everyone be known and heard is a big deal to me, as well as our whole management team. “To me the most exciting part is the Services Center and all of the new things that we will be able to offer our drivers, office associates and mainte-nance staff. It will be open 24 hours so when drivers come in for scheduled maintenance or just to reset their hours of service, they can use the Services Cen-ter to rest and relax,” said Wilt. “We’ve designed the place to feel like they are home; a place that is com-fortable and secure. You can do a load of laundry, work out, take a hot shower, rest your eyes, watch TV or get caught up with fellow associates in a varie-ty of seating options in the Café or outside patio.”

We appreciate our employees’ hard work and we want to take good care of them,” said Senior Vice President of Sales/Chief Marketing Officer Bill Kretsinger, Sr. “It’s all about providing amenities and convenience for our drivers. TRUE VALUE AWARD

ACT was the proud service ex-cellence recipient at the True Value 2017 Core Carrier Confer-ence for Truckload. Thanks to everyone at ACT that makes this account successful!

MoTA Trucking Rodeo Gary Steward represented ACT at the 50th Annual Missouri Trucking Driving Championships in Branson, MO. The competi-tion featured over 200 drivers from across the state of Mis-souri. There were 9 different competition vehicle classes repre-sented as well. Gary competed in the Sleeper Berth class con-sisting of 27 drivers. Gary was one of 41 rookie, first time con-testants to compete at the event this year. Each driver was required to complete a written exam, a Pre-Trip inspection sta-tion facilitated by the Missouri Highway Patrol, and, new to the event, the skills course which consisted of 6 different obstacle courses. Gary did a great job repre-senting ACT as a professional driv-er and enjoyed the networking that took place with others from across the state. Thanks again to Gary for representing us at the event, and we look forward to participating in the event again in the future.

Drivers of the Month

Congratulations to Patrick Babb for being selected as May company driver of the month! Patrick has driven at ACT since May 2012 and resides in Kansas City, MO. His DSM is Jessica Johnson. Patrick likes the feeling of being part of a family at ACT. His advice to other drivers is don’t be in a hur-ry. He would like to thank Jessica BIG TIME!

Don Tolar is the May contractor of the month! Don is from Ash Flat, AR and has worked for ACT since 2004. Kathy Plante is his DSM. Don decided to be a truck driver to provide the income to buy a house for his family, plus he loves

to travel. Don’s advice to other drivers is to give yourself an out & always drive defensively. He would like to thank everyone from the recruiting department, the shop, dispatch, Kathy, and his for-mer DSM Lance Lamley.

Greetings from Operations! By Brian Matthews, V.P. of Operations With the changing of the season from spring to summer, it would be good to talk about some general items that impact you and your ability to be successful at ACT. Some of the items below might seem like common sense or second nature to you, but hopefully there is something that you can take away from this list: 1) Always verify the paperwork the shipper gives you to what

you were sent on your Qualcomm. Does the trailer number match, origin/destination, BOL number? If it doesn’t match, notify Operations immediately!

2) No one likes surprises, especially our customers. We always want to deliver on time, but we understand things happen. If you think you will pick up or deliver late, notify Operations so we can give the customer advance notice. We don’t want them calling ACT first wanting to know where their freight is!

3) Always get your in & out times listed on your paper-work. Even if you think detention won’t apply, get in the habit of documentation.

4) I know some of our load notes we send you via the Qual-comm are lengthy; however, we wouldn’t provide it if we didn’t think it was necessary.

5) Check Calls! I know many of you do not like to do this, but giving the load planner an accurate time ETA/PTA allows Op-erations to have an accurate count of drivers available to the loads that need planned. There are many factors that go into load planning & having an accurate PTA is an important piece of that planning function.

Congratulations to Bill Casey for being selected as June contractor of the month! Bill is from Collinsville, OK and has been with ACT for over 13 years. Bill’s advice to other drivers is to pay attention to the folks in the safety department at ACT. “I drive no faster than 60 MPH, it keeps me out of trouble.” Bill likes being by himself in the truck and is the happiest when he is work-ing. Bill’s DSM is James Reddoch.

Andrew Wood is the June company driver of the month! Andrew is from Springfield, MO and has Kathy Plante as his DSM. Andrew has worked for ACT since November 2016. He likes everything about ACT and the good ca-maraderie. He would like to thank Kathy for all the help she provides. His advice to other driv-ers is look ahead, keep your distance and prac-tice defensive driving.
