On behalf of the Organising Committee we are pleased to welcome you to the XX Conference of the Ukrainian League Against Epilepsy with international participa-tion “AGE AND GENDER ASPECTS OF EPILEPSY THROUGH THE PRISM OF TIME”, Lviv 12–14th of May, 2016.

Annual Conference of the Ukrainian League Against Epilepsy has become the larg-est and a recognized landmark in the calendar of the neurologists and psychia-trists — epilepsy specialists from all over Ukraine. The conference, which is held this year in the city of Lviv, which in 2009 was awarded the title of the Cultural Capital of Ukraine, gives a chance for researchers, scientists and heath care practitioners to come together to share latest world information, knowledge, experience and estab-lish collaborative networks addressing to improving the quality of care for patients with epilepsy and research promotion of this disease.

This year in the focus of the conference scientific programme are the latest data of etiology, pathogenesis, diagnostics and treatment of epilepsy with different etiology in the context of comparison with previous medical postulates, changes in epilepsy classification, problems of transition of pharmacoresistant patients from childhood to adulthood, especially the management and treatment of women with epilepsy at different age stages, etc.

We are honoured and delighted to welcome participants from all over Ukraine and foreign guests to the City of Lviv, beauty and history of which fascinates tourists from around the world. During the 22nd Session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in Kyoto (Japan) in December, 1998, Lviv was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. In its urban fabric and architecture, Lviv is an outstanding ex-ample of the fusion of architectural and artistic traditions of the Eastern and Western Europe. Lviv has the largest number of historical and architectural monuments in Ukraine — 2500. We hope, that interesting scientific programme of the conference along with communication with colleagues and acquaintance with the wonderful city of Lviv will remain in your memory for a long time.
