The mission of the Academies of Loudoun is to empower students to explore, research, collaborate, innovate, and to make meaningful contributions to the world in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

PTO MISSION STATEMENT

The Academy of Engineering & Technology (AET) Parent/Teacher Organization (PTO) is dedicated to provide a community of support and appreciation for AET teachers, students & families.

PURPOSE

The AET parent group meets to:

Support a positive AET community among the AET, students, and parents.

Plan and provide for social and co-curricular activities.

Provide a mechanism for enhancing general communication between AET staff and parents.

Immersion in STEM curriculum that challenges students to:

think critically

innovate

research

design

and invent to solve real-world, contextual problems.

STEM curriculum that requires all students to complete research and/or engineering capstone projects

AET Pathways

AET Information Technology (IT)Designed for students who wish to engage in an intensive study of computer science and information technologies. All AET IT students are required to design, develop and conduct multiple research projects while attending the AET.

AET EngineeringDesigned for students who wish to engage in an intensive study of engineering, including the engineering design process. All AET Engineering students are required to complete multiple engineering projects while attending the AET.

AET EntrepreneurshipDesigned for students who are interested in STEM fields and wish to engage in an intensive study of developing, marketing and managing STEM-related businesses. All AET Entrepreneurship students are required to develop multiple STEM-focused business and marketing plans.

All AET I students in good academic standing will automatically be admitted into Advanced AET unless they elect to “Opt Out” after 10th grade

Laptop responsibilities

All AET students are issued a “high-performance” laptop, charging cord, and carrying case

These must be brought to AET every day students are here

These items must be returned at the end of the school year in good condition

Caring for these valuable items is the responsibility of the student, and any loss/damage will result in a fine

Acceptable Use Policy enforced by LCPS Department of Technology Services (security)*

With increased privilege comes great responsibility
