THE SCENARIO• A nurse comes home from a 12-hour shift, takes off

her orthopedic shoes and massages her own feet.

• A mother wakes her sleeping children early on Saturday morning to complete their weekly chores.

• An uncle, dressed in a tank top and denim shorts, fires up the grill on a hot afternoon to get ready for the cookout.

What do all of these diverse experiences have in common? You guessed it, there’s a Black radio station playing in the background.

Let’s face it, Black radio is the soundtrack of our lives. It’s where you were able to dedicate a song to your secret crush, or hear the NAACP put out a call to action to boycott. It’s where you found consolation after a bad breakup or laughed hysterically at the dynamic banter of your favorite radio talk show.

This is us. It’s our sound. It’s our collective voice, the influence of which can’t ever be fully described and definitely not replaced.

It’s that experience that Sheryl Underwood is seeking to preserve by providing high-quality, high-impact dynamic content to radio stations across the globe. Whether you’re a booming media enterprise with a large staff or a mom and pop low-power station, working your hardest just to survive, it’s Sheryl’s belief that all Black media outlets deserve quality support and access to good content.

That’s what changing the game really means. As a self-funded media conglomerate, Sheryl has maintained the power to do it her way.

Sheryl shares, “Right now I’m doing this out of my own pocket, because I love my team and my affiliates. I feel that if you believe in something you put your money where you mouth is, so I use income generated by my stand up comedy and my TV show gig to fund a dream, and that dream is to make radio the center of our universe, once again.”

Sheryl has grown the platform from one (1) talk show to four (4) programs that span the needs of just about all

genres of Black radio – Sheryl Underwood Radio (The Talk Show), Late Night Cupcaking (Slow Jams

and Dedications), Spiritual Nourishment (The Best Bible Study on Radio, Gospel) and Auntie Sheryl’s House Party (Hip Hop, R&B & Funk). Four media properties with

distinct sounds and audiences, delivered on a regular schedule...for FREE.

THAT’S UNHEARD OF!

An unapologetically courageous businesswoman and philanthropist, Sheryl seeks to blaze a trail for creativity

and ideas to flourish. She truly believes in the power of teamwork and is committed to the idea that together “we can

change the game.”

Right now, you are a part of history. You are a part of this ground-breaking, revolutionary approach to business and media.

Thanks for partnering with us to ensure that the sound of Black radio is preserved for generations to come.

Do us a favor, if you like what we’re doing, shoot us an email at [email protected] to

tell us about it, and don’t hesitate to ask your friends in the media to become a part of the SUR team!

SHERYL UNDERWOOD RADIO AFFILIATE MEETING AND COVID-19

Due to the COVID19 pandemic, we are looking at all options for the 2nd Annual Sheryl Underwood Radio Affiliate Meeting. We will allow the data and the best advice from health officials to inform our decision, because we want you to stay healthy and safe!

A CRY FOR JUSTICE AND CHANGEThe world was horrified by the vicious killing of Mr. George Floyd. His death mobilized a nation and called forth a global outcry for justice and equality for Black people everywhere. Mr. Floyd’s death was not the first death of an unarmed Black man or Black woman at the hands of the police, but what was

different in this case was we saw it with our own eyes.

How are you responding to the trauma your listeners may be experiencing? We’ve found that polling is a very effective tool for engaging listeners around trending topics.

I Can’t Breathe. I Can’t Wait. VOTE and BE COUNTED

CENSUS 2020 - STAND UP AND BE COUNTEDCensus results affect our communities every day. By completing the 2020 Census you help determine how hundreds of billions of dollars in federal funding flow into communities over the next decade. Data from the Census impacts many different aspects of everyday life in communities, no matter the size, no matter the location. According to CENSUS.GOV:

• Census results help determine how billions of dollars in federal funding flow into states and communities each year.

• The results determine how many seats in Congress each state gets.

• It’s mandated by the U.S. Constitution in Article 1, Section 2: The U.S. has counted its population every 10 years since 1790.

• Completing the Census is easy, safe and takes about 10 minutes.

Oh, FreedomJ U N E T E E N T H C E L E B R A T I O N S COMMEMORATE THE END OF SLAVERY

President Abraham Lincoln issued a Proclamation by Executive Order that gave slaves in the United States their freedom, effective January 1863. It was June 19, 1865 when Gen. Gordon Granger read the Emancipation Proclamation aloud to slaves in Texas, erasing the bonds between master and slave and replacing it with the relationship between employer and laborer.

For newly freed slaves, shock and joy co-mingled, then elation settled in and the Juneteenth celebration was born. Annually, celebrations are held on June 19 to commemorate the abolition of slavery in the U. S.

U.S. VOTER REGISTRATION PLUMMETS DURING PANDEMICThe sharp reduction in voter registration is complicating campaign efforts in battleground states ahead of the 2020 election, this according to USA TODAY. A recently released report from the nonpartisan Center for Election Innovation & Research, indicates that there was a 70% drop in the number of new voters registered across 11 states in April 2020. Although voter registration was ahead of projections prior to the March stay-at-home orders, it took a dive once states began to require shelter in place and social distancing.

With the state of the country in peril, we need everyone who is eligible to register to vote, to register and to vote in all elections, now through the presidential election in November. Now that we’re awake, we’ve got to STAY WOKE.

REVISED CENSUS RESPONSE SCHEDULE

DEADLNE: October 31, 2020
