affluent catchment of four million.
The new £72 million, 225,000 sq ft expansion takes the centre to 1.6 million sq ft and is set to
increase footfall by more than two million a year transforming the centre into a major south east
tourist destination.
A new Public Realm providing outside space for the 20 million visitors includes best in class
technology-led features, soundscape system, and rotating screens all linked to provide a showtime

Customer investmentHome to some of the top performing stores in the country, intu Lakeside continues to see increases in like-for-like visitor numbers and conversion rates.
Combined with continued investment from our customers, over £35 million has been spent in the last two and a half years, from brands including Levis, Schuh, The Entertainer, Zara and River Island.

At 35,000 sq ft, the two-level Zara store is among the biggest in the retailer’s nationwide portfolio and features its full range of womenswear, menswear and kidswear. River Island has also opened a new flagship store doubling the size of its previous store.

intu’s investmentintu Lakeside’s brand new leisure destination, The Quay, is now open with Puttshack’s second site in the UK, one of Hollywood Bowl’s biggest venues, and trampoline park brand Flipout with Nickelodeon’s first UK family entertainment centre, launching in autumn 2019.

The Hall, the first out-of-town concept from food hall operator Market Halls, and a range of other restaurants including new brands Chiktopia and Casco Lounge have all joined intu Lakeside’s growing dinner offer.

because of its ambition to create a leisure destination in its own right
for the South East, that would help us progress our exciting growth strategy
and offer space for Puttshack to showcase our innovative approach

A £9.6 million investment completed in September 2019, the Mall Refreshment has delivered the wow factor for the main centre that The Quay delivers outside.
The refurbishment includes lighting, seating and general lighting package.

intu Lakeside’s existing catering offer has also had significant investment over the last five years. A £9 million refurbishment of the third floor level food court in 2014 which won a Gold Award from the British Council of Shopping Centres. The 55,000 sq ft, 1,100 seat dining area has a 20 strong line-up of top fast food and express casual dining offer offers, including the recently opened Shake Shack.

A further £1.5 million investment was spent on The Boardwalk area of the centre in 2017 providing year-round, weather-proof seating for the lakeside bars and restaurants now neatly complemented by The Quay

The futureLocated at the south end of the centre, this new development will bring a mix of over 1,000 modern homes to rent, catering for individuals, couples and families alike, creating high quality, community living in the heart of Essex and just 35 minutes from Fenchurch Street.
Early designs for the development also include public and private open spaces, dedicated lifestyle facilities, lakeside views, and a range of attractive landscaping and design features integrated with the existing centre, ensuring residents can benefit from everything that intu Lakeside has to offer.
