Have cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 by end of Fall 2012

Passed (or are registered) for the MTTC Basic Skills Test

Completed remedial coursework in math & writing by end of this semester

Want admission to program for Fall 2013

CONVICTION DISCLOSURE

• Students must submit a Conviction Disclosure Form (CDF)• Prior to admission to the TE

program• Prior to internship placement• Prior to initial certification

• After admission students are obligated to report subsequent convictions to COE Certification Officer within 5 business days and provide court documents

• May be denied admission, field placement or recommendation for certification because of a conviction for a misdemeanor or felony

• Failure to report a conviction or falsification could result in dismissal from the TE program

• ICHAT Search (Internet Criminal History Access Tool)• Internet search for criminal history• Required for TE 301, 302, 401-408

Students, interns and teacher certification candidates are obligated to report convictions to the Certification Officer.

Failure to disclose conviction history is falsification!

A conviction does not disappear from your record!

ACCELERATION GRIDSFOR APPLICANTS WITH JUNIOR STANDING ONLY

Applicants who have earned 56 or more credits before the beginning of Fall Semester 2012

Plan to graduate & meet internship requirements by Spring or Summer 2014 Must complete an Elementary or Secondary Acceleration

Grid Acceleration Grids must be signed by you and your major

advisor Acceleration Grids are due to 134 Erickson Hall by Nov 28 You will not be eligible to accelerate your program if you do

not submit a grid before the deadline

PRE-ADMISSION EXPERIENCE

No documented experience necessary

Experiences working with kids helpful for essay and short answer questions Tutoring Camp counseling Service learning Coaching Etc.

42 hours of documented supervised experiences with special needs kids

Documentation due the first week of Spring Semester 2013

Only students who have completed the required experience will be considered for admission to Special Education

Elementary & Secondary Special Education Majors

SUPPLEMENTAL APPLICATION FOR ELEMENTARY MATH TEACHING MAJOR The Elementary Math

Teaching Major is limited and requires a special application

Applicants that don’t submit the Supplemental App CANNOT be considered for admission to the elementary math teaching major

You can be admitted to the College of Education even if you are not admitted to the elementary math teaching major

You will be notified about your admission to the elementary math teaching major by Jan 11, 2013

Decisions will go out just before Spring Break

If admitted, you will be asked to return an online Reply Form to accept or deny your admission

Reply Forms must be submitted by the deadline given

Elementary, Special Education & Child Development majors can list additional teaching minor(s) on Reply Form

TEACH GRANT & ORAL PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT FOR WORLD LANGUAGES

Undergraduates only (1st degree) Loan forgiveness High need fields

Math Science World Languages ESL/TESOL (must be paired with

high need major for secondary OR with elementary education)

Special Education Teach in low-income/high-need

districts for 4 full yrs within 8 yrs of gaining certification

Teaching majors and teaching minors in a world language must pass an oral proficiency exam to be certified to teach it

Secondary world language majors must pass the oral proficiency exam in order to progress to the internship
