PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

I would like to start this week’s newsletter by thanking our amazing community. We were notified at the end of

last week that we were successful in our application for the ‘My Community Project’ grant. We will receive

$75000 to upgrade the North Wagga Hall which will have far reaching benefits for our school and the North

Wagga community. Without your

votes, our application would not

have been successful. THANK YOU!

Today seven students from our choir

had the honour of recording the

backing vocals of the chorus for a

song written and sung by North

Wagga local man, Ronnie Pullen. It

was a fabulous experience for the

girls. They were very impressed with

Grant Luhrs’ recording studio and

likened it to something they would

see Beyoncé recording in! We look

forward to hearing the end product.

This week has seen the

commencement of our annual Swim

Scheme at the Oasis Swim Centre, for

Stage 2. The students were eager to

be organised for their first lesson

yesterday. Mrs Quilliam reported

saying that it ran very smoothly and

the students thoroughly enjoyed it.

The lessons will occur every day for a

two-week period (excluding Friday

20th September).

Have a fabulous week.

YEAR 2 T-BALL GALA DAY On Friday 6th September a group of North Wagga Public School students participated in a T-Ball Gala Day held at French Fields. Numerous schools participated in the event in cold, wet and windy conditions. The team captain, Isabella Baulch played well and put numerous runs on the board while Gemma Tyndall received best and fairest player for the team. The team played a total of five games over the course of the day. The NWPS team came equal first place with Mater Dei Primary School. We look forward to defending our title next year. A big thank you to Jane Wadley for organising the event. Isabella re-caps the day: On Friday some Year 3 girls went to French Fields to play T-ball. We versed three schools and we won 2 games although we lost the last game. They called the finals off because it was raining and very cold. The girls that went were Isabella Baulch, Ellie Rake, Addison Newton, Addison Reberger, Holly Watt, Tarryn Gilchrist, Lilliana Evans and Gemma Tyndall.

TRENT BARRETT SHIELD AND LEAGUE TAG On the 3rd of September we went to Paramore Park for the Trent Barrett Shield. The first game we played Forest Hill and won. The second, third and fourth game that we played, we lost, although we played really well. We were lucky enough for Jett and Ash’s dads to take time off work and coach for the day. Benji, one of our players won the best for the team. We also really appreciate Mr Ridley for organising the notes and team so we could be a part of the Trent Barrett Shield. By Ash, Harry, Taj, Harris, Jett, Harrison and Wil.

Last Tuesday 3rd September the girls league tag team went to the Equex Centre. The girls played their first game at 10.40am, where we versed Lake Albert 2. We won 5-0. Our second game was against Henschke at the same field. We again won and thought we might make it to the next stage. Our third and final game was against St Joeys. In this game they got 1 point and when Myer, Amelia and Jordyn were off the opposition scored. At least we WON!!. At the presentation Jordyn won the best for the team and we made it to the next level. By Jordyn, Myer and Lottie By

BEAU’S VISIT BACK!! On the 10th September Beau Kleeman and his mum came to Purple class for a visit after he went to Sydney Hospital. His mum showed us pictures of Beau in the helicopter and at the hospital. We wrote him letters and then stuck them in a book. We had a talk with Beau and after we all had a photo taken. Ahmed, Hayden and Jesse gave him a present. We missed him a lot and we had lots of fun. By Ahmed, Hayden and Jesse

RIVERINA TOUCH On Monday 26th August, Ava and myself went to a touch carnival to represent Riverina. On the first day which was Tuesday, we played 5 games of 12 minute halves. We only won one game but everyone played well. On the second day, Wednesday, we improved a lot and won 3 games out of 5. The last day of the carnival we won the first game but unfortunately lost the second one which meant we sadly couldn’t make the finals. We ended up coming equal seventh which was better than last year. Everybody had a great time and we all got to meet new friends. By Scarlett and Ava

A CELEBRATION OF DANCE

KINDERGARTEN LIME Kindergarten Lime read the story about ‘The Dog on the Tuckerbox’ that is situated in Gundagai, not far down the road from us. We talked about the recent news of the dog being vandalised. The children wrote a sentence about it. Miral : The dog on the tuckerbox is happy because she is all fixed. Bentley : The dog is safe. One day I will come to see him. Bryson : I hope the dog doesn’t get bullied again.

Each week this term students have been having a dance lesson with Ms King as part of the curriculum. Each class has been learning a small routine. On Friday, 20th September a little concert will be held with each class presenting their item. It will be held at Mt Austin High School hall at 6.30 pm sharp. Notes have been sent out with what your child will need to wear for the concert which will just be something as simple as a certain coloured t-shirt and shorts. Most of the props for the dance have been provided by Ms King. An entry fee of $5 per adult will be collected at the door on the night. We look forward to giving all of the students the experience to perform on a stage in front of a crowd. Save the date!

DON’T MISS THIS FANTASTIC

KINDERGARTEN AND STAGE 3 BUDDIES Kindergarten buddy up with Year 5/6 students on a Friday morning. We sit together on the mats and the Year 5/6 students listen to kindergarten read their readers. Sometimes, these senior students even do some practice ‘sight word’ testing. All students are enjoying this experience.

PLANNING FOR 2020 To assist with planning for 2020 please let the school know as soon as possible if your child/children will not be attending NWPS in 2020. Thankyou.

COMMUNITY NEWS

NORTH WAGGA LEVEE MEETING

with solicitor

6pm on Thursday 12th September

Palm & Pawn

(instead of Tues 3rd Sept) BE THERE PLEASE!!!

Nibblies will be provided! The North Wagga Residents Association is working extremely hard to get the levee you legally and morally deserve. It can’t do it without your help and deserves your

support as a resident who will benefit greatly from the new levee. The solicitor will explain our rights and what he needs from us.

As a resident, you need to turn up and get involved. This is too important to ignore or to think “Someone else will sort that out!!!” because it affects you DIRECTLY.

Be assured, you will benefit emotionally and financially when the levee is built.

Our new levee will mean:

Much less worry because much less chance of flooding Lower insurance costs Significant increase in house and land values Same development rights that Central enjoys now Banks more keen to lend

LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING YOU, IT IS NORTH WAGGA’S TIME!!!!

Thanks,

Fi Ziff - Treasurer of North Wagga Residents’ Association
