PRINCIPAL’S REPORT For the next three weeks Mrs Crocker will be away on Long Service Leave and I will be Relieving Principal in her absence. In addition to this, Ms Moore will relieve in my Assistant Principal role supervising Stage 1 while I’m filling in as Principal. Mrs Librando has returned to work full-time and is taking over Miss Woodside’s Assistant Principal role supervising Stage 2 until the end of the year.

I hope all our mums and grandmothers had a lovely Mother’s Day. Thank you to Mrs Grieve for organising the Mother’s Day Stall again this year and to the wonderful parents who assisted with the stall on the day. The students love the opportunity to pick something for their mums, just as much as the mums love receiving their gifts. This year the school raised about $1000. What a fantastic effort!

This week marks the annual NAPLAN testing for our students in Years 3 and 5. The timetable is as follows: Today - Language Conventions Test (spelling, punctuation and grammar) and separate writing test Wednesday 16th May - Reading Test Thursday 17th May - Numeracy Test Friday 18th May- Catch up day for students who were absent on a particular testing day. Please ensure students are at school on time on these days. Yesterday the senior students participated in the School Cross Country. This year the decision was made to move from Lake Albert to Boorooma. Thank you to Mrs Diaz for organising this event and to the parents who came along to lend a hand. Ribbons will be handed out at both assemblies this Thursday. Finally, last week I was thrilled to receive an email about one of our students, Carter Chobdzynski. Carter participated in the NSW PSSA basketball carnival at Tamworth with the Riverina team and his coach wrote to tell us: “Carter Chobdzynski was part of our Riverina team and I want to let you know just how impressed I was with his behaviour, sportsmanship and attitude. Carter was polite, attentive and respectful during the carnival. He was a great representative and ambassador for the Riverina schools.”

Congratulations Carter!

Have a fabulous week.

Kind regards

Trudy Standley Relieving Principal CWA PROJECT FOR STAGE 3

Poland is the Country of Study this year. We are extremely lucky to have Mrs Jenny Chobdzynski, an Oura member of the CWA, volunteering to assist students gain an understanding of the country. Mrs Chobdzynski will be attending the school this Friday 18th May after lunch to educate students about Poland and give students the opportunity to taste some traditional Polish food. A great opportunity for our Stage 3 students.P

CYPERBULLING SESSION REMINDER Cyberbullying is an important issue for our young people today. Cyberbullying is bullying which takes place over digital devices such as mobile phones, computers and tablets. Cyberbullying can occur through texts, apps, online, in social media, in forums or gaming, and involves sending, posting or sharing negative, harmful false or mean content about someone else.

At North Wagga Public School, we want to support and empower students to understand what cyberbullying is, what actions they can take if they are the target of cyberbullying, and ensure students stay safe in the digital world.

In the meantime, if you would like to read more about how you can support your child to stay safe online, you can visit the Australian Government Institute of Family Studies by following this link: https://aifs.gov.au/cfca/publications/online-safety

The cyperbulling session will be held on Wednesday, June 6, at 6.30pm in the library. Police Constables Burke and Fisher will be presenting to help you become more informed and for you to ask questions that may be worrying you. There is more information on North wagga Public school Facebook page and you may rsvp through Facebook or return the pink slip that was sent home last week. CROSS COUNTRY Yesterday students participated enthusiastically in the School Cross Country - a new course provided new challenges for the students to overcome and it was pleasing to see all students have a go. Thank you to the many parents that assisted by standing on checkpoints, without your assistance days like yesterday would not be as successful. Congratulations to all place getters. Students that have been successful in qualifying for the District Cross Country will be notified in the near future. The District Cross Country will be held at Ladysmith on Friday 1st June. 8/9 Boys 2000m 11 year Boys 3000m 1st Owen Crouch 1st Mason Mescia 2nd Cody Bullock 2nd Ash Harper 3rd Harrison Fisher 3rd Kobi Howarth 4th Preston Hann 4th Bailey Crane 8/9 Girls 2000m 11 year Girls 3000m 1st Myer Mescia 1st Summer Beresford 2nd Rachel Ranby 2nd Amy Cowell 3rd Isla Galloway 3rd Abbey Jolliffe 4th Lottie Cattle 4th Lacey Maurer 10 Year Boys 2000m Senior Boys 3000m 1st Chad Coote 1st Carter Chobdzynski 2nd Blake Campbell 2nd Crawford Wadley 3rd Baylee Edwards 3rd Lachlan Moore 4th Jude Cattle 4th Chaise Hopkins 10 Year Girls 2000m Senior Girls 3000m 1st Mel Philpott 1st Isabella De Camps 2nd Scarlett Wadley 2nd Kate Harris 3rd Ava Chobdzynski 3rd Maggie Watt 4th Jessy Burgess 4th Millie Chisholm
