LEADING THE WAY IN RIVER CRUISING
2019 Programme PreviewEurope, Asia & Africa

FRONT COVER: AMAPRIMA CRUISING IN PASSAU, GERMANY
Dear World Traveller,
In 2017, AmaWaterways celebrated our 15th anniversary. Throughout these past 15 years, we’ve
had an unprecedented commitment to innovation and a dedication to delivering the highest
standards of excellence in river cruising. In 2019, AmaWaterways will continue to transform river
cruising with three new state-of-the-art ships, the AmaMagna, the AmaMora and the AmaDouro.
The AmaMagna will be our biggest ship ever at twice the width of traditional European river
cruise ships, yet she will carry only 196 guests. The design of the ship affords guests luxurious
living spaces; multiple dining options, including an al fresco glass-enclosed restaurant and The
Chef’s Table; more onboard activities and enhanced evening entertainment. The AmaMora, sister
ship to the AmaLea (2018) and AmaKristina (2017) will carry just 156 guests, providing them with
generous personal space, the freedom of multiple dining choices and exceptional stateroom
comfort. The AmaDouro will be our second ship in Portugal due to the continued popularity of
this destination. She will carry 102 guests.
We will expand our selection of included excursions with more choices as we recognise one size
doesn’t fit all, and we will enhance our Wellness Programme even more, ensuring those guests
who wish to continue their wellness-oriented lifestyle can. As the first river cruise line to carry a
fleet of complimentary bicycles, AmaWaterways has long embraced the exciting trend of active
travel. Guests can enjoy biking on their own or joining one of the many guided biking tours, as
well as hiking tours. In addition, our Wellness Programme includes jogging, yoga, circuit training,
cardio and core strengthening classes. We also incorporate healthy eating and locally-sourced
ingredients into our culinary offerings. Gluten-free, low-sodium and vegetarian options are
available, along with a hydration station with infused detox and gemstone water. We will also
have 60 wine-themed cruises to provide a more in-depth epicurean dimension to our already
enticing itineraries—at no additional cost.
We are always whole-heartedly dedicated to the happiness of our guests. Whichever
destination you choose, you’re sure to fall in love with our river cruises. On behalf of
the entire AmaWaterways family, we look forward to welcoming you on board soon.
Sincerely,
Rudi Schreiner President
AMAWATERWAYS, FAMILY OWNED AND OPERATED SINCE 2002
NEW FOR 2019
INTRODUCING AMAMAGNAIn 2019 we will welcome our latest game-changing river cruise ship design, the latest in
a long line of innovations from AmaWaterways. AmaMagna will be twice the width of
traditional river cruise ships, allowing for a vessel with numerous unique features not
found anywhere else. The majority of our staterooms will have full outside balconies
continuing our commitment to providing all of our guests with an ultimate home-away-
from-home floating sanctuary, while our public areas will offer luxurious living spaces,
multiple dining options including an al fresco glass-enclosed restaurant, more onboard
activities and enhanced evening entertainment. Since 2002, AmaWaterways has become
renowned for driving innovation in the river cruise industry. We were the first to introduce
bicycles onto our vessels, the first to provide free WiFi and the first to offer Twin
Balconies – with the arrival of AmaMagna in 2019, we are delighted to be continuing this
tradition as we introduce a new concept of luxurious European river cruising.

NEW FOR 2019
LIVING WELL ON THE RIVERIn 2019 we are expanding our Wellness Programme across all of our rivers
in Europe. As the first cruise line to introduce bicycles onboard we have
long embraced the exciting trend of active travel and staying healthy.
2019 will see our ships welcome a professionally trained Wellness Host to
offer a variety of exercise classes and introduce discussion groups with
a focus on healthy eating and relaxation techniques, alongside our current range of guided
hiking and biking excursions.
In our restaurants, guests will also see more gluten-free, low-sodium and vegetarian options
on the menu, along with a hydration station with infused detox and gemstone water.

EXPLORE EUROPE BY RIVERThe legendary rivers of Europe have long been celebrated in both prose and song. Serving as major highways during
the rise and fall of ancient civilisations, these waterways have continued their crucial roles as sources of sustenance,
avenues of transportation and facilitators of commerce. Throughout history, major cities, smaller villages and stalwart
fortifications have been built along their banks.
Today, travellers who sail on these magnificent rivers will encounter grand capitals like Vienna and Paris, charming
hamlets and towns, enchanting castles and other wondrous scenes from a time long past. You rarely have to wander
far from the river bank to discover a wealth of European art, culture, history and architecture.
THE DOUROThe major river of the Iberian Peninsula flows from its source in Spain to its outlet in Northern Portugal. It is here that river cruisers will discover the UNESCO-designated Douro River Valley, the world’s oldest demarcated wine region known for its Port wine.
DUTCH AND BELGIAN WATERWAYSA series of connecting rivers, including the Amstel, from which Amsterdam took its name, connect the Netherlands and Belgium. A journey along these waterways in the spring offers many opportunities to watch nature blossom in breathtaking fashion in this picturesque part of the world.
THE GARONNE, DORDOGNE AND GIRONDE ESTUARYIn the corner of southwestern France, the Garonne and Dordogne rivers merge together to form the Gironde Estuary, which naturally divides the Bordeaux region into left and right banks. Travellers from around the world flock to this region, which is well known for its wine and many gastronomic delights.
THE SEINE AND RHÔNEThe Seine rises in northeastern France near Dijon, flows through Paris, and continues westward through Normandy to the English Channel. The Rhône flows from its source in the Swiss Alps and travels south to the Mediterranean, linking thousands of vineyards and wineries in southeastern France.
THE DANUBECaptured in literature, art and Strauss’s famous “Blue Danube” waltz, this river is one of the world’s most romantic waterways. Extending for thousands of miles through Central Europe, the Danube flows eastward, passing four capital cities before emptying into the Black Sea.
THE RHINE, MAIN AND MOSELLEThe Rhine originates in the Swiss Alps and flows into Germany, where it joins its major tributaries, the Moselle and the Main. Along these rivers are captivating sights that include grand cities, picturesque towns, iconic castles, stunning vineyards and verdant valleys.

AN ARRAY OF EXCURSIONS AND CHOICESWe realise our guests have different tastes, so we’ve developed a menu of complimentary shore
excursions in every port of call and often with several choices. There’s always a city tour designed to
