We are thrilled to announce the beginning of the 17th season of Youth America Grand Prix and look forward to seeing you all at the regional semi-finals.
Many of you have asked us for information about the U.S. regional events – and, to help you plan your participation, we have prepared a guide with information about each location. It includes answers to the questions that our participants most frequently consider in deciding which location to attend – such as the size and type of competition and workshop facilities, their proximity to the airport, availability of local restaurants and hotel accommodations, and the general level of competitiveness. Please note that the number of seats in the theater can be used as a good indication of the size of the event: the smaller the size of the auditorium, the more limited the capacity of the event; so if you are planning to participate in a specific regional and see that the size of the auditorium is small, we recommend registering early to ensure your participation.

The David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Performing Arts is a state-of-the-art facility located in the heart of the vibrant and touristy downtown area of Tampa. Many of our participants find this venue to be very convenient, as all competition and workshop events take place under one roof. It is also located within walking distance from two hotels and several restaurants, eliminating the need to rent a car or arrange for transportation between the hotels and competition venues once you arrive at the hotel.Because there are only two hotels within walking distance of the theater, we recommend reserving your hotel accommodations as early in advance as possible.

The Meydenbauer Center is home to an intimate theater located 11 miles west of Seattle’s Bellevue area. Master Classes will take place at the state-of-the-art Francia Russell Center, the home of Pacific Northwest Ballet. Many of our participants find this to be a very convenient semi-final, as the theater is located within a walking distance to the hotel and the studios are just a short ride away.

The Hays CISD Performing Arts Center is a state-of-the-art facility located approximately 25 minutes south of Austin and within a 15-minute drive from the airport.Master Classes will take place at Ballet Austin’s spacious facilities in the heart of the vibrant downtown area of Austin, with many dining options and great shopping located nearby. Austin is considered to be the Live Music Capital of the World and boasts many tourist attractions, including the State Capitol and its many museums.They say that everything is bigger in Texas, and we are pleased to confirm that it is actually true – at least for ballet: both the theater and studio facilities at this location are very spacious and modern.

It is a suburban area within a 30-minute drive south-west of Philadelphia and a 15-minute drive from the airport.Master Classes will take place at the state-of-the-art facilities of the Rock Center for Dance Education located within a few-minutes drive from the historical downtown area of Philadelphia. This is one of our most competitive U.S. semi-final locations, which consistently produces top finalists at YAGP New York City Finals.

The Ferst Center for the Arts is located on the beautiful campus of Georgia Institute of Technology, a few minutes away from downtown Atlanta.
This is a great choice of a semi-final venue for those who are planning to fly: the Atlanta airport is one of the biggest hubs in the country and has many convenient connecting flights from virtually anywhere in the country. The hotel is located less than a mile away from the theater; and the Master Classes will take place at the state-of-the-art facilities of Atlanta Ballet.

SAN DIEGO, CA (JANUARY 29-31, 2016)
Mater Dei Catholic High School houses an intimate theater located 20 miles South-East of San Diego’s downtown area. Master Classes will take place at the California Ballet School and San Diego Academy of Ballet (located less than a mile away from each other). The two workshop facilities are situated within a 15-minute drive from the competition venue.
The host hotel is located in the heart of San Diego – but the longer commute from the hotel to competition venues will be more than compensated by the many tourist attractions of the downtown area.

The Master Classes will be conducted at the spacious, modern, brand new Ballet West studios.
