PDF ME PLEASE. Thanks.FROM THE DESKOF FATHER DOOLEYA few points of interest for you: Confessions on Saturdays
We will be moving our Confession time on Saturday to 3:00-3:45 p.m. I realize that the front of the bulletin states 3:15-3:45 p.m. However, I have noticed that a line starts to form around 3:00pm in the Church. Please take note of this change. The Rectory Before I arrived at Our Lady of Peace Church, there were discussions held about the possibility of selling the Rectory (the red brick house at 27 E. Dominion Boulevard). Moreover, questions arose of where my future residency would be located. This request was made known to Bishop Brennan shortly before I arrived here. Last week, I received a letter from the Diocesan Finance Director stating that “at this current time, Bishop is not open to the idea of making a decision about selling the rectory. I do know that like Bishop Campbell before him, Bishop Brennan is a firm believer in providing our priests with a comfortable place to live as they serve in our parishes.” As a result, for the foreseeable future, I will be following Bishop Brennan’s directive and remaining in the current rectory. If you would like to see a copy of this letter, you are more than welcome to see me. I share this with you because I want to be transparent with you as we journey together as a parish. Words of Thanks I would again like to take the opportunity to thank everyone in the parish and school for your warm welcome and openness. I am slowly beginning to get a routine down. One of the first things I do in the morning is to join our students, faculty and staff at the Grade School for their opening prayer assembly. A great way to start the day off here at Our Lady of Peace. See you around the neighborhood.Under the guidance of Our Lady of Peace,Fr. Dooley

TWENTY-FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME SEPTEMBER 15, 2019
THIS WEEK IN ALPHA:Who Is Jesus?
Key Concept: Understanding the evidence regarding the historical
claims of Jesus Christ.
“A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be (insane)…or else he would be ‘the Devil of Hell.’ You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else (insane) or something worse…but let us not come up with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.”
– C.S. Lewis
Forgot to sign up for Alpha? Join us on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria!

PSR NEWS FOR SEPTEMBERWe had a great first day of classes last weekend! Over 80 children in grades Preschool through 8 are enrolled in our PSR program. We have 15 teachers and aides committing their time and talent to leading our children to a greater knowledge of their Catholic faith and building their relationship with Jesus. We are blessed to have the resources to support our children’s learning. We ask the parish to pray for our young people as they begin this new school year.
ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETYThank you very much for your generous response to the St. Vincent de Paul collection last weekend. We received $2,916.08, which will be put to immediate use answering several requests for assistance, bus passes, and sandwich making.
Speaking of sandwich making, please join us after the 8:30 Mass today in the large room of the Old Rectory - you’ll be amazed at our speed and efficiency as we help St. Lawrence Haven feed over 360 people.

FROM THE ORGAN BENCHThis weekend, we are beginning to learn the Heritage Mass. Why, you may ask, do we need to know more than one Mass setting? Changing Mass settings with the liturgical seasons does two things. One, it signals to us that the time
in the Church year is different from Ordinary Time and two, it helps us to be more engaged in the Mass and increase our prayer. The current Mass setting that we are using is the Mass of Creation by Marty Haugen which made its debut in 1982 and was revised when the Roman Missal was revised in 2012. When the Church revised the Roman Missal, one of the things that it asked of musicians was to move away from Mass settings where the Gloria is sung with a repeated refrain. We were asked to use Mass settings where the Gloria is through composed…meaning that we sing it straight through from beginning to end because the Gloria is a prayer not a song. You will find a liturgical aid for the Mass setting inside the front cover of the missalette.
RCIARITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS
Is now the time to explore joining the Church? If you’re curious about the Catholic faith or you have even thought about becoming a Catholic, our Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) program is just for you. Adults from all faith traditions, or no religious background at all, are welcome to participate in our program of instruction designed especially for the needs and lifestyles of busy adults. There are no obligations, pressures or commitments in your participation – just come and learn.
Our Lady of Peace’s program is unique for a number of reasons. It is a structured, instructional, paced for adult learners, and interactive program that meets weekly beginning in early September and culminates with Initiation into the Church on Easter Vigil in the spring. Our RCIA team is dedicated to meeting the needs of the individual participant. They are backed up by a clergy that is involved and caring. It is worth at least one phone call or e-mail to find out more. Please contact Deacon Jeffrey Fortkamp at 614-578-5420 or [email protected].
