Holy Spirit Mission Statement
We, the Family of Faith at Holy Spirit, proclaim that by our Baptism we share in Christ’s mission as Priest, Prophet and King. We
recognize our responsibility to give worship to God, reverence to all people, respect to all creation and to share the Good News of
Jesus Christ. Acknowledging our own brokenness and our need to hope, we seek to be a forgiving and welcoming community
committed to service by the sharing of life and love with all, and working together to make peace and justice a reality in our world.
Strengthened by the presence of God in our lives, we undertake all of this through Our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen. Alleluia

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
March 7, 2020 was our last public weekend Masses at Holy
Spirit before the doors of our churches were shuttered
throughout the diocese. Since then, we have been trying to
reach out, and stay connected through virtual offering of
Masses, spiritual Communion, and rosaries. Recently, our
volunteers have graciously undertaken the task of calling
our parishioners on our behalf to convey our compliments of
prayers and support in these uncertain times. Our Governor
Greg Abbot in his decree of April 27, 2020, given some
green light for churches to reopen their doors. On
Wednesday April 29, 2020, our Bishop Edward Burns
issued a new decree that lays out details about gradual
reopening of our churches throughout the diocese. Please
find below some excerpts:
Phase One
Phase One will begin the opening process by resuming
scheduled confessions and Eucharistic Adoration with strict
social distancing guidelines; the celebration of the
Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and
Eucharist for those who were unable to be brought into the
Church due to the pandemic); and religious celebrations for
families with guidelines that limit attendance (Weddings,
Ordinations, Funeral Masses and Quinceañeras). Phase
One became effective with the signing of the decree and will
be in effect until at least May 18.
Health and Safety as Priorities
“The health and safety of our faithful, clergy and our
community are our utmost priorities during this difficult time,
and it is our goal to continue attending to the physical and
spiritual welfare of our parishioners,” said Bishop Edward J.
Burns. “I ask all in the Catholic community to please
recognize the need for patience and prudence during this
challenging time, and that we join in prayer for all those who
are affected by this virus.”
Please be Responsible
We are delighted to welcome you all back. We really missed
you. If you are sick and vulnerable, please stay home.
Vulnerability is not necessarily a function of age. Many
extenuating circumstances and factors of one’s health
history could be critical considerations. Please do not be
overzealous about coming to church to participate in the
available devotions and sacraments we are able to provide
at this time. Let’s not be carried away by the excitement of
leaving our homes. Your health is your responsibility and
our priority, and as a good neighbor, you must consider the
health of others around you. Please be patient as we ready
our facilities in consideration of our available resources and
the ability of our staff and volunteers to help provide these
services while following the required CDC guidelines and
precautionary protocols. We are looking forward to seeing
you back but please be cautious, careful, and safe!!!

Beware of email & texting scams:
Dear parishioners, there is a scam involving an
email & text being sent by someone posing as
Fr. Joe. Be aware that Fr. Joe rarely sends out
emails or texts except to the staff. Also, he would never ask
for money or gift cards. If you are ever in doubt, please call
the pastoral office before reading an email, opening links, or
downloading attachments.

On March 31, 2020, I issued a decree which extended until
May 1 the suspension of Masses as well as provided
additional guidelines for the Diocese during the Coronavirus
pandemic. On April 27, 2020, the Governor of Texas issued
standards for opening businesses and other institutions in
the State of Texas. In particular, the Governor provided a
number of protocols for resuming religious services, which
emphasized protecting at-risk populations and ensuring
proper social distancing measures.
As shepherd of the Diocese, and taking into consideration
the guidance of civil and health authorities, I find it prudent
to begin the process of opening the Diocese of Dallas in
phases, maintaining the ability to re-evaluate the process as
necessary in order to ensure the health and safety of the
community. This process will likely occur in four phases,
with each phase building on the last.
The following Phases represent broad goals and are
subject to change. A decree will accompany each Phase to
provide specific guidance. Phase One will begin at the date
of promulgation of this Decree. There are no set dates for
the other phases, although another Decree will be
promulgated by May 18, 2020.
PHASE ONE: Scheduled Confessions may resume
with strict social distancing guidelines; the celebration of
the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation
and Eucharist) for adults and children who had been
preparing for the Easter sacraments but have gone
without reception into the Church due to this pandemic
as well as for infants can continue in limited numbers;
and religious celebrations for families (weddings,
Ordinations, Funeral Masses, Quinceañeras, etc.)
may begin in small groups.
This Decree remains in effect until May 18, 2020 unless
it is modified or revoked.

Don’t forget to check the Holy Spirit website...www.holyspiritcatholic.com...and the Children’s Faith Formation
page for each Sunday’s weekly lesson plan! Technically, Faith Formation is OVER for the year (for most of you
that occurred March 8...lol), but I have been putting lesson plans out on the Holy Spirit website for you to down-
load and/or review to keep you and your family active with their faith! I hope you have enjoyed them! I actually
have truly had a blast putting them together for you.
We will continue putting mini-lesson plans together during the summer...just in case you’re looking for a way to
stay connected during the summer. Also, watch for our “CHURCH TO GO” boxes in the next couple of weeks!
Although vacation plans have probably gone by the wayside, some of you may do some traveling late in the
summer, and these will be a fun way to enjoy Jesus while traveling!
And registration for the upcoming 2020/21 Faith Formation year will begin on Monday, June 1 with ON-LINE
REGISTRATION. We are still in the planning stages for actual class times since we’re still waiting on further
guidelines from both the Governor and the Bishop. Watch for more information!
Since we had to cancel our Mother Daughter Tea this year, we will be distribung Tea Party Packets to all mothers on Sunday, May
10 from 12 noon-1 p.m. or unl supplies are gone. This will be a drive-thru event hosted by CFF and assisted by our very dapper
Knights of Columbus. We love our moms!

PRAYER FOR MOTHERS
Heavenly Father,
from the beginning you have chosen to entrust
the human person to mothers in a special way.
We thank and praise you for the gift of mothers;
for their tenderness, care, and compassion,
for their intuition and encouragement,
for commitment and sacrifice.
Bless all mothers this day.
Keep, strengthen, and refresh them
in your loving care.
May they be blessed by our open-hearted
love and gratitude.
Amen.
