Happy Friday AMAZING VPPS parents!
1. 2016-17 SCHOOL YEAR CALENDAR!!! At VPPS, we follow a Day 1 – Day 5 cycle schedule. This means that certain subjects may shift from one week to the next (e.g., Gym, Music). Here are some key dates that may help you organize and plan for 2016 – 2017:
1. Monday September 26, 2016 – Training Day – NO CLASSES 2. Thursday September 29, 2016 – Meet the Teacher Night (More information in the
upcoming weeks) 3. Monday October 10, 2016 – Thanksgiving Day – NO CLASSES 4. Friday October 28, 2016 – PA Day – NO CLASSES 5. Thursday November 24, 2016 (evening); Friday November 25, 2016 (morning) –
Parent/Teacher interviews – confirmation will be sent closer to the date 6. Saturday December 24, 2016 – Sunday January 8, 2017 – WINTER BREAK; last
day of classes in 2016 is Friday December 23; classes resume on Monday January 9, 2017
7. Friday January 20, 2017 – PA Day – NO CLASSES 8. Friday February 3, 2017 – PA Day – NO CLASSES 9. Monday February 20, 2017 – Family Day – NO CLASSES 10. Saturday March 11, 2017 – Sunday March 19, 2017 – MARCH BREAK – classes
resume on Monday March 20, 2017 11. Friday April 14, 2017 – Good Friday – NO CLASSES 12. Monday April 17, 2017 – Easter Monday – NO CLASSES 13. Monday May 22, 2017 – Victoria Day – NO CLASSES 14. Friday June 2, 2017 – PA Day – NO CLASSES 15. Thursday June 29, 2017 – last day of Classes – EARLY DISMISSAL FOR
STUDENTS 16. Friday June 30, 2017 – PA Day – NO CLASSES
2. SAFETY AT VPPS At VPPS, we value everyone’s safety and well-being. In order to ensure a safe learning and working environment for everyone at VPPS, please be aware of the following items:
a) Parking in the Fire Route – Please be aware that fines for parking here can be as high as $300.
b) We had 2 very meaningful assemblies this morning where our students were reminded of the high number of VPPS pupils with food allergies. Please remember that peanuts, tree nuts, and spreads containing nuts (e.g., Nutella) are not permitted at school.
c) Cell phones and Personal technology – students should not be using their phones to text or call parents during the day, and vice versa. Students who need to reach their parents will need to use the phones in the office. This keeps our office staff aware of your children, and keeps them safe. Please consider the appropriate use of cell phones at VPPS. Expectations were reviewed with all students during today’s assemblies.

Cash ONLINE! School Cash Online provides the following benefits:

Parents that opt to participate will receive notification via email of student fees owed (both required and optional), and can make secure online payments by credit card or Interac and receive a receipt.

Step 1: Register
a) Click on the School Cash Online button on our school’s website at http://venturapark.ps.yrdsb.ca/ and select the “Get Started Today” button.
b) Complete each of the three Registration Steps
*For Security Reasons your password, requires 8 characters, one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter and a number.
Step 2: Confirmation Email
A registration confirmation email will be automatically forwarded to you. Click on the link provided inside the email to confirm your email and School Cash Online account. The confirmation link will open the School Cash Online site prompting you to sign into your account. Use your email address and password just created with your account.
Step 3: Find Student NOTE: A STUDENT NUMBER IS REQUIRED This step will connect your children to your account.
a) Enter the School Board Name b) Enter the School Name c) Enter Your Child’s Student # and Last Name d) Select Continue e) On the next page confirm that you are related to the
child, check in the Agree box and select Continue f) Your child has been added to your account
Step 4: View Items or Add Another Student
If you have more children, select “Add Another Student” option and repeat the steps above. 5 children can be added to one parent account. If you do not wish to add additional children, select “View Items For Students” option. A listing of available items for purchase will be displayed.

On the Horizon at VPPS…
1. There are a number of Holy Days early in this school year (i.e., Eid-ul-Adha; Rosh Hashanah; Yom Kippur; Diwali). If you know that your child will be absent from Ventura Park on any of these days, please let your child’s teacher know via the agenda book, or alternatively, you may call the main office @ 905.707.6488 or email: [email protected]
