He was ordained a priest in 1930. and appointed Archbishop in 1937. At the time of his political process, in 1946, the communist regime sentenced him to 16 years of prison and forced labor. Pope Pius XII announces Stepinac’s elevation to a cardinal in 1953. He died in Krašić in 1960. on the note of holiness and martyr- dom. He was buried in the cathedral of Zagreb. The Museum’s materials number over 300,000 museum exponents, but due to insufficient space, the Museum has never had a permanent display. Nevertheless, it continuously presents significant parts of Croatian history to the general public by organizing historical exhibitions and various educational programs. The present exhibition „1918 – A Turning Point for Croatia“ was organized for the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I and presents historical, political and social developments of the Croatian people in the year 1918, which turned out to be, undoubtedly, a turning point in Croatian history. The Memorial Centre of the Rocket Attacks on Zagreb 1991/1995 was opened on May 2nd 2013 in the memory of the civilians who were killed and injured in the missile and bomb attacks on the capital city of Croatia during the Homeland War. Visitors of the Centre will have the opportunity to view artefacts, photographs and documents that stand witness to this barbaric attack on civilians, as well as the attempt to kill the Croatian political leadership in the attack which targeted Banski Dvori in the Upper Town in 1991. The former home and studio of Ivan Meštrović, the most famous Croatian sculptor The Meštrović Atelier is an attractive exhibition space of memorial character located in the old part of Zagreb close to St. Mark’s church. It preserves the authentic atmosphere of life and work of Ivan Meštrović (1883-1962), who studied in Vienna and worked and exhibited in the artistic and cultural centres of Europe and USA. Meštrović won a Grand Prix for sculpture at the International Exhibition in Rome (1911) and was the first living artist who exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York (1947). The beginnings of the Museum’s public activity are tied to the National Museum in Zagreb and the opening of its first collections to visitors in 1846. The Museum’s materials number over 300,000 museum exponents, but due to insufficient space, the Museum has never had a permanent display. Also you can see the Egyption collection, the only that kind od collection in this areas. The material of Technical museum building before was wood, but after resettlement it was made of modern materials. All of our museums have special prices of tickets for kids, students and pensioners. The first open museum in Zagreb was museum of Arts and Crafts and has around 100.000 objects of applied art.
