As a result of our commitment, KRH has become a preferred employer with a well-deserved and proven record. Going forward, we will continue to seek higher levels and raise the bar of professionalism with human rights front and center.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights states 30 articles. The following are examples demonstrating how KRH honors the five most relevant articles within this noble framework in everything we do.

1. All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights, without exception. An employee of KRH is, indeed, a KRH family member, born metaphorically the day he/she joins the company, and is therefore treated equal to all other family members. You might be assigned to a different project or live in a different camp, but your dignity and rights are 100% preserved regardless of where you live, who you work for, or any other element of diversity there is.

2. The right to life, liberty and security of person. Our employees are free to run their lives the way they want, as long as all binding rules and regulations and community norms and common values are respected. At KRH, the rules we come up with are only set to protect each employee against any hazards. Our camps are secured around the clock, and surveillance cameras extend the reach of protection to ensure we are taking care of your safety and protection day and night.

3. No one shall be held in slavery or servitude. In today’s terms, this right is known as Combating Trafficking In Persons (CTIPs), which showcases KRH as an absolute leader and a role model. We combat trafficking elements from the point of recruiting our candidates, continuing with their life in KRH, and ending with their eventual departure when their personal goals have been achieved and the time has come for them to reunite with their families back home. Not only do we have our own active programs and tight measures for CTIPs, but our business partners also continually testify to KRH’s full adherence to and respect of CTIPs rules and regulations through the countless regular inspections they perform, both

announced and unannounced.

4. The right to freely express opinions and make one’s voice heard. KRH has several channels through which all its family members can express their opinions and voice their concerns and recommendations. Comment boxes allow employees to anonymously send any comment with pertinent detail around any issue they may be facing. Periodic employee forums are organized, where employees are represented by their peers, who take the responsibility of collecting their questions and concerns and bringing them to KRH for interactive sessions of questions and answers, followed by strictly implemented Action Plans. Hotline numbers are also available 24/7 for reporting any issues, in addition to an open-door policy practiced by camps’ operations for any employee to approach management with just about anything they have in mind.

5. The right to be duly informed of everything they need to know that would affect their life in KRH. Our employees have a number of channels through which they receive updates and information on a daily basis. Bulletin boards are filled with notices that are updated along with any change or event that is important to employees to be notified of. TV screens in common areas continuously show information of relevance to employees in each camp as well. Additionally, KRH has started a TV channel that is accessible to employees from their rooms and is utilizing this channel to disseminate information to employees as well. Furthermore, a KRH representative is stationed at the work location of employees to assist them with their daily requests and questions while at work.

P. 6 P. 7

Human rights and freedoms have always been a controversial issue over the history of civilization. The most recent organization of human rights took place after the traumatic events of World War II.

Back then, Eleanor Roosevelt led the representatives of 50 United Nations member countries in consolidated efforts that resulted in devising a list of 30 rights and freedoms that belong to all of us. This was known as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

In KRH, we respect and uphold human rights in everything we do. It is therefore a regular practice for our employees to exercise their human rights on a daily basis, while being a part of life with KRH.

Business Development and Vision

Take The Time to Develop Your Own Vision

BD affects many if not all departments, such as sales, marketing, operations, accounting, and finance. Having a vision helps in making the right decisions and setting goals for these departments.

Many studies have proven the advantages of vision when it is communicated and understood by the entire organization, such as:

• Elevated motivation

• Clearer thinking

• Better communication

• Better decision making

Vision and business development go hand in hand since both focus on the future. You cannot know where your business is going or how to develop it without a direction (vision), . Moreover, without stopping and asking ourselves where we want to be, we cannot know which areas to develop.

How to find your vision? There are different ways to find your vision. Some people have it organically formed; some have to discover it. Below are ways that can help you find your vision.

Ask yourself questionsThe most important questions to ask oneself are: What is my purpose? Why do I do what I do? What is my role in society? How am I of service or use? Such internal reflection can help us understand and be clear about ourselves. Answering such questions will make us recognize ourselves and as a result have a clearer mind.

Grab a pen and paper Find a comfortable place and time, where you can list or write about your dreams and goals. Perhaps you can write about where you see yourself in 5 or 10 years’ time. You can write about your work, life and health objectives in the near and far future. Most importantly, imagine the life that is ideal — where you are content with what you have in your life and work.

It is where the company sees itself, thus illuminating the path to reaching it. Having a vision plays a crucial role in life and work success.

Business Development is a plan of action to achieve certain goals, which in this case are: • new market opportunities

• expansion possibilities

• revenue diversification

What is Vision?

What is Business Development?

Vision is crucial for success

Vision is crucial for success

THE FIRST STEP TO ACCOMPLISHING SOMETHING IS TO ENVISION IT. IF YOU DO NOT VISUALIZE IT, HOW WILL YOUR MIND KNOW WHICH WAY TO GO? ALSO, YOUR MOTIVATION WILL BE VERY LOW IF YOU DO NOT WAKE UP TO SOMETHING EVERY DAY. YOU HAVE TO KNOW THE REASON FOR YOUR BEING, THE PURPOSE OF YOUR LIFE, AND SO ON. ONE WAY THAT WILL HELP IS VISUALIZATION.

Business development and company vision are two sides of the same coin. One can’t exist without the other. Business development (BD) is defined by its main objectives. These objectives include business expansion, sales growth, creation of strategic partnerships, and increased profitability, to name a few. Vision is stating where the company sees itself in the future or what it is working towards.

Vision and BD are interrelated and they grow together, since both go through the same process:

a. Setting goals/objectives

b. Making implementation plans

In any company, vision is usually implemented by the collective efforts of all departments, including the active input of BD members. That is how serious companies will achieve a steady growth.

Use your imaginationIn this step, you will notice things about yourself that you perhaps did not know. Here, you have to unleash your imagination and write about things you really like and want to do in life, no matter how improbable they might seem.

Living your visionAchieving your vision is more or less like following a business plan, where goals and dreams are the vision and implementing them is the plan. You have to write it down and make an analysis with a strategy for achieving it in the end.

Achievement, when properly planned for, can be realistic and possible. Sometimes, things happen by “luck/coincidence” and sometimes by plan. If you want to exclude the “luck” part, you have to surely make a plan for your vision, in order to achieve it.Below are some suggestions:• After setting your goals, make a plan for how

to achieve it.

• Make small steps every day and commit to them.

• Remember that going slow is better than going nowhere.

• Pay attention to your everyday habits.

• Make sure you surround yourself with the right people.

• Be positive and help others to achieve their goals, so that people will do the same for you.

• Focus, do the work, stay balanced, relax (sometimes life happens), and have fun impacting positive outcomes.

Proper Use of Protective Gear Proper Use of Protective Gear As part of the quality health, safety and environment protocols (QHSE) for KRH projects, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is essential when operating in potentially hazardous settings.

KRH PPE programKRH PPE program consists of multiple steps that enable us to comply with applicable PPE recommendations and guidelines from a client’s health and safety management program. The client’s HSE program includes these requirements based on the hierarchy of controls in each individual project, and usually consists of:

• Elimination of hazards

• Substitution of hazards

• Engineering controls

• Administrative controls and PPE

As the final choice in the hierarchy of control, effective selection and distribution of appropriate PPE adds great value in terms of protecting health and saving life, and in overall risk mitigation across various projects.

PPE categories based on project sectorsBased on common projects in the MENA region, we categorize our PPE into two types:

Oil sector PPEGenerally specified with approved models/ brands/ specifications from the bidding stage of the contract itself. Some common specifications are based on control measures against hazards commonly present in oil sector projects, such as fire resistance, oil resistance, reducing ignition sources such as static electricity, etc. IFR (injury frequency rate) clothing coveralls and anti-static safety shoes are two examples.

Non-oil sector PPE This applies to a large number of job titles with very diverse job nature and hence hazards at projects; vast types of PPE are issued across various projects. Client determines PPE required considering job descriptions, applicable JSA (job safety analysis), risk assessment, etc. The QHSE team maintains close communication with client’s HSE team to ensure adequate and appropriate use of PPE at project sites.

PPE Selection and ApprovalBased on the applicable requirements, our procurement team provides multiple samples to QHSE team for approval. QHSE team compares the provided samples with applicable requirements based on each target project. For each category, multiple samples are approved to ensure availability in case the primary approved brands/ models are in short supply in the market. Wherever applicable, PPE models are approved by client HSE proof of concert (POC) through KRH QHSE POC. Approved models are kept in the QHSE department to cross-verify the quality of any new lot of PPE with that of the approved sample.

Adherence to applicable standards such as ANSI, EN-ISO, ASTM, etc., is considered during the selection and approval of PPE brands/models.

PPE Stock ManagementOperations PPE POC creates yearly PPE forecasts under QHSE guidance and raises purchase requests accordingly. PPE stock in all KRH camps is managed by the camp’s operations using a centralized web-based application. Issue and replacement are managed by the camp’s managements, and the details are updated in the web-based platform in real time.

PPE AwarenessProper use, maintenance, and replacement of PPE is a major section of our HSE induction in all of our projects, conducted by our QHSE team. The topics are designed in compliance with each project and the client’s requirements related specifically to PPE.

Even though the PPE is the last resource in the hierarchy of control, it plays a major role in the health and safety of our employees in the majority of our projects. Considering this, KRH QHSE and top management pay close attention to this subject.

Our Online Footprint Has Been Revamped

Our Online Footprint Has Been Revamped

Realizing the important role of online representation for businesses, KRH put together a dynamic working group that worked hand in hand with our BIG Marketing and Customer Experience department to implement an ongoing project that caters to the company’s online footprint.

The group included subject matter experts in operations, marketing, digital marketing and social media.

All pooled their efforts to enhance KRH’s online presence. Today, we are glad to report that many efforts have taken place, and have already started to yield results.

The group started with KRH’s website (www.krhkw.com), which received a complete makeover, easily seen in many areas, including:

• A new set of graphics and illustrative art that better represent what we do, adding a visual element of understanding to any content.

• A complete re-organization of site menus that placed content in logically organized pages, making navigation much easier, with a maximum of 3 clicks to get to any detailed information the visitor may be looking for.

• A full rewrite of website pages with content that eliminated any vagueness and replaced outdated information with fresh and concise wording.

Our LinkedIn business page now has its own Annual Publishing Schedule, which ensures we have fresh content for the company’s online followers once a week at a minimum.

With that, you can follow our page by scanning the QR code to follow the page and participate with your comments. The more engagement the Linkedin page gets, the better its ranking on the platform.

While accomplishing major improvements on the company’s website and its business LinkedIn page is indeed an important milestone, the team will not stop

there. There is still lots in store that will be revealed soon.

In addition to the graceful work done to our website, our LinkedIn page also

got special attention from the team.

• A full Arabic version of the website was created and made available for Arabic-speaking web visitors.

• All pages were SEO (Search Engine Optimization) validated to include the right combination of keywords that would enable site pages to rank higher in Google and other popular search engines.

• A better utilized footer that now includes an easy to navigate “Site Map” and a detailed “Privacy Policy,” which adds the element of compliance with international Internet standards of full disclosure, as it explains what information the website may be collecting and how it will be maintaining and ensuring its privacy.

As the world continues to evolve, in every aspect of our day-to-day life, Scientists, Theorists and knowledge Gurus, enrich our lives with more advanced contributions that make way for a better world.

In the field of management and operations, Dr. Shigeo Shingo, (1909–1990), considered to be a leading expert in operational excellence, was the first one to coin the term. Dr. Shingo left a legacy of 18 books addressing the concept in detail.

The most prominent definition of Operational Excellence is “a philosophy of the workplace where problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership results in the ongoing improvement in an organization. The process involves focusing on the customers’ needs, keeping the employees positive and empowered, and continually improving the current activities in the workplace.”

Operational Excellence Episode 1

Operational Excellence Episode 1

To be continued

From day one, KRH has embraced this definition and had it built into each area of its operations. In this series, we will discuss the main principles encompassed by Operational Excellence and elaborate on how we in KRH strive to apply each principle out of profound understanding of its essence.

The first principle is “Respect for every individual”. It simply means that, in an operationally excellent organization, respect must be shown to every person. A person in this context refers to an employee, a customer, a partner, a supplier, or the community at large.

Our KRH Code of Ethics has the principle of respect as one of its main pillars, which signifies how each and every KRH member is expected to practice respect religiously, with every party they deal with (internal or external) and in each type of communication, verbal or written, face to face or online.

The ability to show genuine respect, tactfully solve problems, and demonstrate real empathy towards KRH’s stakeholders represents a significant part of each employee’s annual evaluation in terms of professional objectives and personal competencies. To put it simply, providing a compelling performance in this area throughout the year is a must have for a working KRH member.

As a result of this close adherence to this concept and KRH Code of Ethics, and in addition to one’s annual evaluation, several internal and external surveys are administered throughout the year to measure the level of professionalism we maintain in our daily performance, and the corresponding levels of satisfaction by all the stakeholders of our organization.

Customer Experience (CX), Employee Experience (EX), and Employee Relations (ER) are three integral teams, working together harmoniously to cover all the areas where respect can be assured through real-time measures and analysis.

As will be demonstrated in future issues, KRH takes Operational Excellence to heart and ensures it is evident and visible in every aspect of its business interactions.

“Lean is a way of thinking- not a list of things to do.”

Dr. Shigeo Shingo, (1909–1990)

~Dr. Shigeo Shingo

!About Shigeo Shingo

It’s safe to say that Shigeo Shingo is the grandfather of Total Quality Control. Process Improvement methods owe alot to this man. He was an industrial engineer who specialized in industrial processes and helped to form the Toyota Production System.

Dr. Shingo mastered the concept of Kaizen. He had the skills and wisdom to understand that correct and efficient processes go hand in hand with employee engagement - the essentials to successful lean manufacturing. Dr. Shingo was also an international consultant, introducing the Toyota Production System concepts to a broad range of industries apart from manufacturing.

“Improvement usually means doing something that we have never done before.”

Interview with The KOC Ibrahim Al Rukhais

How long have you been working for KOC?

What are the main success factors in your job?

What are the main challenges in your role?

How long have you been dealing with KRH?

How do you feel about your experience with KRH?

I`ve been working with KOC Recruitment Team since 2011. I am currently handling the Manpower Supply Contracts Section under the Recruitment Team of Kuwait Oil Company in Kuwait with three different companies.

Working as one unit, I believe that all section members are the base factors of success. This is because each of them brings value by actively handling the responsibilities given based on the Manpower Supply Contracts Section’s objectives.

A recent challenge was during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is when most of the staff had to adjust to working remotely. My role involved seeing that the tasks given to the section members were delivered to the end users efficiently. We were responding to the demands as normal without compromising our usual standards for the past 13 years.

We have been working with KRH for two years through KOC’s contract for recruiting specialized personnel. KRH has been providing the required expertise of engineers that support KOC operations.

KRH’s professional team has been supplying KOC with seconded personnel in a professional manner. They provide us with the services needed as partners to KOC, which makes KRH a qualified manpower supply contractor.

KRH talks with Ibrahim Al Rukhais, who is part of the recruitment team at the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC). Mr. Al Rukhais is responsible for seeing that KOC’s staffing requirements are met.

Ibrahim Al RukhaisChief Admin Officer - Recruitment Team

KRH Transportation Team, the Unsung Heroes

As a company that provides a full suite of logistic services, KRH has always kept transportation at the forefront of its services portfolio.

When you work and live in Kuwait, reliable transportation is not optional. A safe and air-conditioned commute is necessary when your destinations are located far apart, and/or you are experiencing challenging weather conditions.

Over the years, KRH has built a large fleet made of more than a thousand vehicles, including large and mid-sized buses, small vans, SUVs, sedans and other types of vehicles. Our fleet is managed by a highly professional team of transportation experts led by Syed Gulam, who has more than 20 years of experience in managing large fleets and accurately planning and implementing transportation and maintenance schedules around the clock.

Syed’s team provides transportation with modern and well-maintained vehicles and buses to destinations all over Kuwait. KRH’s transportation support, along with roadside and accident assistance services, are available 24/7, enabling our employees and business partners to have full confidence in this large fleet, managed by this capable team.

Transportation schedules include several work shifts, numerous work locations, and housing accommodations. This adds a layer of complexity that is skillfully handled every day. To keep each vehicle in top operational condition, the team implements strict maintenance schedules.

With the advent of the pandemic, intensified safety precautions were immediately implemented, and therefore witnessed by all those who ride buses, with extensive sanitization of each vehicle several times a day, and special procedures for handling any cases where individuals were tested positive. Abiding by health and safety protocols, the drivers’ team have recently been fully vaccinated.

Having all our drivers vaccinated sets the example of commitment to health and safety and inspires greater confidence in how we go about making the trip to and from work a convenient experience.

It is no exaggeration to say that our Transportation Service, delivered by the Fleet Department, has been fortifying the wellness of its passengers. Their services have been utilized day in and day out to serve our employees and business partners alike.

A Work–Life Balance Investing in Talent with KRH Academy

Recreational and fitness facilities are an important part of maintaining employees’ well-being. Existing facilities provide the ability to practice a mix of physical and mental activities. All facilities are monitored and maintained around the clock to enable easy access and use by the staff. KRH facilities include a gym, library, and cinema hall, to name a few.

Adequately equipped to allow fitness activities for those looking for a simple enhancement of their blood circulation, as well as those who are more serious about physical fitness and bodybuilding.

A quiet and well-furnished place where any employee can read books in different genres and multiple languages.

Our employees can also experience a cinema theatre environment, with movies of their own selection to enjoy with their friends on their days off work.

Reliably connected workstations, allowing employees to watch live stream movies, do some work-related or personal development research, or even talk to their family members and friends online.

Equipped with various indoor sports equipment, our employees can ease any mental stress at work and re-charge their energy.

These recreational facilities encourage personal growth and self-expression, and facilitate a chance to develop skills, friendship and self-confidence. These are venues where people can do what they want away from work and their commitments.

Moreover, on an annual basis and as part of employee engagement initiatives, the facilities hold events that include many tournaments of the most popular sports and recreational activities. This gives employees across different projects an opportunity to participate and get to know each other.

• KRH Academy is an AHA authorized training site and is certified to deliver Heartsaver courses (CPR, FA and AED)

• General English courses (improving employees’ grammatical, conversational, reading and writing skills)

• Industry-related English course (teaching certain terminology and phrases related to the employees’ job/field)

• Recertification for lifeguards and fitness instructors

• English level-based assessments

• Sexual harassment

• CTIPS training

• Hygiene awareness session

• Stress management awareness session

KRH Academy was launched to be the learning and development engine for all KRH project employees. The concept was to improve the quality of our employees’ performance, through a vigorous and thorough analysis of the job requirements and aligning them with the ever-changing market and competition. Now, KRH Academy services have expanded to include pre-job assessments, an employees’ onboarding program, health and safety awareness, and other supplementary courses that support employees to manage change in critical times, such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

KRH Academy is managed by the training manager, Ms. Marwa Rushdy, along with highly professional staff and instructors, who have the technical expertise and knowhow of the skills and competencies required. Collectively, this dynamic team is continuously working on building and developing various training programs using the scientific “ADDIE” model for curriculum and instructional design.

Since its inception, the team has provided several types of training and courses, which have succeeded in improving the level of our employees’ knowledge and skills.

To honor the KRH vision in becoming the driven partner of choice to its clients, KRH Academy fulfills its role in orienting and readying the staff prior to being recruited as secondment personnel.

a Hub, an Icon, and a Place to EnjoyBy Team Mahboula 1

CAMP MAHBOULA 1

When we say that we provide our employees with “a home away from home,” KRH accommodation camps are usually at the forefront of such a statement.

A camp is not only a set of buildings with apartments, offices, and common areas. It is an entire suite of life support services delivered by genuinely caring staff, in a way that creates unforgettable social experiences for every one of our employees.

To the Camp Operations Team, Camp Mahboula 1 is a hub, an icon, and a place to really enjoy life.

A Hub: Among our camps situated in multiple locations throughout Kuwait, Camp Mahboula 1 is a hub where newcomers are received and introduced to KRH, Kuwait, and their work environment. The professional team managing Camp Mahboula 1 undertake a huge set of operations every day to make that hub as lively as can be.

Upon arrival, new employees are assigned to the camp and provided with a comprehensive onboarding kit. The team then begins the processing of all normalization formalities, such as medical checks, installation access badges, and Kuwaiti residency. A strict schedule of operations follows from one step to the next, until the employee is living and working legally in Kuwait, in the soonest time possible

An Icon: When you walk into Camp Mahboula 1, you cannot help but get a feeling of being in a very special place. The organization of its space, branding of its corners, and the exceptionally high standards you sense in everything you come across make it a unique icon in KRH’s housing portfolio.

A Place to Enjoy: Camp Mahboula 1 has a range of facilities that enable the employees who will continue to be assigned to it to enjoy their stay at a high level and reach a distinguished level of satisfaction.

A clean and tidy dining facility hosts a large number of employees around the clock. The modern fleet managed by resident transportation experts implements a big number of trips every day, in 24/7 shift schedules that are accurately implemented without fail.

When employees are back from work, they enjoy one of the many recreational facilities that are available to them, in order to unwind any stress and freshen their minds in preparation for the following workday.

An around-the-clock work ordering system enables daily maintenance of all camp areas to guarantee employees’ experience continues to be its best.

Communication and management of the countless services provided at Camp Mahboula 1 is handled by the capable Camps Management team, who wear a constant smile, even when the times are hard and obstacles are faced.

In year 2000 I came to Kuwait and it’s been 21 years now.

I came to Kuwait in 1999 ,which makes it 22 years.

I have been in Kuwait for the last 23 years.

I came to Kuwait in 2016 which makes it around 5 years.

I have completed almost 4 years in Kuwait.

I am working with KRH for the last 21 years.

I am working with KRH from last 22 years.

I am working with KRH for the last 23 years.

I am working with KRH since 4 years.

4 years.

Living here is good, since I am living here with my family so I enjoy.

I found living in Kuwait good.

It is good, quality of life and services are improving day by day.

Kuwait is a very friendly country for the outsiders. This country gives us a good life, job and security.

Firstly it was hard for me when I arrived here, I missed my family and moreover the hot climate over here. But now after years I am used to it.

It’s a long span of time I am with KRH and I am pleased to say that my experience is really good.

KRH is a very good company and so far my personal experience is very good.

KRH is a great company, I am seeing from so long and today KRH reached top because of its good services.

I am satisfied working with KRH.

KRH has always been the best choice I have made. Working here has made me a better person looking for the best ways to improve myself. It has been a great experience for me to work with KRH.
